Ron Hazani, Mohamed Amir Mrad, David Tauber, Jason Ulm, Alan Yan, …
R2,156 Discovery Miles 21 560 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book systematically presents a collection of entities, syndromes, and diseases that are diagnosed and treated by plastic surgeons, hand surgeons, otolaryngologists, oral surgeons, and dermatologists. The goal is to document an extensive array of signs and visual clues that are critical to the diagnostic process, thereby enhancing the clinician's ability to identify relevant diagnostic features and make correct diagnoses. Skill in recognizing deformities and disease processes by observation is of vital importance in plastic surgery, which is very much a visual surgical specialty. In drawing together key diagnostic signs, this book will spare readers the onerous task of searching through endless resources, books, and websites. A helpful appendix details the various classification systems used in the book with the aid of appropriate diagrams. Clinical Diagnosis in Plastic Surgery is intended for students, residents, practicing physicians, and surgeons in all of the affiliated fields of plastic surgery.

Comparative Effectiveness and Efficacy Research and Analysis for Practice (CEERAP) - Applications in Health Care (Paperback,... Comparative Effectiveness and Efficacy Research and Analysis for Practice (CEERAP) - Applications in Health Care (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2012)
Francesco Chiappelli; Edited by (associates) Xenia Maria Caldeira Brant, Corazon B. Cajulis
R5,249 Discovery Miles 52 490 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Recent trends in health care across the United States and internationally have emphasized a novel approach that consists in comparing the effectiveness and efficacy of treatment interventions with a patient-centered emphasis (i.e., evidence-based health care), while ensuring cost constraints, maximizing benefits, and minimizing risks. In this book, experts in comparative effectiveness and efficacy research and analysis for practice (CEERAP) in health care in general address a range of topical issues. The emphasis is on implications for endodontics and nursing, both of which are considered in a series of detailed chapters. Commonalities and differences among CEERAP, utility-based and logic-based analysis and decision-making, and evidence-based and patient-centered practice are defined and discussed. The book concludes by examining applications for CEERAP in developing patient-centered optimal treatment interventions for the next decade.

Topics in Dental Biochemistry (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2011): Martin Levine Topics in Dental Biochemistry (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2011)
Martin Levine
R3,258 Discovery Miles 32 580 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Over the last 20 years, biochemistry and molecular biology have undergone a revolution that has affected our understanding of the oral cavity. Topics in Dental Biochemistry is primarily designed for students of dentistry who need to relate biochemistry and molecular biology to dentally related topics in physiology, nutrition, anatomy, histology, microbiology, and immunology. The book will also be of value for dental professionals, scientists, and practitioners of medicine who are interested in hard and soft tissue structure and disease. It provides the necessary basic scientific background for a clearer understanding of bone, tooth, saliva, and surrounding soft tissue research and also for an appreciation of how dental caries and periodontal disease might be better diagnosed and controlled in the future. Dentistry was developed to treat dental caries, but since the early 20th century it has increasingly been treating periodontal, traumatic and genetic diseases affecting tooth structure and attachment. Fluoridation is discussed at length. Other methods for controlling dental caries and new or suggested methods for controlling oral hygiene and periodontal disease are also discussed.

T. Metin Oenerci
R4,278 Discovery Miles 42 780 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

In preparing the material for this book, I took the advice of my students who generously shared their views and opinions with me. I was told that it would be preferable to have images of the various diseases with legends describing the disease. Students would be able to learn and retain the inf- mation more successfully if the material was accompanied by pictures and schematic drawings. Recent advances in technology have made it possible to photograph regions that are difcult to view with the naked eye, such as the ear, nose, throat, nasopharynx, and larynx - all the areas of otorhinolaryngology. Such an illustrated text in this feld is important and necessary for teaching purposes. In this book I tried to compile images of the basic conditions that are commonly seen in general practice and to give the reader a visual survey with a brief description of the condition. I added tables and schematic drawings in order to provide practical information. It is not the purpose of this book to be a comprehensive textbook, since many textbooks are already available with more detailed information of the conditions illustrated here. This book is primarily intended for medical students, family and general practitioners, and ENT trainees. It may also serve as basic reading material for those in allied specialties. I hope my colleagues fnd this book useful and it contributes toward their teaching purposes.

Diagnose oral diseases quickly and accurately! Oral Pathology: Clinical Pathologic Correlations, 7th Edition presents diseases and conditions by appearance and presentation, so that you can easily identify and plan treatment for common oral and paraoral problems. An atlas-style overview of pathologic conditions opens the book, and then each chapter describes pathologies in detail - depicting each with full-color clinical photos and photomicrographs. In addition to covering the latest advances in oral pathology, this edition includes new radiographic images demonstrating advanced imaging techniques. Expert educators Joseph Regezi, James Sciubba, and Richard Jordan provide a quick reference that's ideal for the lab, NBDE review, or chairside use! Organization of oral and maxillofacial diseases by clinical appearance - such as red-blue lesions or pigmented lesions - matches what you would expect to see upon a patient's presentation, and provides a practical tool for developing differential diagnoses and planning treatment. Nearly 1,000 full-color clinical photographs, photomicrographs, radiographs, and drawings help you learn to identify lesions and disease states. An atlas-style Clinical Overview section makes it easy to find key information, with one page showing clinical photos of common conditions and the facing page listing symptoms, causes, and significance. Nearly 200 summary boxes and tables offer clear, at-a-glance information on the clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment for many conditions. Correlation of histopathology with clinical features of oral diseases assists the clinician in recognizing specific conditions and developing differential diagnoses and rational treatment approaches. Student resources on an Evolve companion website include 30 case studies, interactive lecture modules, and a 150-question practice exam to prepare you for the NBDE and for clinical practice. UPDATED content reflects current information and the latest advances in oral and maxillofacial pathology.
