The Plowboy: Words of Faith and Encouragement Do you seek to gain wisdom? Do you strive for a personal philosophy of life? Do you aspire to achieve greatness? If so, then you are not alone. Many people seek for wisdom as well as knowledge. Many people strive for a philosophy of life in order to better understand their existence. Many people aspire to greatness and to leave a lasting legacy. "Stay away from a wisdom that will not let you laugh, a philosophy that will not let you cry, and a greatness that will not let you bow before little children." These life-altering words from Patrick Martin Williams, Jr. (1898-1988) are engraved on his headstone in Kentucky. Do you want to have life and to have it more abundantly? In William's enlightening book, The Plowboy: Words of Faith and Encouragement, the author explores the Holy Bible and God's plan for mankind. Williams expounds Jesus' life, sacrifice, and offer of salvation. The Great Goal: Supremacy of the Bible and a Christ-centered program. The Great Theme: With Jesus we will live, but without him we will die. The Great Slogan: The pure in heart that pray together, around the world, shall stay together forever in that world without end. Throughout the book, Williams' themes reinforce the ideal of peace and safety for all mankind. He develops his compelling guide for a better life by blending scriptures, anecdotes from childhood, his original poetry, and country humor. Patrick Martin Williams, Jr. was a thinker. His studies included theology, philosophy, history, and business. However, he was also a doer. Williams graduated high school, completed business school, retired from L & N Railroad Company, and participated in the Masonic Lodge. He also labored fervently to help save the lost and strengthen the saved.
Cryptographic access control (CAC) is an approach to securing data by encrypting it with a key, so that only the users in possession of the correct key are able to decrypt the data and/or perform further encryptions. Applications of cryptographic access control will benefit companies, governments and the military where structured access to information is essential. The purpose of this book is to highlight the need for adaptability in cryptographic access control schemes that are geared for dynamic environments, such as the Internet. Adaptive Cryptographic Access Control presents the challenges of designing hierarchical cryptographic key management algorithms to implement Adaptive Access Control in dynamic environments and suggest solutions that will overcome these challenges. Adaptive Cryptographic Access Control is a cutting-edge book focusing specifically on this topic in relation to security and cryptographic access control. Both the theoretical and practical aspects and approaches of cryptographic access control are introduced in this book. Case studies and examples are provided throughout this book.

High-performance CCD cameras have opened up an exciting new window on the Universe for amateur astronomers. This book provides a complete, self-contained guide to choosing and using CCD cameras. We start with a no-nonsense introduction to how a CCD camera works and just what determines its performance. We are then shown how to use a CCD camera and calibrate accurately the images we obtain. A clear review is then provided of the software available for visualising, analysing and processing digital images. Finally, we are guided through a series of key areas in astronomy where we can make the best use of our CCD cameras. This handy volume is packed with practical tips. It provides a clear introduction to CCD astronomy for novices and an indispensable reference for more experienced amateur astronomers.

How can you find new minor planets, comets and novae? How can you use photoelectric detectors to derive the temperatures of stars? And how can you predict future eclipses and occultations of stars by minor planets? The questions asked by serious amateur astronomers are answered in this authoritative and wide-ranging guide, first published in 1994. For each topic, sound practical methods of observation and the scientific background are given to lead you to better observations. Guidelines also show you how to record and catalogue your observations using the recognised professional terminology and classification schemes. From the simplest pencil drawings of the moon to observations of the most distant galaxies with state-of-the-art CCD cameras and photoelectric photometers, this guide is packed with practical tips for all types of amateur observations. It will develop the observational skills of the keen novice and satisfy the more demanding needs of the experienced amateur astronomer.
This guide provides comprehensive practical information for both beginning and advanced amateur astronomers on how to make scientifically significant observations. The book explains in detail how to observe every conceivable astronomical object--from meteors to distant galaxies. It presents a wide variety of methods ranging from the simplest visual observations, such as making pencil drawings of the surface of the Moon, to the use of highly sophisticated equipment, such as CCD cameras and photoelectric photometers. It also explains how to record and catalog observations using recognized professional terminology and classification schemes. The volume's emphasis throughout is on giving amateur astronomers sound information to use at the telescope. The most effective and efficient techniques are presented so that observers can apply those that are most suitable to their own equipment and degree of experience. This comprehensive survey of practical methods of observation will develop the observational skills of the avid novice and will also satisfy the more demanding needs of the experienced amateur astronomer.

The United States National Security Strategy contends that the War on Terror is a "battle of ideas - a fight against the terrorists and against their murderous ideology." In turn, it separates the radical Islamist from their religion - Islam. The problem with this contention rests with the fact that there is no separation of religion from the terrorists', nor from their murderous ideology. In light of this disconnect, a new comprehensive counter strategy is required. Furthermore, ascribing to the premise that today's fight represents a global insurgency, the revised strategy must seek out ways to employ America's and its allies' full complement of instruments of national power. These efforts could be used to aid a grassroots establishment of a non-Western, moderate Islamic voice, go on an offensive information operations campaign, or even foster the development of a new form of Pan-Arabism. The end goal would be to create a unifying counter ideological effort and win the hearts and minds of the moderate Muslim community. By winning over the hearts and minds of this populace, the counterinsurgency would gain the upper hand over the effectiveness of the insurgent's efforts and his ability to use the population for his ends, and eventually achieve victory.
