Intended for intermediate- to advanced-level students, Epocas y avances uses a unique communicative-humanistic approach to second language acquisition. Through a series of original readings and related activities Epocas enhances linguistic proficiency while emphasizing important aspects of the history, literature, art, society, geography, language, and culture of Spain and Latin America. The interdisciplinary content of Epocas is designed to: Provide specific tools to generate optimized language production. Reinforce the main skills of language learning, including oral and written comprehension and production. Enable students to encounter, examine, and acquire new vocabulary and linguistic structures. Show students the importance of some of the major civilizations and social processes throughout history that influenced and shaped the language and culture of Spain and Latin America as we know them today. Offer a complete, intellectually stimulating, and academically challenging tool for awakening a general interest in the humanities and enriching students' personal interaction with other cultures. Give students ample opportunity to explore the diversity of other peoples and cultures in more detail, thus preparing them for their role as global citizens.

Diesem Bericht uber Ergebnisse der bisherigen Auswertung psychologischer Untersuchungsbefunde liegt eine 1967 begonnene Longitudinalstudie uber Wachstum und Entwicklung von fruh- und reifgeborenen Kindern von der Geburt bis zum 6. Lebensjahr zugrunde. die an der Universitats-Kinderklinik Bonn (Direktor: Professor Dr.med. Heinz Hungerland bis August 1974. danach Professor Dr.med. Walther Burmeister) mit Unterstutzung des Bundesministeriums fur Jugend. Familie und Gesundheit. des Ministeriums fur Wissenschaft und Forschung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen und der Fritz Thyssen Stiftung durchgefuhrt worden ist. Das Ziel der in Deutschland in dieser Art erstmaligen Longitudinalstudie ist die Ermittlung von Normalwerten fur Wachstum sowie neurologische. motorische und psychische EntwiCklung der Reifgeborenen und FrUEhgeborenen von der Geburt an bis zum Beginn des Schulalters. Solche Normalwerte mit ihrer Variationsbreite sind fur den klinisch und praktisch tatigen Arzt oder Psychologen zur Beurteilung von Kindern insbesondere bei Vorsorgeuntersuchungen eine wichtige Voraussetzung. Die im Rahmen der Gesamtstudie vorliegenden uber 800.000 Daten numerischer und nicht-numerischer Art erstrecken sich auf Gewicht. Koerpergroesse. Kopfumfang und 20 weitere international abgestimmte Parameter sowie auf den kliniSChen. neurologischen und psychologischen BereiCh.
