New features of the revised LifeGuides include special options for group activities, additional questions for personal reflection, a "Now or Later" section with practical follow-up activities for use after the study or between sessions, expanded and improved leaders' notes and an attractive, redesigned format for easier reading. Beginning with the new guides Miracles and Pleasing God (released in February 1999), all new LifeGuides will be presented in the new format. In addition more existing volumes will be revised every year to ensure that all our LifeGuides continue to be effective Bible study resources for the twenty-first century. Beginning in Genesis the Bible is the story of God pursuing his people. This brief guide gives us a survey of how God reaches out to the world -- through Jesus and through human ambassadors like us. In this guide you will discover your part in God's plan.
More than 80 years after its initial publication, Halley’s Bible Handbook remains a bestseller in its various editions, with millions of copies sold worldwide. This world-renowned Bible handbook has been consistently updated and revised to accurately provide even greater clarity, insight, and usefulness. Halley’s Bible Handbook makes the Bible’s wisdom and message accessible to people from all walks of life. Whether they’ve read the Bible many times or never before, readers will find insights that give them a firm grasp of God’s Word and an appreciation for the cultural, religious, and geographic settings in which the story of the Bible unfolds. Written for both mind and heart, this completely revised, updated, and expanded 25th edition retains Dr. Halley's highly personal style. It features:
The book of Revelation is one of the most intriguing books of the Bible. It's also one of the most mysterious. Filled with vivid imagery, rich themes, and deep spiritual insights, it can be challenging to read and understand. Yet woven throughout Revelation's sweeping tapestry is a unifying message: The victory found in Jesus Christ. This Bible study takes an in-depth, yet practical, look at the book of Revelation, and shares how we can experience a victorious life. The Wiersbe Bible Studies Series explores timeless wisdom found in God's word. Based on Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe's popular "BE" series, each study provides topical, relevant insights from selected books of the Bible. Designed for small groups, this eight-week study features selected commentaries from "BE Victorious," engaging questions, and practical applications, all designed to help you connect God's word with your life.
Like children performing for our parents in a backyard play, we long to receive the applause, the approval, the divine "well done" of our heavenly Father. This Bible study is about how we can please God--not by following legalistic rules but by putting our trust in Christ. As we grow in our relationship with him, we see how godly character flows from a clear conscience and a sincere heart.
Forgiveness is a door. It's the way to peace and joy. But it's a small door, and it can't be entered without stooping--or kneeling. And sometimes it is very hard to find. When we hurt the people we love, how do we go about restoring the relationship? When we suffer the pain of betrayal or injury or rejection from someone else, how do we deal with the anger and resentment we feel? In eight studies, Douglas Connelly leads the way to help you discover, understand and practice what the Bible says about forgiveness. This LifeGuide Bible Study features questions for starting group discussions and for meeting God in personal reflection, together with leader's notes and a "Now or Later" section in each study.
More than a generation has passed since the appearance of the
last major Catholic Bible dictionary. It has been a fertile
generation for biblical scholarship, an eventful time for biblical
archaeology, and a fruitful time for the Church's interpretation of
the Bible. It is time for a new resource.
God is loving and powerful. He is able to work against some of the strongest forces of hate in the world. You can imitate God's justice by fighting against these same powers in your own life and in the lives of those around you. Taking a fresh look at this theme throughout Scripture, Bob and Carol Hunter challenge you to love justice as God does. And they show you how to work for justice in your everyday life. This revised LifeGuide Bible Study features additional questions for starting group discussions and for meeting God in personal reflection, together with expanded leader's notes and a "Now or Later" section in each study.
Do you wonder about the "end times"-- when it will come? what it will be like? what will happen to you? As R. Paul Stevens leads you to examine for yourself what the Bible says about end times, you'll learn what you can do now to be ready for the future--whatever it holds. This revised LifeGuide Bible Study features additional questions for starting group discussions and for meeting God in personal reflection, together with expanded leader's notes and a "Now or Later" section in each study.
How can you become a woman of God? Leading you through a series of studies drawn from Old and New Testament passages, Bunch offers Scripture as the best guide to help you develop the traits of a godly woman. She includes sessions on how to be strong, trustworthy, wise, resourceful, forgiving, beautiful, content, confident--and how to claim God's grace when you fall short. This LifeGuide Bible Study in IVP's revised format features questions for starting group discussions and for meeting God in personal reflection, as well as a new "Now or Later" section following each session to help you act on what you learn.

The major thrust of this book deals with a believer's financial management with the implications of biblical teaching. By relating our contemporary lives to that of the people of Israel this book is designed to guide readers out of the frustrating wilderness with its dependency on manna into the Promised Land of God's abundant provision. Each chapter ends with a study guide that includes discussion questions and a meditation/prayer focus to enable readers to incorporate biblical and practical truths into daily application.
In today's world, it can be difficult to maintain your faith. Those seeking a greater understanding of the Bible have numerous excellent theological commentaries available to them, but due to volume and depth, many of these are out of reach of laypeople. Others lose contact with the Bible, because it no longer seems relevant to life. They use a superficial knowledge of science and evolution to exclude God and faith from their experiences. "The Layman's Commentary: Volume 2-Books of the History" presents a passage by-passage explanation of the twelve books of the Bible, known as History. In this second volume, author John Devine covers biblical passages from the Entry into Canaan to the end of the Monarchy and the Return of the Remnant. He explains God's continued self-revelation and plan for a relationship with humankind in his dealings with the nation of Israel. He considers the conflict and consequences of the desire of the individual to be independent from God. Further understanding of God's moral standard, which has been the backbone of Western society, is given. Devine also lays out the basis for a full and rewarding relationship with God. The second book in "The Layman's Commentary series, Volume 2-Books of History" provides many proven principles for life and leadership. Devine presents examples from life based on characters and situations. They confirm science and faith are complementary in giving purpose and meaning to life.
