In dem vorliegenden Band werden Arbeiten zusammengefafh, die sich kritisch mit Fragen von aus dem Marxschen Ideologiebegriff abgeleiteten Gesellschaftstheorien ebenso befassen wie mit der Komplexitat des Marxschen Ideologiebegriffs selbst, den orthodox-marxistischen und den marxistisch-revisionistischen Ideologietheorien, ihrem Wandel, ihren politisch-ideologischen Funktionen in unterschiedlichen histo- risch-gesellschaftlichen Beziigen und, nicht zuletzt, ihrer theoretisch-methodologi- schen Verwendbarkeit fiir das Verstandnis von Geist und Geschichte einerseits, Poli- tik und Gesellschaft andererseits. Die hier versammelten Studien sind in den Jahren von 1960 bis 1975 entstanden. Sie beruhen zum Teil auf Vorarbeiten, die bis in die Jahre 1954/55 zuriickreichen. Zwei Arbeiten sind bisher unveroffentlicht: der Einleitungsaufsatz Ideologie und Ideologiebegriff. Dberlegungen zu ihrer metatheoretischen und immanent-kriti- schen Aufarbeitung (S. XIII-XVIII u. 1-21) und die Abhandlung Entwurf einer Typologie des Ideologiebegriffs (S. 82-102); aIle anderen Arbeiten sind, an ver- streuten Stellen, bereits erschienen. 1m Laufe des letzten Jahrzehnts hat sich die theoretische Position des Verfassers insofern geklart, als er heute bestimmte Perspektiven der Wissenssoziologie und der Ideologiekritik mit einem historisch-soziologisch orientierten Funktionalismus in seinen metatheoretischen, d. h. theoretischen und forschungspraktischen, Beziigen systematisch aufzuweisen sucht. Damit wird einmal versucht, die These von der hi- storisch-sozialen Bedingtheit von Theoriebildungen praziser als in der alteren Wis- senssoziologie zu begriinden und historisches BewuBtsein durch positive Forschung neu zu fundieren. Mit einem solchen Ansatz versucht der Verfasser zweitens, die Kluft zwischen normativ-praskriptiven und empirisch-deskriptiven Forschungsan- satzen, die in den Sozialwissenschaften weiterhin besteht, zu iiberbriicken.

Ein erster Ausgangspunkt dieser Oberlegungen liegt in der These, daB erst die Erwei- terung des Theorieverstandnisses in der Soziologie wie in der Geschichtswissenschaf- und die HerauslOsung besonders der theoretisch-methodologischen Probleme der allge- meinen Sozialwissenschaften aus der Wissenschaftslogik - eine fruchtbare Diskussion uber theoretische Probleme der empirischen Geschichtsforschung ermoglicht hat. Wir haben uns deshalb im Horizont dieser theoretisch-methodologischen Probleme bewegt, metatheoretische wie methodische Fragen dagegen nicht vorrangig behandelt. Der zweite Ausgangspunkt lag in der Strategie, die Geschichtswissenschaft in den Bereich der empirisch-analytischen Sozialwissenschaften einzubeziehen, diese aber gleicher- maBen mit den Fragestellungen und Ergebnissen der hermeneutischen Theorie zu kon- frontieren. Ein Ausdruck dieser Fragestellung ist der Versum, den von Husserl und Schutz ubernommenen Begriff der Lebenswelt historism-soziologisch aufzuladen - und fur die empirische historism-soziologische Forschung frumtbar zu mamen. Von dieser Fragestellung geleitet, haben wir historisme Tatsamen, Ereignis etc. ebenso analysiert wie den Begriff der Erklarung und das Problem cler Generalisierung historisch-soziologischer Tatsamen. Von dieser Fragestellung aus haben wir auch die Position des historischen Forschers, seine Beziehung zum Material zu thematisieren gesucht. Bei der eindringlichen Untersumung vor allem des Begriffs der Erklarung haben wir herkommlime begriffsrealistische und -nominalistisme Erkenntnistheorien ebenso zu hinterfragen versumt wie das deduktive Erklarungsmodell Hempels und den tradier- ten Gegensatz von idiographischer und nomothetismer Methode. Urn so mehr konzen- trieren sich die Oberlegungen auf den spezifischen Typ der Verallgemeinerungen, wie sie fur den empirischen Geschichtsforscher sinnvoll sein mogen.

Die hier vorgelegten Untersudmngen sind von Soziologen, Politologen, Wirt- smaftswissensmaftlern, Historikern, Juristen, Padagogen und Publizisten, die sim mit der DDR lange besmaftigt haben, vorgenommen worden. Der Blick. auf das Gesellschaftssystem der DDR lieB es geremtfertigt ersmeinen, diese Bei- trage im Rahmen der reprasentativen soziologismen Zeitsmrift der Bundes- republik zu veroffentlimen. Die Vielzahl der Disziplinen spiegelt sim in der Untersmiedlimkeit der Aspekte und Methoden der einzelnen Beitrage. Die Vielfalt mag aum dem in der Literatur wohl ersten systematismen sozialwissen- smaftlimen Ansatz einer Untersumung der DDR-Gesellsmaft zugute kommen. Sie erstreckt sim bis in die untersmiedlime politisme Bewertung der Stabilitat des Herrsmaftssystems der DDR. Allen Arbeiten, von welmem Ansatz sie aum immer an ihren Gegenstand herangehen, ist das Bemiihen um exakte Besmreibungen und Teilanalysen von Zusammenhangen des Gesellsmaftssystems der DDR - Analysen, die politisme Werturteile von Samaussagen zu untersmeiden wissen - gemeinsam. Insofern mogen sim die Differenzen aum in der politismen Beurteilung des Systems eher giinstig auswirken. Diesem Prinzip entsprimt es, wenn in dem vorli'egenden Band, dem inter- nationalen Braum folgend, aIle Institutionen mit den Namen bezeimnet wer- den, die sie sim selbst gegeben haben. Deshalb wird fUr die Zeit bis 1949 die Bezeimnung Sowjetisme Besatzungszone (SBZ) und fUr die Jahre ab 1949 die Bezeimnung Deutsme Demokratisme Republik (DDR) verwandt. Damit wird kein Urteil iiber die Legitimitat des Herrsmaftssystems der SED abgegeben. Zu dieser Frage sei vielmehr auf die Aussagen im vorliegenden Band verwiesen.
