This book (hardcover) is part of the TREDITION CLASSICS. It
contains classical literature works from over two thousand years.
Most of these titles have been out of print and off the bookstore
shelves for decades. The book series is intended to preserve the
cultural legacy and to promote the timeless works of classical
literature. Readers of a TREDITION CLASSICS book support the
mission to save many of the amazing works of world literature from
oblivion. With this series, tredition intends to make thousands of
international literature classics available in printed format again
- worldwide.
The last 25 years have witnessed extraordinary growth in the
academic specialization variously described as composition studies
or rhetoric and composition. What was noticeable about the field in
its infancy was a preoccupation with practice, a lack of emphasis
on theory, and an exclusive reliance on the writing process. As its
disciplinary status has grown, the field has become far more
theoretical. Composition studies has expanded its focus,
reconceptualized the writing process, and embraced a wide range of
critical perspectives. The result of this change is that terms such
as poststructuralism, social construction, gender, and genre, which
were largely unknown in 1965, now dominate discussion. This
reference book is a guide to the multiplicity of theories that have
emerged to form the disciplinary foundation of composition
studies.
The volume consists of 66 entries, each of which is written by
an expert contributor and focuses on a particular theory or group
of theories. While the entries show how various individuals have
contributed to theoretical movements, very few concentrate on the
work of a single theorist. Each entry first provides a critical
summary of a particular theory or group of theories, including key
elements, basic concepts and claims, and information about seminal
or particularly influential works. It then reviews the theory's
critical reception in composition studies and discusses its
significance in the field. The bibliography at the end of each
entry lists primary texts and major scholarship related to the
theory and provides additional suggestions for further reading. The
volume closes with a selected bibliography of important works.
This collection brings together contributions which address issues
and debates within contemporary women's studies and feminism. The
variety of feminist perspectives which emerge from these papers
reveal the extent to which the diversities of women's experiences
continue to reshape feminist knowledge and politics. A recurrent
theme is how to work with these diversitites, and how to make
connections which do not recreate hierarchies or oppressive
practices, which privilege the experiences and aims of some women
over those of others. The contributions here, from inside and
outside the academy, give expression to the multiplicity of
feminist voices which inform the educational and political
development of women's studies in the 1990s.
Macro-social marketing is an approach to solving wicked problems.
Wicked problems include obesity, environmental degradation, smoking
cessation, fast fashion, gambling, and drug and alcohol abuse. As
such, wicked problems are those problems that are so complex and
multifaceted, it is difficult to define the exact problem, its
contributing factors, and paths to a solution. Increasingly,
governments, NGOs, and community groups are seeking to solve these
types of problems. In doing so, the issues with pursuing
macro-level change are beginning to emerge. Issues stem from the
interconnected nature of stakeholders involved with a wicked
problem-where one change may create a negative ripple effect of
both intended and unintended consequences. Macro-social marketing,
then, provides a holistic and systemic approach to both studying
and solving wicked problems. Within the chapters of this book,
macro-social marketing approaches to analysing and defining wicked
problems, to identifying stakeholders and potential ripple effects,
and to implementing macro-level change are presented. In this
emerging area of academia, the theories, models, and approaches
outlined in this book are cutting edge and provide a critical
approach from top researchers in the area. Both practical and
theoretical aspects are presented as well as caveats on such
societal and/or country-wide change. A must-have for social
marketing academics and those interested in macro-level change at a
practical or theoretical level.

This rhetoric/anthology instructs college students in how to read
academic texts with understanding and how to use them as sources
for papers in a variety of disciplines. In Writing in the
Disciplines, Mary Kennedy and William Kennedy emphasize academic
writing as ongoing conversations in multiple genres, and do so in
the context of WPA Outcomes. The rhetoric chapters teach critical
reading, paraphrasing, summarizing, quoting, writing process,
synthesizing, analyzing, researching, and developing arguments. The
anthology balances journal articles with works by public
intellectuals in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
Originally published in 1985. This book explores issues around
education for women and uses the British experience as an example
of what adult education in its variety can offer to women in
breaking traditional moulds. The text raises questions about where
women are, where they might be, and how education as a whole can be
used by women, for women. The critique of adult education is both
theoretical and useful for practice, including many case studies
from areas as diverse as the education of minority women, setting
up of women's education centres, working with childminders, and
courses at the Open University.

THE IDEAL MOTHER'S DAY GIFT - A SOUL-SOOTHING JOURNEY INTO CELTIC
SPIRITUALITY AND THE FEMININE DIVINE For sisters Mary Kennedy and
Deirdre Ni Chinneide, spirituality has been at the centre of their
lives since childhood. Their home in St Brigid's Road in
Clondalkin, Dublin, was around the corner from a holy well, a place
that signalled family, community, and divine ritual. Drawing on
Celtic spirituality - a key focus in Deirdre's work as a
psychotherapist, retreat leader and singer, and a long-held area of
interest for much-loved broadcaster and author Mary - in Journey to
the Well, the sisters share a voyage, as they invite us to journey
with them through the Celtic seasons of Samhain, Imbolc, Bealtaine,
and Lughnasa. Sharing stories, lore, and healing words, these pages
reconnect us with the often forgotten or neglected roots of our
heritage - as we come through a time of global change and turmoil -
reminding us of that which is permanent yet fluid, as symbolised by
the healing waters of a well. Journey to the Well is a book of
connection that celebrates the divine within each of us.
Dream Team
Business consultant Taylor Blake has returned to Savannah,
Georgia, to help her sister Allison turn her dream of running an
old-fashioned candy store into a reality. Allison is also
interested in dream interpretation and invites Taylor to her Friday
night Dream Club, where members meet once a week to share and
analyze their dreams.
When a local dance instructor, Chico Hernandez, is found dead in
his studio, and the murder scene has an eerie resemblance to one of
the dreams shared at their meeting, Taylor can't help but be
intrigued. And when her sister, who was briefly involved with the
dance teacher, becomes the prime suspect, Taylor and their fellow
club members can't be caught napping. It's up to them to dream up a
solution to the murder before Allison faces a real-life nightmare.
