This study centers on the history of the dispute over the Falkland Islands (Las Islas Malvinas), a remote, windswept archipelago in the far reaches of the South Atlantic off the coast of Argentina. A large amount of the capacity of today's computers is used for computations that can be described as computations involving real numbers. In this book, the focus is on a problem arising particularly in real number computations: the problem of veri?edor reliablecomputations. Since real numbersare objects c- taining an in?nite amount of information, they cannot be represented precisely on a computer. This leads to the well-known problems caused by unveri?ed - plementations of real number algorithms using ?nite precision. While this is t- ditionally seen to be a problem in numerical mathematics, there are also several scienti?c communities in computer science that are dealing with this problem. This book is a follow-up of the Dagstuhl Seminar 06021 on "Reliable Imp- mentation of Real Number Algorithms: Theory and Practice," which took place January 8-13, 2006. It was intended to stimulate an exchange of ideas between the di?erent communities that deal with the problem of reliable implementation of real number algorithms either from a theoretical or from a practical point of view. Forty-eight researchers from many di?erent countries and many di?erent disciplines gathered in the castle of Dagstuhl to exchange views and ideas, in a relaxed atmosphere. The program consisted of 35 talks of 30 minutes each, and of three evening sessions with additional presentations and discussions. At the federal level, this fight is shaped by the assumptions that led to current federal cultural protection laws, which many tribes and their allies are now reframing to better meet their cultural and sovereign priorities. At the state level, centuries of antipathy toward tribes are beginning to give way to collaborative and cooperative efforts that better reflect indigenous interests. Begleitband zur akademischen Qualifikationsschrift "Lingua Sine Limitibus," erschienen bei tredition 2014. Tatigkeitsbericht von Susanne M Hoffmann 2000-2012 bezuglich des Aufbaus des Astronomischen Sommerlagers (ASL) als uberregionale Sommerschule fur alle interessierten Jugendlichen zwischen 14 und 24 Jahren. Danach Grundung und Leitung der VEGA e.V. mit dem Satzungsziel der Forderung naturwissenschaftlicher und sprachlicher Bildung durch Nutzung der Astronomie als popularem Zugang zu Wissenschaft, Kunst und Kultur. In dieser Mission erfolgte in den Folgejahren die Initiierung, Konzeption und Durchfuhrung neuer Projekte, insbesondere Astronomie-Karawanen in der Sahara im Rahmen der Erwachsenenbildung (fur die Zusammenarbeit mit der Firma "wustenwandern" gab es einen Tourismuspreis, Stuttgart 2006) sowie Massnahmen der Jugendbildung mit Schwerpunkt-Themen zur Raumfahrt und in diesem Zusammenhang der Aufbau eines naturwissenschaftlichen Jugendaustausches mit der Russischen Foderation. Die Autorin ist Astronomin (studierte Physik, Wissenschaftgeschichte, Medienwissenschaften, Philosophie und Didaktik). Zur Erreichung ihrer Ziele, die hier vorgestellten Projekte erfolgreich zu veranstalten, hatte sie zahlreiche Ehrenamter inne: * Jugendreferentin der Vereinigung der Sternfreunde (VdS) e.V. von 2002-2010 * Mitglied des Vorstands (Beirat) der VdS e.V. von 2003-2007 * Initiatorin, Grunderin und anschliessend Erste Vorsitzende der Vereinigung fur Jugendarbeit in der Astronomie (VEGA) e.V. Wahrend ihres Promotionsstudiums pendelte die Autorin - eine Astronomin - von November 2005 bis April 2008 regelmassig zwischen Berlin und Mauretanien. Das Leben war zeitweise ein bisschen einsam: manchmal fuhlte sie sich wie eine eremitische Predigerin in der Wuste, die im Ausland in einer einzigartigen Landschaft und unter freiem Himmel im 3000-Sterne-Hotel der Sahara praktisch zu lehren ubt, was sie zuhause studierte und nun didaktisch aufzubereiten bestrebt ist. Als "weisse Beduinin" sozialisierte sie sich in der mauretanischen Gesellschaft und ubte dort auch als Frau ganz normal ihren Beruf aus. Ihre Kollegen waren in diesem Land ausschliesslich Manner - sowohl unter den Beduinen auf Karawane als auch unter den Gelehrten, die sie traf: einem Lehrer und einem Geograph. Mauretanische Frauen haben typischerweise andere Berufe und versuchen, eher ortsfest zu bleiben und nicht auf Karawane zu gehen. Die Mauretanier sahen die Astronomin daher zwar als eine ungewohnliche Frau an, weil die meisten Frauen in diesem Land sowas nicht tun - aber da es nicht verboten ist, war die Astronomin sofort und unkompliziert ein akzeptiertes Mitglied des Kollegenteams. Sie schildert ihre Beobachtungen der Natur, einige Sitten und Brauche als eigene Erlebnisse und berichtet die gegenseitigen Eindrucke von Europaern und Afrikanern als Kulturvergleich. Im zweiten Teil publiziert sie ihre Lehre der Astronomie als kurzes Manuskript in sieben kleinen Lektio

Die Frage, ob Bilder und Visualisierungen eine Art Universalsprache - eine lingua sine limitibus - bilden, die sich instantan von jedem Menschen verstehen lasst und sich mithin zur globalen Kommunikation eignet, werden mit Blick auf unseren Lebensalltag voller grafischer PC-Oberflachen und ikonografischer Gebrauchsanleitungen zum Aufbau von Mobeln wohl viele Menschen intuitiv bejahen. Die vorliegende Didaktikphilosophie "Lingua Sine Limitibus" versucht diese Frage analytisch auf den Grund zu gehen: Sie klassifiziert zunachst verschiedene Typen von Bildern nach zwei Schemata, namlich ihrer Medialitat und ihrer Wahrnehmbarkeit und unternimmt dann einen Entwurf einer Bildlogik als Analogon zur Aussagenlogik. Dazu werden Grundoperationen in kanonisierten Bildsprachen dargelegt. Diese Abschnitte fordern die Gegenwartsphilosophie zu weiterer Ausarbeitung auf und werden hier noch nicht wissenschaftlich bis ins Kleinste vertieft, sondern hauptsachlich angewandt wird: Diese philosophischen Uberlegungen fuhren namlich zu den Konsequenzen fur Lehrende, dass das Bild allein naturlich nicht ohne Weiteres zur Lehre taugt, sondern durch andere Medien als Lehrmittel erganzt werden muss. Letztlich fallt diese Erweiterung von Wittgensteins Tractatus Logico Philosophicus auf andere Kommunikationsformen als die verbalen Sprache mit der Goldenen Regel der Didaktik des Comenius zusammen. Ihre Pointe fallt sehr viel optimistischer als bei Wittgenstein aus, denn sie lautet: Woruber man nicht sprechen kann, daruber muss man malen, bauen, komponieren und choreographieren. Ziel und Anlass der Uberlegungen waren die eigenen populardidaktischen Arbeiten, die den zweiten Hauptteil bilden. Viele eigene Arbeiten der Autorin werden hier lediglich genannt und kurz diskutiert. Einige Reprasentationen werden zeitnah als Belegarbeiten oder Monographien in diesem Verlag erscheinen.
