As part of a personal quest, director Hermann Vaske explored the
genius behind the world's most intriguing artists and thinkers for
over 30 years. His interview partners include over 1000 luminaries,
among them Academy Award and Nobel Prize winners, from the fields
of visual art, music, acting, philosophy, politics, business and
science, posing the question: "Why are you creative?" All of the
participants also created an artefact for the project-some very
personal, some bizarre. Vaske has exhibited these artefacts with
considerable successin Europe. Exhibitions included the Museum of
Communication in Berlin and the Espace Miramar in Cannes as part of
the Cannes Film Festival. Now, 100 of the most interesting,
fascinating answers are compiled in this book.
There was a time when 12 inches by 12 inches record covers were
everywhere: This mixed art form of still life, snapshot and
self-marketing was a key factor for whether a long-playing record
flopped or became a top seller - and if it went really well, it
could even become an icon. Classic images of the past include the
covers for The Beatles album "St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club
Band", the Sex Pistols disc "Never Mind the Bollocks" or the
Nirvana classic "Nevermind". However, some covers today attract our
attention for other reasons: Because they're ugly. So ugly that
they're beautiful again! This calendar collects some of those ugly
covers. These covers are the Adidas gloss suit and the moustache of
the cover design. This first edition of the wall calendar shows 12
of the ugliest exhibits, the absolute low points of the design. But
be careful: don't look too long! Your eyes could be damaged
