articles, covering a variety of topics on rail operations research
and management of rail systems as well as innovation, particularly
focusing on sustainability aspects. The material consists of the
most recent research work of the authors. The authorship is
international, which makes it an interesting read for rail
academics and professionals around the world. Although the material
has a rail research focus the material is also excellent for
preparation and delivery of rail, transport and logistics
orientated courses and programmes. The target audience primarily
comprises research experts in transport research, but the book may
also be beneficial for graduate students alike.
This edited monograph presents the selected papers from
RailNewcastle 2016, being held in Newcastle UK, June 2016. The
collected papers focus on railway research, including topics such
as rail operations, engineering, logistics, communication systems
and safety. The target audience primarily comprises researchers and
experts in the field of railway engineering, but the paper
collection may also be beneficial for graduate students alike.
These conference proceedings include a collection of articles
presented at the RailExchange conference in October 2017 at
Newcastle University, UK. They will be useful for researchers in
developing countries looking for opportunities of knowledge
exchange. The RailExchange project aimed to develop sustainable
railway education in Thailand, via international partnerships and
industry collaborations based around stakeholders' expertise and
experiences. It involved staff exchange (academics and researchers)
between Mahidol and Newcastle University for joint research and
curriculum development and also organizing railway conferences and
workshops in both Thailand and the UK. The papers published here
focus on rail-related issues and present a perspective of a widely
understood 'exchange' in academia and industry environments.
'Exchange' is perceived as rail knowledge exchange between
partners, rail staff exchange between academia and/or industry,
research exchange between teams, student-lecturer knowledge
exchange, academia-industry collaboration, etc. In addition, more
general rail-related papers are also included.

This study investigates the relationships between corporate
foresight and management decision-making processes in
organizations. It provides an extensive analysis of extant theories
of corporate foresight and strategic management, brings in new
insights, and presents an in-depth case study exploration of
corporate foresight of a European bank.
The investigation of the future of an organization has always
captivated the attention of academics and business managers.
Presently, the aspiration to entrench future-relevant insights into
management practices is a must. Companies that have made attempts
to use corporate foresight have generally dealt successfully with
internal information sharing processes that in most cases have
prepared them for the challenges of the future.Corporate Foresights
and Strategic Decisions investigates the relationships between
corporate foresight and management decision-making processes in
organizations. It provides an extensive analysis of extant theories
of corporate foresight and strategic management, brings in new
notions and insights, and presents an in-depth case study
exploration of corporate foresight of a European bank. The
understanding of organizational future is influenced by the
perceived accountability and integrity of the participating
departments as well as by the apparent nature of environmental
explosiveness. This book provides clear confirmations showing that
the impacts of corporate foresight on strategic decisions are
critically affected by the evaluative and analytical verdicts of
the decision-makers.
The global business area has witnessed a remarkable radical change.
The recent spectacular rise of emerging economy multinationals sets
numerous questions requiring explanation and understanding.

multinationals originating not only from big economic players such
as China, India and Russia but also from other successfully
internationalizing emerging countries, namely South Africa and
Poland. In terms of size, the firms vary from huge multinational
firms such as Huawei, Tata and Gazprom, to really small high
technology firms. The in-depth analysis conducted in this book
leads to the indication of numerous novel directions for further
theoretical expansion and new empirical research.

The radical changes in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) have
brought about changes in marketing in the region, with CEE
countries adopting a variety of market orientations. In May 2004
eight of the CEE nations became members of the EU. Other countries
are expected to join in 2007. This dynamic but heterogeneous region
contains differences in the level of economic development, history,
culture, business practices, etc. This book addresses this variety
and presents an updated picture of the way marketing is done
throughout the region.
