The Golden Couple (Paperback): Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen The Golden Couple (Paperback)
Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen
R250 R227 Discovery Miles 2 270 Save R23 (9%) Ships in 5 - 10 working days

From Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, the authors of the top ten bestseller The Wife Between Us, comes The Golden Couple - a compelling psychological thriller that will keep you guessing to the very end. Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple, until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things - both because she loves her husband, and for the sake of their eight-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her licence due to controversial methods. If Avery Chambers can't fix you in ten sessions, she won't take you on as a client. She helps people overcome everything, from anxiety to domineering parents. Her successes almost help her absorb the emptiness she feels since her husband's death. When the Bishops glide through Avery's door, all three are immediately set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it's no longer simply a marriage that's in danger. 'The Golden Couple is propulsive and thrilling. It grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go. A page-turner that will keep you guessing until the very end' - Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Daisy Jones and The Six and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Two-Way Murder (Paperback): E.C.R. Lorac Two-Way Murder (Paperback)
E.C.R. Lorac; Introduction by Martin Edwards
R277 R252 Discovery Miles 2 520 Save R25 (9%) Ships in 9 - 17 working days

A lost novel from the golden age of crime, published for the very first time. It happened on a dark and misty night; the night of the ball at The Prince's Hall, Fordings. Abuzz with rumours surrounding the disappearance of Rosemary Reeve on the eve of last year's ball, the date proves ill-fated again when two homebound partygoers, Nick and Dilys, come to a swerving halt before a corpse on the road. Arriving at the scene to the news that Nick has been attacked after telephoning for the police, Inspector Turner suspects there may be more to the case than deadly accident. It's not long before Waring of the local C.I.D. is drawn into the investigation, faced with the task of unravelling an increasingly tangled knot of misleading alibis and deep-rooted local grievances. Written in the last years of the author's life, this previously unpublished novel is a tribute to Lorac's enduring skill for constructing an ingenious puzzle, replete with memorable characters and gripping detective work. This edition also includes an introduction by the CWA Diamond Dagger Award-winning author Martin Edwards.

A chance discovery in the village of Cullybackey Co. Antrim in 2006 reveals the documents relating to a previously unknown investigator of Ballymena Co. Antrim, one Brock Adair. Born in 1771 he and his colleague Charles Kinhilt, a solicitor from Cullybackey, conducted numerous investigations into crime in the Co. Antrim area and in the whole of Ireland. These were conducted prior to an established police force in Ireland. Charles Kinhilt had recorded the details of Brock Adair's investigations. He assisted Brock with these enquiries. Both Charles and Brock were educated locally in Ballymena and latterly at Trinity College Dublin. Brock Adair was called upon by the Local military commander Captain Dickey to assist with a number of enquiries. He gained a reputation of being an outstanding observer and investigator. This short story outlines the enquiries made by Brock Adair and Charles Kinhilt into the vicious murder of Florence McSorley in Meeting House Lane Ballymena in 1796. Brock investigates this vicious attack on the mother of two. It shocks the community. Will he be able to find the killer? This is one of a number of enquiries lead by Brock Adair.
