Fantasy adventure directed by Sam Raimi. Acting as a prequel to the much-loved classic 'The Wizard of Oz' (1939), the film explores how the titular hero, Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a largely unsuccessful circus magician in Kansas, may have found his way to the Land of Oz and his early days in the magical realm. Seeing his new home as a world of opportunity, Oz firmly believes his luck has changed for the better when he is introduced to three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who suggest that he is destined for greatness beyond his imagination.
However, before Oscar can realise his true potential, he must journey through Oz and come face-to-face with the problems that haunt the fantastic land.
This volume features the first two novels of L. Frank Baum's
classic Oz series. In `The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', Dorothy Gale
and her dog Toto are transported to the magical land of Oz, where
they team up with the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Cowardly Lion to
seek the help of the Wizard of Oz himself. In `The Marvelous Land
of Oz', Tip, Jack Pumpkinhead, the Saw-Horse and the Woggle-Bug
work together to help to save the Scarecrow's besieged city.
Dorothy and her little dog Toto are swept away from their home in
Kansas by a powerful tornado and dropped into an enchanting new
land called Oz. To get home, the Witch of the North tells her she
must follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City and ask the
mysterious Wizard of Oz for help. Along the way, she meets the Tin
Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion, and together they embark
on a strange and magical adventure.
