"Call of Destiny" is a coming-of-age story about four college-age students struggling to find themselves in a very traditional-almost conformist-culture. To high school senior Michael Gillen, living on Earth in the late twenty-fifth century is a miserable existence. His parents always ride him for lacking discipline and ambition, certainly a result of the long shadow cast over him by his older brother. Even worse, the Gillen family's well-known and jaded history makes him an easy target for every bully that comes along. No, Michael can't wait until graduation so that he can finally flee his wretched life That's when the young man seizes the opportunity to realize his lifelong dream of exploring the stars. Just one problem: the prestigious university offering that chance is a military academy and he is anything but military-minded. Meanwhile, an evil tyrant has come to power far across the solar system, quickly threatening the peace of Terrae Solaris. Will the stubborn, free-spirited, and idealistic young man wash out before realizing his dream? Will his family's past get the best of him? Can he keep his mind off other, more enticing distractions? Will he get his chance to set off into the stars before a terrible war breaks out?
TWO STAR SYSTEMS. ONE COMMON DESTINY. A PERILOUS FATE. Circling a yellow star forty-six light-years from Earth, a barren rock of a planet is coming alive. Lush forests teeming with diverse wildlife are spreading across its surface. Cities are rising into the sky. Industry and commerce press outward, bringing an unprecedented prosperity to the young, burgeoning population. At the center of the settlement, construction is making way for New Tyre, the intended capitol city of the planet-a planet the inhabitants call New Europa. The Europan Empire is rising from the ashes And while the Centauries, our intrepid but haggard band of explorers, deal with the challenges of their mission, three thousand warships prepare to set off and lay siege to Earth. Can our heroes stop them? Where are they? ABOUT THE SERIES Exodus is part three of the series, One Small Step out of the Garden of Eden. The series, set five hundred years after the first Apollo moon landing, follows four young adults through their journey to find themselves and their place in the universe. A NEW TECHNOLOGY. AN EVIL TYRANT. AN UNEXPECTED MOVE. How much is one expected to sacrifice in the service of his or her country? That's an elusive question for the Centauries, our intrepid but haggard band of explorers. Terrae Solaris lays ravaged by conflict, and the instability of the Outer Rim threatens the very future of humanity. An opportunity for survival emerges: a dangerous undertaking calling for the Centauries' unique skills. But the thrown-together mission is fraught with peril-and politically motivated. Worse, the Centauries must work with the Coverts, a renegade special forces team whose leader seems to have his own agenda for the mission. Can our explorers carry out their mission? Can they even work together anymore? What secrets from both the Centauries and Coverts' pasts threaten the mission's success-and their lives?
