As part of the new Routledge series on Global HRM, this new title considers the growing importance of cross-border alliances, in particular international joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, which is currently a major business issue. Providing a detailed analysis of various aspects of alliances, including learning acquisition, the HR implications of mergers and the role of cooperation and trust in such alliances, this book fills a vital gap in current literature. Featuring case studies and other added value features, this is an essential text for students of HRM, international and strategic management, as well as for HR professionals.
This book examines a new topic in Human Resource Management (HRM),
green - or environmental - HRM, analysing the role humans play in
environmental management at work and environmental behaviours at
workplaces around the world. The book begins with a focus on
negative workplace green behaviours (e.g. toxic chemical leaks, air
pollution, contaminated waste etc.), and what such environmental
problems mean for workers, managers and society as a whole. This
book outlines relevant, underpinning academic theory and research
literature on how HRM is 'going green', and details real-life
organisational examples derived from original and secondary
empirical research to illuminate the implications of adopting Green
HRM practices for relevant stakeholders. In doing so, the book
offers a new, academic contribution to both the HRM and
environmental management literatures.

It is my prayer that each reader recognizes the significance of
working diligently to perfect their relationship.
A powerful transformation took place within me months before I met
Precious. I had no idea that God was preparing me for a divine
assignment. Precious was not an ordinary woman, she was highly
favored by God. We met in October 2010, married in November 2010,
and she transitioned to be with the Lord in February 2011. The four
months we were together seemed like an eternity. We were in the
process of establishing a couples ministry as well as completing
the book Falling In Love God's Way, that was birthed in my spirit.
The things that I learned from a marriage ordained by God can now
be shared with others through the aide of books, seminars,
counseling, audio media, and social media. FILGW will serve as the
foundation for readers in their quest for loving and productive
relationships and marriages. The book will provide answers,
information, and insight to those seeking solutions to strengthen
and heal their relationships.
Good strategies can fail because they are poorly implemented.
Behind this straightforward statement is a complex reality. This
innovative volume explores various aspects of strategy
implementation, a process that is as challenging as it is
important. For strategies to be implemented effectively, firms must
have the right resources and capabilities available. Available
resources must be integrated in ways that create the capabilities
needed and then those capabilities must be leveraged to effectively
implement the strategy in order to create and sustain a competitive
advantage. This handbook focuses on how strategy implementation is
influenced by resources and governance, human capital and
management of it, and accounting-based control systems. It examines
how the dynamic, competitive, and international environment
increases the importance of knowledge and its acquisition,
effective governance as a signal of proper incentives, the
interaction of legality and legitimacy, and the connections between
compliance and enforcement. Because people implement the strategies
through the completion of their job tasks and achievement of their
job-related goals, the second section explores how changes in
workforce demographics have influenced and may influence strategy.
Major factors include the greater proportion of older workers and
the increasing role women play in leadership. Acquiring,
developing, and having a motivated work force is critical to
implementation, whether and how best practices spread is explored,
as is the effectiveness of setting goals. Controlling managerial
behavior plays a critical role in the implementation of strategies,
and is the focus of the third section on accounting-based control
systems. These can be helpful both in identifying inappropriate
behaviors and in promoting positive managerial actions to achieve
desired financial outcomes. They can also encourage experimentation
and creativity. The effectiveness of accounting and accountability
systems is influenced by four dimensions, including the intended
users, standards of compliance, enforcement criteria, and the
assurance process.
