Classic documentary drama based on Walter Lord's book about the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Told from the perspective of Second Officer Charles Lightoller (Kenneth More), the story follows the supposedly 'unsinkable' ship as she embarks on her maiden voyage and ultimately founders in the North Atlantic Ocean. The ship leaves port and soon Captain Smith (Laurence Naismith) is given several ice warnings but decides not to decrease the Titanic's speed. When the ship hits an iceberg late at night on April 14th the situation looks bleak, especially with the realisation that there are not enough lifeboats to carry all on board. The Titanic's distress call is received by the Carpathia but she is four hours away and unlikely to reach the ship before it sinks. Chaos breaks out both above and below deck as the passengers and crew race against time for their survival.

The cowboys in question cut up a prostitute in a lawless town in Wyoming lorded over by the corrupt Sheriff Daggett, and if Munny and Logan want to catch them they are going to have to deal with Daggett first.

The film won four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Hackman) and Best Film Editing.

Nicholas Ray directs this film noir adaptation of the novel by Dorothy B. Hughes starring Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Grahame. Troubled screenwriter Dixon Steele (Bogart) is given the opportunity to reinvigorate his failing career by creating a film adaptation of a trashy novel. After balking at the thought of actually reading it, Dixon hires Mildred (Martha Stewart), who he meets in a bar, to summarise the novel for him. They leave the bar together but when Mildred is found murdered the next day Dixon is the prime suspect. His only forthcoming alibi is from Laurel Gray (Grahame), who testifies to his innocence out of affection, rather than truth. As the pair fall helplessly in love, Laurel is haunted by the possibility that Dixon was the murderer.

Powerful drama about loyalties and the industrial workplace in early 60s Britain. Factory worker Tom Arnold (Richard Attenborough) does not share the same feelings as his fellow workers in a developing industrial dispute and refuses to go on strike with them. This results in him being 'sent to Coventry' by all concerned, including his best friend Joe Wallace (Michael Craig). The newspapers soon hear about this and the story becomes a matter of national concern, with many different parties trying to use Tom's stance to their own ends.

D.W. Griffith co-writes and directs this epic and controversial account of the American Civil War and its aftermath. It tells the story of two families, the pro-Union Stonemans from the North and the pro-Confederacy Camerons from the South, and the way in which they are both caught up in the turmoil which befalls a sleepy Deep South town when Northern Abolitionists threaten to outlaw the slave trade which has existed there for years. Walthall)'s little sister dies at the hands of Gus (Walter Long), a black farmhand, and Ben dons a Ku Klux Klan mask both to avenge her death and to come to the rescue of his beloved girlfriend Elsie (Lillian Gish), who has been kidnapped by a corrupt mixed-race governor.

Cult Jamaican classic starring reggae star Jimmy Cliff as Ivanhoe Martin, a country boy who comes to Kingston to make it big in the music industry. Hampered by payola and music industry corruption, Ivanhoe turns to ganja-dealing to try and make ends meet. Events spiral out of his control and he soon finds himself on the run from the police. The celebrated soundtrack is peppered with reggae classics by the likes of Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker, The Melodians and Cliff himself who performs, among others, the title track and the timeless 'Many Rivers to Cross'.

However, complications arise when he becomes romantically entangled with one of the widows of his victims, Edith D'Ascoyne (Valerie Hobson). Will Louis be able to stay the course and murder his way to a Dukedom? In 'The Lavender Hill Mob' (1951) Guinness stars as a mild-mannered bank clerk whose sudden compulsion to rob the bank he works for causes all manner of chaos. Henry Holland (Guinness) has been trusted with delivering gold bullion for 20 years and is considered a safe pair of hands by his employers. However, Henry harbours dreams of becoming rich and hatches a plan to steal the gold when he makes the acquaintance of the artist, Alfred Pendlebury (Stanley Holloway). The pair realise that if Alfred melts the stolen gold into miniature statues of the Eiffel Tower, it could be smuggled safely to France and sold on. However, things go awry when the gold statues become mixed in with a group of ordinary statues, leading to a frantic chase as Henry and Alfred try to recover the gold without their crime being detected. The film features a brief cameo from a young Audrey Hepburn. In 'The Man in the White Suit' (1951) eccentric Sidney Stratton (Guiness) is a laboratory cleaner in a textile factory, who invents a material that will neither wear out nor become dirty. Initially hailed as a great discovery, Sidney's astonishing invention is suffocated by the management when they realise that if it never wears out, people will only ever have to purchase one suit of clothing.

The film won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, while both Hoffman and Voight were nominated for Best Actor.

Roy Boulton directs this classic adaptation of the Graham Greene novel detailing the activities of a group of thugs in 1930s Brighton. Pinkie Brown (Richard Attenborough) is the head of a gang of small time crooks who make their money from a protection racket centred around Brighton race course. Pinkie is known for his short fuse and brutality, so his murder of a rival, Fred (Alan Wheatley), is very much in character. Pinkie believes, nonetheless, that he has got away with the crime until the promptings of a suspicious local woman, Ida (Hermione Baddeley), threaten to have the case reopened. Since only one person can identify him as the murderer, the waitress, Rose Brown (Carol Marsh), Pinkie comes up with an ingenious solution - marry Rose to stop her testifying against him. But will things go to plan?
