Before she was betrayed and left for dead, Tenny was many things:
prodigal daughter of the Driftwood City underworld. Leader of the
Thorn Orphans, the gang fighting for a better tomorrow. City
shaman, able to bend her home's boroughs to her will.
Partner-in-crime to Cole, the runaway rich boy with powers just
like hers. But that was all before. Four years later, Tenny is an
exile, sleepwalking through life and waiting to die. But a chance
encounter puts her on a bloody path back to the life she left
behind. Friendless and powerless, she returns to Driftwood City,
only to find a world where the Thorn Orphans have finally won. A
better tomorrow, today. And all that progress tethered to the
heartbeat of the friend who ordered her death. Her city. Her
vengeance. It's an impossible choice. But if Tenny wants to
survive, she'll have to choose one.
Not the Tales You Were Told Once upon a time, Rudyard Kipling's
Just So Stories-fantastical yarns of wondrous creatures in faraway
places-bewitched children across the world. But times change.
Today, Kipling's writing tells us a different tale; of a love of
Empire, and the troubling legacy of British colonialism. In Not So
Stories, writers of colour from around the world reclaim these
stories and remake them into something new. Something different.
Something that belongs to us all. Including stories by Adiwijaya
Iskandar, Joseph Elliott-Coleman, Raymond Gates, Stewart Hotston,
Zina Hutton, Georgina Kamsika, Cassandra Khaw, Paul Krueger, Tauriq
Moosa, Jeannette Ng, Ali Nouraei, Wayne Santos, Zedeck Siew and
Achala Upendran, with illustrations by Woodrow Phoenix and a
foreword by Nikesh Shukla.

and the uneasy intersection between justice and vengeance, this
standalone fantasy puts a magical spin on pulpy revenge sagas like
JOHN WICK and KILL BILL.
The most famous legal work of the ancient world was compiled at the
order of the emperor Justinian (c.482 565) and issued in the period
529 34. It was intended to be a complete codification of all law,
to be used as the only source of law in all the courts of the
empire. The work was divided into three parts: the Codex
Justinianus contained all of the extant imperial enactments from
the time of Hadrian; the Digesta compiled the writings of great
Roman jurists; and the Institutiones was intended as a textbook for
law schools. However, Justinian later found himself obliged to
create more laws, and these were published as the Novellae. This
three-volume Latin edition of 1872 95, prepared by the great
classical historian Theodor Mommsen (1817 1903) and his colleagues,
is the culmination of centuries of palaeographical and legal
studies. Volume 1 contains the Institutiones and Digesta."
