These Big Books introduce a variety of text types to learners. The
Big Books include stories, simple factual texts, rhymes, riddles,
jokes and graphic texts. It has been developed to introduce a
variety of text formats. The level of difficulty in the Big Books
increase – the first books have more repetitive texts and it
becomes more difficult while stimulating the learner’s increasing
visual literacy and language level. The books are suited to the
Grade 2 learners’ level of development, frame of reference and
humour. This book is suited to the topic in the Home Language (and
Life Skills) Learner’s Book and Teacher’s Guide. This book can be
used in more than one reading lesson (as described in the Teacher’s
Guide). The animals in the aquarium see a child with round legs
visiting the aquarium. They've never seen a child with round legs.
This graded reader is the second book in the first level. It
enriches reading, develops an interest in books and reading and
helps learners to develop their vocabulary and reading in Grade R.
This reading series is graded from easy-to-read language (Level
1-4) to more difficult reading (Level 5-8). The series comprises
forty readers - one reader per teaching week - in which learners
are introduced to phonics, initial sounds and sight words. This
reader is part of the Early Emergent Reading Level, is a factual
book with pictures and is used for Shared Reading. This reading
series is used with the New all-in-one Grade R Home Language
Learner’s Book, Workbook, Phonics Book and Teacher’s Guide for
optimal learning. It can also be used with another teaching
programme.
The New all-in-one Graded Reading Series Grade R takes learners on
a reading adventure and is compiled to enrich reading, to develop a
interest in books and reading and helps learners to improve their
vocabulary and language. The visual material in these readers
incorporate the race demography in South Africa.
