In one of his most popular lecture courses - formerly published as Man as Symphony of the Creative Word - Rudolf Steiner presents an extraordinary panorama of spiritual knowledge centring on the human being. We are the harmony of creation - a microcosm - containing within us 'all the laws and secrets of the world'. Steiner begins by speaking about our inner relationship to three ancient and sacred representatives of the animal kingdom - eagle, lion and bul - and to the forces of the cosmos that form them. He goes on to deepen these themes by approaching the plant and animal worlds in the context of planetary and cosmic evolution. A new category is then introduced: the elemental nature spirits - the metaphysical beings who work with plants and animals. Steiner gives a unique and intimate description of them and describes the cooperation they offer to mankind. Finally, the human being - the 'harmony of the Creative Word' - is placed at the heart of this spiritual celebration of life.
Third film in the action series. Brooding loner Shaun Boswell (Lucas Black) has always been an outsider, his only connection to the indifferent world through illegal street racing. To avoid jail time, Shaun is sent out of the country to live with his uncle, sharing a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal challenge ... drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses. When Shaun unknowingly takes on a Yakuza gangster in his first race, he finds that the only way he can pay off the debt is to venture into the deadly realm of the Tokyo underworld, where the stakes are life and death.
A double helping of big screen outings for the Power Rangers. In 'Power Rangers - The Movie' the six high school teens turned heroic Power Rangers battle against the unleashed evil morphological being Ivan Ooze. After being accidentally released from a chamber, Ivan Ooze plans, somewhat predictably, to take over the Earth and destroy the Power Rangers, and their mentor Zordon. Zordon is soon weakened and our heroes set out on a quest to the distant planet Thadus to find the 'Great Power' which will make them stronger so they can face the battle that awaits them. Whilst in 'Turbo - A Power Rangers Movie' the Power Rangers return with a trusty new companion - the Blue Power Ranger. Together they must make a stand against the evil plan of Divatox and his fiery volcano monster before Earth is obliterated. As the adventure hots up, our heroes receive unexpected help from two of the original Rangers.
A collection of short stories set in Yeoville from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. The stories capture with a dark humour the lives of young people trying to make a go of things, given the constraints of the country and the volatile period. Most of the stories have been published in literary magazines or in collections of stories including a collection published in Uganda. A slightly earlier version of the title story was published in a collection of stories by South African women edited by Maggie Davey, Dinaane, Telegraph Books, London.
In this outstanding Oscar winning, psychological and political thriller, we get a fascinating insight into the lengths and depths that the East European government went to in order to keep tabs on the lives of its population in the 80's. When cold and brutal official Wiesler is given the task of spying on acclaimed playright Dreyman and his actress girlfriend, he relishes the task, knowing that if he uncovers subversive behaviour he will gain favour with his boss. But the longer he listens in on the couple, their friendships, passions and ideas, the more he realises that his own life and the harsh political regime are lacking in colour and joy in many respects. Slowly he begins to doubt the morality of his job and politics. As the lines between orders and compassion become blurred, Wiesler becomes more involved with his subject, walking a dangerous path between his duty and his new found reality. (German with English subtitles)
