Treasure House Handwriting is a whole-school programme designed to support children in developing a clear and fluent style of writing. Using precursive and cursive handwriting styles, the programme progresses from introducing the movements and patterns needed to form letters, through to the development of a personal style. The worksheets in this resource pack reinforce the handwriting style already learned, through sentences, spelling patterns and simple tongue-twisters and rhymes. Children are encouraged to attempt writing with their eyes closed to help fix the pattern of movements in the mind. Throughout this resource pack, children are introduced to the idea of collating a handwriting folder. Exemplar material from the worksheets can be retained by children in their handwriting folder. Useful teacher notes accompany the 47 worksheets for children.
This title features 48 copymasters to learn correct letter formation from the start. The first 26 copymasters practise components of letters within scenes. The ability to produce fluent, legible handwriting with ease is something that affects attainment in most areas of the curriculum, yet many children continue to struggle with this vital skill. Based on holistic principles, this programme offers a different approach, developing the muscles of the hand - so that children gain the necessary control to produce letter forms - alongside the perceptual skills required to orientate and organize letter and words. The programme is effective for mainstream children aged 4-6 years, children with developmental co-ordination disorders and older children with mild to moderate learning difficulties. Over 400 carefuly graded exercises and activities develop hand-eye co-ordination, form constancy, spatial organization, figure-ground discrimination, orientation and laterality. The package consists of two pupil workbooks and a teacher's handbook.
These useful workbooks provide consolidation and practice of handwriting skills, starting with correct letter formation and progressing to joining whole words in sentences.
