This report on investigations carried out at the site of Mas Guso
in Gerona, not far from the north-east coast of Spain, reveals a
complex site with a series of occupation phases spanning thousands
of years. The earliest detected occupation levels date to the Final
Neolithic/Chalcolithic period followed by a period of abandonment
until the end of the Bronze Age. The pre-Roman and Roman phases
reflect an important site which supplied the local area and had
contacts with the Mediterranean world from the mid-6th century BC.
This volume looks in particular at the Iron Age history of the site
and the material found, and at the Roman villa built in the 2nd
century. Spanish text.

A report on extensive excavations at the rural complex of Saus
(near Girona, eastern Spain), the findings of which attest to a
scattered occupation and characterized by a wide range of materials
found in a sequence of pits dating from the Early and High Iberian
periods. Among the finds were the bases of four oil presses related
to the polis of Emporion 10 km away. The information collected
allows the tracing of the evolution of the material culture of the
region and the highlighting of a practically unknown dimension of
rural life from the 6th to 3rd centuries BC.
This volume presents a catalogue and typology of Roman and Late
Antique iron artefacts from the predominantly rural northeastern
region of the Iberian Peninsula, including agricultural implements,
tools related to building work and military equipment. Spanish
text.

A report on excavations at the Roman villa of Tolegassos located in
Ampurias, northeast Cataluna. The authors outline the background to
the villa and the area surrounding it before focusing on the villa
itself which was occupied from the 2nd century BC to the Augustan
period. Evidence from the excavation, including pottery, faunal
material, agricultural tools and other objects help to reconstruct
the sequence of occupation, abandonment and later reoccupation and
remodelling of the site, and to paint a picture of the overall
economy and Romanisation of this area of northeast Cataluna.
