Epothilones have received unusual attention over the past ten years. They are novel antitumor drugs which very much like their predecessor paclitaxel (Taxol) act via microtubule stabilization. In comparison to paclitaxel and a number of alternative drugs with a similar mode of bioaction (e.g. laulimalide, eleutherobin, peluroside, discodermolide) the epothilones have significant advantages, above all very high activity in the nanomolar range and low susceptibility towards multidrug resistance. Epothilone B and several derivatives thereof are in phase I-III clinical trials; one of them (ixabepilone, BMS) is already on the market, others are supposed to appear on the market in the near future. All naturally occurring epothilones have been isolated from Sorangium cellulosum; their antitumor action is traced back to the stabilization of microtubules. In consequence, the formation of the mitototic spindle is prohibited and the cell undergoes apoptosis.

Das Buch vermittelt Grundlagen der Modellierung, Analyse und Simulation elektromechanischer Systeme unter Verwendung des Computeralgebra-Systems Maple. Am Anfang werden die fur die Arbeit mit Maple notwendigen Befehle in konzentrierter Form anhand von einfachen Beispielen vorgestellt. Ausfuhrlich wird danach auf das Loesen von Differentialgleichungen und Differentialgleichungssystemen mit Maple eingegangen. Das Vorgehen bei der Ermittlung analytischer und numerischer Loesungen wird beschrieben und an zahlreichen Beispielen erlautert.

Dieses Lehrbuch vermittelt Grundwissen zur Loesung von Problemen der Elektrotechnik, der Antriebstechnik und der Mechatronik mit Hilfe des mathematischen Expertensystems Maple (TM) und des objektorientierten Simulationssystems MapleSim (TM). Der Autor stellt zunachst Maple (TM) in konzentrierter Form vor. Danach geht er ausfuhrlich auf die Ermittlung analytischer und numerischer Loesungen von Differentialgleichungen mit Maple (TM) ein. Der Modellierung und Analyse elektrischer und mechanischer Systeme mit Unterstutzung durch Maple (TM) sowie komplexeren Anwendungsbeispielen sind die folgenden Kapitel des Buches gewidmet. Ausfuhrlich beschrieben werden auch das objektorientierte Modellieren und Simulieren mit MapleSim (TM) und die Zusammenarbeit von Maple (TM) mit MapleSim (TM), Matlab (TM) und Scilab (TM).

Dieses Buch erzahlt von den bewundernswerten astronomischen und mathematischen Kenntnissen des Menschen der Steinzeit, der das himmlische Geschehen bei der Ausrichtung seiner Megalith bauten mit erstaunlicher Genauigkeit seinen Zwecken dienlidt madtte. Der Besdtreibung von Stonehenge und seiner astronomi sdten Bedeutung ist ein grosserer Raum gewidmet, zumal neue Untersudtungen erstaunlidte Erkenntnisse ans Lidtt bradtten und moglidterweise hier die Priesterastronomen nidtt nur Sonnen- und Mondfinsternisse beobadtteten, sondern mit dem "Zahlwerk" der Aubreylocher sogar vorhersagen konnten. Bei der Erforsdtung der megalithisdten Stein gehege tritt klar zu Tage, dass die Bauherren uberaus tudttige und praktische Geo meter waren. Sie operierten mit geraden Masszahlen, und so wie heute der Feldmesser seinen Meterstab gebraucht, diente ihnen bei der Errichtung ihrer Steindenkmaler die "Megalithische Elle" als Grundrnass. Zweimal bin idt bei meinen Ausfuhrungen vom Boden sicherer chronologischer Einordnung abgewidten. Dies trifft im Besonderen fur die Besdtreibung der Turmfelsen der Extemsteine zu, deren Vorgesdtidtte in Dunkel gehullt ist, und zu deren astronomisdter Bedeutung wir nur Verdachtsgrunde anzufuhren vermogen. Aber gerade hier, wo fast im Zorn die Ansidtten aufeinanderprallen, lag mir daran, die Meinung des Astronomen vorurteilsfrei zur Spradte zu bringen. Auch die Berguhren im Alpenraum sind zwar sicher schon in vorgeschidttlicher Zeit in Gebrauch gewesen, haben aber ebenso sicher keinen Bezug zu den Steinzeitkulturen. Today, large organistions often deploy PMOs as multiple entities with different mandates, functions, and characteristics. Past research efforts have focused almost exclusively on single PMOs. Governance and Communities of PMOs breaks this mold by means of a report of international research with a multi-disciplinary approach that integrates the foundations of project management with social geography and innovation. This report offers a comprehensive survey and discussion of the theory surrounding multiple PMOs. The authors suggest three paradigms: islands, networks, and communities. The Communities of Practice is the newest and most different of the three paradigms, characterized by opportunities and hurdles in current management contexts.
