Cross-Scale Coupling and Energy Transfer in the
Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere System provides a systematic
understanding of Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere dynamics.
Cross-scale coupling has become increasingly important in the Space
Physics community. Although large-scale processes can specify the
averaged state of the system reasonably well, they cannot
accurately describe localized and rapidly varying structures in
space in actual events. Such localized and variable structures can
be as intense as the large-scale features. This book covers
observations on quantifying coupling and energetics and simulation
on evaluating impacts of cross-scale processes. It includes an
in-depth review and summary of the current status of multi-scale
coupling processes, fundamental physics, and concise illustrations
and plots that are usable in tutorial presentations and classrooms.
Organized by physical quantities in the system, Cross-Scale
Coupling and Energy Transfer in the
Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere System reviews recent
advances in cross-scale coupling and energy transfer processes,
making it an important resource for space physicists and
researchers working on the magnetosphere, ionosphere, and
thermosphere.
This book gathers an in-depth collection of 45 selected papers
presented at the Global Conference on Global Warming 2014 in
Beijing, China, covering a broad variety of topics from the main
principles of thermodynamics and their role in design, analysis,
and the improvements in performance of energy systems to the
potential impact of global warming on human health and wellbeing.
Given energy production's role in contributing to global warming
and climate change, this work provides solutions to global warming
from the point of view of energy. Incorporating multi-disciplinary
expertise and approaches, it provides a platform for the analysis
of new developments in the area of global warming and climate
change, as well as potential energy solutions including renewable
energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, hydrogen production, CO2
capture and environmental impact assessment. The research and
analysis presented herein will benefit international scientists,
researchers, engineers, policymakers and all others with an
interest in global warming and its potential solutions.
Identifying the essential feature of education for international
understanding advocated by the United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the book explores
how Chinese schools have implemented education for international
understanding since the 1980s. Through vivid cases, the author
introduces the practice of education for international
understanding in Chinese primary and middle schools. Based on the
questionnaire survey, she analyzes the international understanding
competence of Chinese students and teachers. Furthermore, she
discusses the current dilemma and proposes possible solutions for
Chinese education for international understanding in the future.
While providing a window into China's contemporary education for
the international community, the book can also be used as a
reference for educational policymakers, educational researchers and
primary and secondary school teachers in other countries.
This book covers the fundamentals and applications of carbon
dioxide vapor compression refrigeration thermodynamic cycles. In
particular, it presents new application areas, such as making ice
and snow in the Winter Olympic Games, food cooling and
refrigeration. The book explores the physical and chemical
characteristics of CO2 fluid, and the unique traits of its
thermodynamic cycle. The contributors explain how CO2 refrigeration
is a developing, eco-friendly technology, and emphasize its
importance for refrigeration and air-conditioning in the current
and future market. This book is a valuable source of information
for researchers, engineers and policy makers looking to expand
their applicable knowledge of high-potential refrigeration
technology using carbon dioxide. It is also of interest to
postgraduate students and practitioners looking for an academic
insight into the industryâs latest eco-friendly technologies.

This book presents the recent achievements on the processing of
representative user generated content (UGC) on E-commerce websites.
This large size of UGC is valuable information for data mining to
help customer/object profiling. It provides a comprehensive
overview on the concept of customer credibility, object-oriented
review summarization technology and content-based collaborative
filtering algorithm. It covers a feedback mechanism which is
designed to discover customer credibility, which is used to define
the professional degree of review content; product-oriented review
summarization for restaurants or trip arrangements, and introduced
content-based collaborative filtering for product recommendation.

This illustrative compendium analyzes the load balancing problem in
distributed stream processing systems and explores a set of
high-performance real-time processing scheme based on key-based
balancing strategy, join-matrix model and fault tolerance
mechanisms. The volume succinctly provides the theoretical support
for the proposed techniques. Through a rich set of experiments and
comparisons with the other state-of-the-art techniques using both
standard benchmarks and real data sets, the book comprehensively
verifies the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed
methods. This unique title is an excellent reference text for
researchers in the fields of distributed stream processing,
parallel system, cloud computing, etc.
