3 decision support techniques that do not depend exclusively on
market incentives and monetary valuation. The World Conservation
Strategy published by the mCN (1980) recognised the full dimensions
of these problems, and introduced the concept of sustainable
development, placing the emphasis on the exploitation of natural
systems and the use of biological natural resources within limits
so that the availability of these resources for use by future
generations would not be jeopardised by the current use of them. At
this time, the imposition of quotas and the definition of critical
loads and environmental standards were suggested as the sorts of
instruments necessary to cope with the problems of limited
availability of environmental resources. Although the mCN
publication did not obtain a high international profile, the idea
of policy norms to respect critical loads has become quite widely
accepted in the environmental policymaking of Western countries.
This has often put the policy agencies in difficult situations.
Polluting industries are inclined to argue that the critical loads
are defined too restrictively. The complexity and time lags of
ecological effects makes it hard to say exactly what constitutes a
critical load beyond which there will be irreversible damage, and
lobbying interests can play on these uncertainties to try and
weaken the environmental standards. In addition, polluting
industries can use the argument of negative impacts on "the
economy" (particularly as regards employment and export prospects)
to blackmail governments, regulatory agencies and the general
public.
Traditionally, coaching psychologists have worked with people who
aren't experiencing significant mental distress or have diagnosed
mental illness. This book describes an innovative and challenging
project of bringing coaching psychology to the lived experience of
individuals with a diagnosed mental illness, Borderline Personality
Disorder (BPD). The authors present a case for why coaching
psychology needs to be constructively challenged to broaden its
base and be more inclusive and of service to people experiencing
BPD in particular. The book describes a coaching interaction
involving coaching psychologists and a number of individuals with
BPD who had completed a behavioural skills programme (Dialectical
Behaviour Therapy; DBT). It explores the epistemological and
practice tensions involving the dominance of clinical recovery
(elimination of symptoms) in mental health services and personal or
psychological recovery (originating in the narratives of people
with a diagnosis of mental illness who yearn to live a life worth
living). This book, written amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, makes a
compelling case for coaching psychologists to engage with the
philosophy and practice implications of personal recovery, at both
professional and personal levels. It will be vital reading for
those engaged in coaching psychology and for the education,
training and continuous professional development of coaches and
coaching psychologists.

The 50 stories in this contemporary collection of school stories
all have a Christian theme making them ideal for schools wishing to
ensure that their collective worship is, in the main, Christian.
Sunday school teachers will also find them invaluable. Here are
just some of the characters you will meet: Billy loses his trunks
whilst swimming at school - how embarrassing! What will he do?
Listen to his hilarious story; David is missing his best friend,
who has left school. Then he meets Arthur, the new boy. Arthur is
different. He is autistic: he can't speak. How can David make
friends with him?; Pete is fascinated with fire but one day goes
too far and sets fire to his school. What will his headhteacher and
parents say?; Joanne is excited when she is chosen to be head girl.
Then she receives a poison pen letter from a jealous classmate. How
will she cope with her disappointment?; Mr Baker has an idea for a
class assembly with a difference. He asks his class to bring their
pets into school. Then things start to go wrong with consequences
he could not have foreseen. Teacher's notes make it easy to make
the most of each story, providing information on the background,
story and theme, as well as a brief summary of what Christians
believe and a short prayer related to the story. The book contains
a foreword by Canon Martin O'Connor.
Love. The most beautiful of words. Love is the fiber of our
essence--yet do you feel it right now? Do you feel loved by others,
and loving toward others? Or do you feel alone? Is there pain and
distress in your life that needs to be addressed before you can
move forward in a more constructive way? Connection to Love teaches
how to focus your life on love. A love-based life is a life of joy
and fulfillment. Be inspired by others. This collection of prose
and poems expresses each author's real life experience, and how
they have worked through issues to a fulfilling life focused on
love. There are many stories of connection with angels--a
connection with love and support that has transformed lives. These
stories are inspirational. They are also guides for living a
love-based life ourselves, so that we become angels to others. The
outcome is that our lives take on meaning and purpose in a way that
we never knew possible. Connection toLove. We all want it. We all
need it. Now you have the tools to get it
