Gamiani, or Two Passionate Nights (1833) is a novel by Alfred de Musset. Published anonymously to widespread controversy and commercial success, de Musset's lesbian erotic novel was inspired by his own heated affair with George Sand, a French novelist who pursued relationships with men and women throughout her life. Attending a dance at the opulent home of the Countess Gamiani, Alcide hears a rumor about his hostess' sexual appetites. Intrigued, he remains behind after the guests have left, hoping to join her for a romantic tryst: "I made up my mind to watch her that night, to conceal myself somewhere in her bedroom. The glass door of her dressing room faced the bed. I knew that. I realised at once the advantage of that spot; and hiding between dresses hung up, so that I could see unseen, I resolved to patiently await the orgy." Finding her in bed with a young woman named Fanny, Alcide soon makes his presence known. Between scenes of intense passion, the women share stories of sexual escapades between men, women, priests, nuns, and animals. Gamiani, or Two Passionate Nights is a masterpiece of erotic fiction that remains an object of interest to scholars of queer representation in the history of art. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Alfred de Musset's Gamiani, or Two Passionate Nights is a classic work of erotic literature reimagined for modern readers.
The Prelude to Teleny (1899) is an erotic novel published anonymously, yet often attributed to Irish playwright Oscar Wilde. A loosely related prequel to the novel Teleny (1893), which is considered one of the first works of fiction to openly depict homosexuality, The Prelude to Teleny is the story of a young girl's sexual awakening and subsequent downfall, as well as of the son she bears. "My childhood was a very dull one. I am hardly certain whether I remember my mother or not, for I was only about two years old when she died. By an effort it seems to me that I can recollect having been taken into a dark hushed room, where she was asleep-of having been lifted on a couch and made to kiss her. Her face was as white as marble, seemed quite as cold; so that the contact of my warm lips with that clammy flesh produced an indelible impression upon me." Before she was reduced to this lifeless state, Camille Des Grieux was a young girl with her whole life ahead of her. On a sultry night in the south of France, she has her first sexual experience with a strange young drifter. Unsure if this was a real or just an intense dream, she wakes in the morning with a strange new sensation, and soon finds evidence of another's presence all around her room. Filled with brief scenes of romance and lust between its insatiable cast of characters, The Prelude to Teleny is an erotic novel that continues to entertain, shock, and surprise over a century after it was published. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of The Prelude to Teleny is a classic work of Victorian erotica reimagined for modern readers.

We usually think of women as the victims of pornography rather than its consumers. Whether appearing in films, peering provocatively from the pages of magazines, or posing on explicit Web-sites, women are considered the dehumanized objects of unseen lascivious male viewers. But in her controversial new book "One for the Girls ," Clarissa Smith debunks this myth and challenges women to read, watch, and enjoy pornography on their own terms. Focusing on the British magazine "For Women," Smith looks at its readers' responses to male pinups and erotica and explores the intricacies of women's unique reactions to pornography. "Clarissa Smith has achieved something special with her new proffering from her masculinities repertoire. Smith's text is groundbreaking, multidisciplinary and--equally importantly--extremely readable. It is the last point perhaps that really sets this work apart, as One for the Girls has a great deal to offer both the specialist academic and the general reader. Clarissa Smith's accessible style allows readers with little prior knowledge of critical theory, cultural studies or the 1980s pornography debate, to not only understand these discourses, but to develop a strong grasp of their impact in this context."--Michelle Parsons, "Transition Tradition"""
