In the last decade, due to factors of ICT infrastructural and broadband maturation, rising levels of educational attainment and computer literacy, and diversification strategies, e-learning has exploded in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. However, significant barriers remain in the region's e-learning development: lack of research on outcomes and effectiveness, paucity of Arabic language learning objects, monopolies and high cost of telecommunications, cultural taboos, accreditation, censorship, and teacher training. Throughout the world, head and neck cancer is a major threat to public health and a significant challenge to both clinicians and basic scientists. Despite extensive efforts in primary prevention, screening, early detection, and therapy, long-term survival rates have not improved substantially in the last three decades. This book covers a wide range of exciting new findings in both clinical and basic sciences as they are relevant to head and neck cancer. These findings have recently enhanced our understanding of head and neck carcinogenesis at the genetic and molecular levels, offering the promise of improved preventive and therapeutic strategies. The book also presents information on the important clinical advances that have been made in chemoprevention, organ preservation, and the simultaneous use of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The first section provides an overview of the etiology and biology of head and neck cancer, including an examination of human papillomaviruses in both benign and malignant lesions. This section also discusses the carcinogenic process at the genetic and molecular levels, as well as aberrant squamous differentiation; increased understanding of these areas has great potential to translate into new strategies for cancer prevention. The second section describes recent advances in developing a risk model for head and neck cancer, as well as the application of genetic susceptibility data in chemoprevention. This section also includes overviews of the status of chemoprevention trials and of the process of invasion and metastasis in head and neck cancer. The third section covers molecular studies of radioresistance, early detection of head and neck cancer, and theimplications of photodynamic therapy, while the fourth section of the book includes studies of the timing and sequencing of chemoradiotherapy. New strategies in this area have made a significantly increased feasibility of laryngeal preservation in the treatment of advanced laryngeal cancer. The fifth and last section discusses the management of clinically negative neck disease, the role of adjuvant therapy in preventing distant metastasis, and new strategies for the treatment of recurrent tumors. Finally, we close with some intriguing predictions for the future of head and neck cancer therapy.

Almanacs were highly influential on popular opinion during the early modern period. They were the least expensive kinds of books and had a practical use as a calendar, literary miscellany, weather guide and advertising medium. The almanacs in this volume contribute to our understanding of women's participation in popular culture, astrology, medicine and prophecy. Sarah Jinner's almanacs for the years 1658, 1659 and 1664, and Mary Holden's almanacs for 1688 and 1689 show a conscious effort to distance themselves from other female religious prophets of the period by relying on the status of astrology as a rational science. The other works in the volume are all attributed to writers who were probably pseudonymous. Dorothy Partridge's The Woman's Almanack for the Year 1694 includes several short articles on chiromancy. The Prophesie of Mother Shipton concerns the prediction of the deaths of Cardinal Wolsey and Thomas Cromwell. The final works in the volume comprise two texts by Shinkin ap Shone which satirize the Welsh people and language, and The Woman's Alamanack by Sarah Ginnor which uses sexual humour to parody the medical advice offered in Jinner's almanacs.

During 2008, the ERMN began collecting data using the Wadeable Streams Monitoring Protocol, which addressed the benthic macroinvertebrate and water quality vital signs. This report summarizes the status of benthic macroinvertebrate communities and water quality in selected wadeable streams throughout parks in the Northern Appalachians Ecoregion of the ERMN (i.e., Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Johnstown Flood National Memorial, and Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River). Data collected since 2008 (with emphasis on data collected during 2010) are presented and discussed. All data were collected following methods detailed in the Wadeable Streams Monitoring Protocol (Tzilkowski et al. 2009).

Air Force commanders increasingly face a dilemma: how to define the proper role of and limits on evangelism by Christian Airmen in a military workplace. The American evangelical Christian movement has produced a sizeable group of Airmen who view their military service not merely as a job or a patriotic duty, but as a platform to seek and win the "lost" to Christ. This presents commanders with several legal and policy issues, but perhaps the most difficult is determining when workplace evangelism presents a clear danger to good order and discipline, requiring commanders to restrict evangelicals' free speech and free exercise of religion liberties.Little has been written about this topic, and legal authorities governing this issue provide commanders only with general guidelines and broad discretion. However, determining when evangelism endangers good order and discipline is a very real and important issue commanders face. This paper uses a fictional scenario to guide commanders through several relevant concerns concerning workplace evangelism and good order and discipline, providing commanders with a framework for analyzing workplace evangelism issues.
