Currently, the main operations of companies are either directly or
indirectly interconnected in a global-world context. Competition
has drifted from an individual to a supply chain basis, where
digitalization plays a key role. Companies with better digital
capabilities achieve sustainable competitive market advantages. In
this context, companies must identify their current position in
terms of digital capabilities, link these capabilities to supply
chain performance, define their future desired competitive position
and how their digital capabilities are going to help them to get
there, and forecast their future desired performance not only at
the individual company but also at the supply chain level.
Increasing Supply Chain Performance in Digital Society considers
innovative approaches to measure, manage, and project towards the
future of the digital capabilities of both individual companies and
supply chains. It also examines the relations these have with
performance being a practical tool to identify not only where they
are today in terms of digital capabilities but also where they
should be long term and the resources needed to get them there.
Covering a range of topics such as artificial intelligence and risk
management, this reference work is ideal for practitioners,
researchers, scholars, business owners, industry professionals,
academicians, instructors, and students.
Basic concepts on biodegradable biopolymer science are presented in
this book, as well as techniques, analyses, standards, and
essential criteria for the characterization of biodegradable
materials obtained from biopolymers. The development and innovation
of products and processes considering the environment are
highlighted in this book. All of the applications described have
been discussed from the point of view of sustainability.
Additionally, this book highlights that biodegradability is a great
burden when trying to replace, modify, and/or design existing
products, and processes that are highly polluting. Finally, the
present book concludes with reflections on the development of
biopolymers in different areas, and some of their consequences
depending on their biodegradability.
Green chemistry is a work tool that can be applied in different
areas such as medicine, materials, polymers, food, organic
chemistry, etc., since it was propounded in the early 2000s. It has
become a viable alternative for care, remediation and protection of
the environment and has been implemented worldwide. In this book
the twelve principles of green chemistry are presented in a simple
way, with examples of the applications of green chemistry in
numerous areas showcasing it as an ideal alternative for
environmental care. It also provides information on current
research being implemented at the pilot plant and industrial level.
The book demonstrates the importance of the use of renewable raw
materials, the use of catalysis and the implementation of
alternative energy sources such as the use of microwaves and
ultrasound in different separation and chemical processes.

The Supernatural Sublime explores the long-neglected element of the
supernatural in films from Spain and Mexico by focusing on the
social and cultural contexts of their production and reception,
their adaptations of codes and conventions for characters and plot,
and their use of cinematic techniques to create the experience of
emotion without explanation. Deploying the overarching concepts of
the supernatural and the sublime, Raul Rodriguez-Hernandez and
Claudia Schaefer detail the dovetailing of the unnatural and the
experience of limitlessness associated with the sublime. The
Supernatural Sublime embeds the films in the social histories of
twentieth- and twenty-first-century Mexico and Spain, both of which
made a forced leap into modernity after historical periods founded
on official ideologies and circumscribed visions of the nation.
Evoking Kant's definition of the experience of the sublime,
Rodriguez-Hernandez and Schaefer concentrate on the unrepresentable
and the contradictory that oppose purported universal truths and
instead offer up illusion, deception, and imagination through
cinema, itself a type of illusion: writing with light.
Read For A Smile is a fiction story about two first grade girls who
began reading to children and seniors and decided to form a reading
club.
Multiphysics."
