Feelings of oneness with others, nature, and the universe. Encounters with extraterrestrials, deities, and demons. Out-of-body experiences and past-life memories. Science casts a skeptical eye. But Dr. Stanislav Grof - the psychiatric researcher who co-founded transpersonal psychology - believes otherwise. When the Impossible Happens presents Dr. Grof's mesmerizing firsthand account of his fifty-year inquiry into waters uncharted by conventional psychology, an odyssey that will leave you questioning the very fabric of your existence. From the first LSD session that gave Dr. Grof a glimpse of cosmic consciousness to his latest work with Holotropic Breathwork, When the Impossible Happens explores fascinating experiments in astral projection; remarkable tales of synchronicity; memories of birth and prenatal life; the survival of consciousness after death, and much more. Here is an incredible opportunity to journey beyond ordinary consciousness - guaranteed to shake the foundations of what we assume to be reality - and sure to offer a new vision of our human potential, as we contemplate When the Impossible Happens. STANISLAV GROF, M.D., PH.D. One of the founders and chief theoreticians of transpersonal psychology, Dr. Grof is the president of the International Transpersonal Association, and a professor of psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies and the Pacifica Graduate Institute. ALL THE INGREDIENTS FOR A HIGH STRANGENESS STEW Mix two parts science fiction with one part high-level government secrecy. Add a liberal helping of the paranormal. Then let Nick Redfern heat and serve. The result is far, far stranger than anything that you could ever begin to imagine. SCIENCE FICTION SECRETS presents some mind-bending answers to a number of highly intriguing and thought-provoking questions, including: -- Did the U.S. Government secretly assist Steven Spielberg in the production of his groundbreaking science fiction movies "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial"? -- Why were special agents of the FBI so deeply interested in the life, career, and activities of science fiction author Philip K. Dick (of "Blade Runner" fame)? -- How did "The X-Files" spin-off series "The Lone Gunmen" anticipate months in advance the terrible tragedy of 9-11? -- Why was the top brass of the U.S. Air Force so secretly interested in, and concerned by, the UFO-related tales of a relatively anonymous 1950s science fiction movie-maker who died in poverty in the early 1980s? -- Did a nightmarish scenario presented in one of H.G. Wells' novels prompt Soviet Premier Josef Stalin to clandestinely embark upon a secret and diabolical experiment designed to create a super race of monstrous, half-human half-ape soldiers? -- Has the military managed to successfully perfect human teleportation of the type that was most graphically and famously shown in "Star Trek" and "The Fly"?
"New Thought" adherents at the turn of the 20th century vehemently believed in the concept of "mind over matter," and one of the most influential thinkers of this early "New Age" philosophy offers here, in this curious 1908 work, his insight into that extraordinary ability we all have deep within our minds: the power of Mental Influence. When doctors discovered a mass in Sherry Ward's kidney, they could not say whether it was malignant. Apprehensive about radical surgery and concerned by their uncertainty, she turned elsewhere. Armed with information from five psychics, she went against the medical odds. When the psychics proved correct, Ward's interest in psychic work intensified. Seekers of the Soul is the result of Ward's inquisitive journey into the world of psychics, visionaries, and intuitives who gain information using more than the traditional senses. Here Ward presents detailed profiles of seven individuals with exceptional abilities to sense and translate what to others is "not there." After interviewing numerous psychics, Ward chose the most principled, unique and skillful among them for Seekers of the Soul. Each person profiled uses his or her gifts to provide seekers with spiritual insight, emotional wisdom, or perhaps a connection to a loved-one who has crossed over. Although each psychic or intuitive divines his or her information differently, their clients benefit from the guidance, finding information relevant to their lives. For all who are intrigued by the extra-sensory realm and want to know how to take your soul to its highest potential, you'll find Ward's research and engaging profiles replete with insight and meaning.

2009 reprint of the 1913 third edition. William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) was an attorney, merchant, publisher, and author, as well as an occultist and an American pioneer of the New Thought movement. He is also known to have been the author of the pseudonymous works attributed to Theron Q. Dumont and Yogi Ramacharaka.Due in part to Atkinson's intense personal secrecy and extensive use of pseudonyms, he is now largely forgotten, despite having obtained mention in past editions of Who's Who in America, Religious Leaders of America, and several similar publications -- and having written more than 100 books in the last 30 years of his life. His works have remained in print more or less continuously since 1900.During the 1910s, Atkinson put his attention into another pseudonym, that of Theron Q. Dumont. This entity was supposed to be French, and his works, written in English and published in Chicago, combined an interest in New Thought with ideas about the training of the will, memory enhancement, and personal magnetism. The Art and Science of Personal Magnetism is a product of this period. |
