Wim Jochems, Rob Koper, Jeroen van Merrienboer
R5,485 Discovery Miles 54 850 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

It is widely recognized that online and e-learning is no longer an exclusive approach used only in distance education and in isolation from traditional education programmes. A real difficulty facing educators and trainers is how to integrate these new learning methods and embed them in established and existing forms of learning, teaching or training. This book forms a serious, in-depth study of the subject and proposes that e-learning is not simply a matter of 'digitizing' traditional materials, but involves a new approach, which must take into account pedagogical, technological and organizational features to form a well-designed education system. A practical focus is maintained throughout, with advice on implementation and case studies drawn from the contributors' considerable experience. Integrated E-Learning is essential reading for anyone wanting to implement, design, develop or deliver e-learning or training courses.

The authors describe eight aspects of OER development in their countries: infrastructure, policy, resources, open license, curriculum and teaching methodology, outcome, stakeholders and impact. This book also conducts a comparative study between those countries to identify the OER gaps in the Belt and Road countries. It then offers valuable insights and recommendations for several stakeholders, including policy makers and educators, wishing to integrate open educational resources into educational processes, as well as for those involved in inter-regional open educational resources cooperation.

Rob Koper, Colin Tattersall
R1,447 Discovery Miles 14 470 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

E-learning is still in its infancy. This can be seen both in the limited pedagogical quality and lack of portability of e-learning content, and in the lack of user-friendly tools to exploit the opportunities offered by current technologies. To be successful, e-learning must offer effective and attractive courses and programmes to learners, while at the same time providing a pleasant and effective work environment for staff members who have the task to develop course materials, plan the learning processes, provide tutoring, and assess performance.

To overcome these deficiencies, the IMS Global Learning Consortium Inc. released the Learning Design Specification in 2003. With Learning Design it is possible to develop and present advanced, interoperable e-learning courses embracing educational role and game playing methods, problem-based learning, learning community approaches, adaptivity and peer coaching and assessment methods.

In this handbook Koper and Tattersall have put together contributions from members of the "Valkenburg Group," consisting of 33 experts deeply involved in e-learning and more specifically learning design. The result is a rich and lasting source of information for both e-learning course and tool developers, providing information about the specification itself, how to implement it in practice, what tools to use, and what pitfalls to avoid. The book not only reports first experiences, but also goes beyond the current state of the art by looking at future prospects and emerging applications.
