What would you do if you suspect your best friend, who happens to
be a giant egg, was killed but everyone else thinks it was an
accident? "Humpty Dumpty Was Pushed," a collection of twenty-two
short fairy tale-like stories, tackles that question and many more.
In this collection's title story, Chicken Little is certain his
friend did not fall from the ledge, and he intends to prove there
is a conspiracy. Will he discover the truth before it's too late?
Filled with interesting and delightful characters, these short
stories ask questions not raised before. Can a reverse vampire find
true love? Can the World Nose Hair champion really make the world a
better place? Is it ever wise to stick cheese noodles in your nose?
Can one live their life squeezing other people's ears in peace? If
a whale and a tiger had a fight who would win?
Incorporating familiar characters in children's literature and
folklore, "Humpty Dumpty Was Pushed" tells a series of tales with
surprises to keep you guessing. Each story asks a different
question, and each story offers a different, strange answer.
Lanky Dank is the lone survivor of a terrible shipwreck, which
leaves him in a state of amnesia and distressing fear. He finds
himself on the shores of Urula Beach, where hes rescued by a passel
of dwarfish people-the Tattertoids. Their roundish faces were as
dazzling as their oddish duds. It was hard to look into their eyes
that stuck out on the surface of their cinnamon skin like
glittering marbles. They bring him to their strange dwelling in a
cave inside Warwick Hill. Just as stunned with the interior of
their home as hed been with their appearance, Lanky Dank felt he
was surely dreaming. Fear possessed him. And when he learns at
length the eldest son, Izzie, has run off with Warrior Wolfe who
had been ordered by the King to go and reconnonoitre the lair of
four dragons whod shut up the neighboring kings castle in the Land
Beyond the River, Lanky Dank wanted no part of it. But to show his
gratitude to the Tattertoids for rescueing him, he drags himself
along willy-nilly.
Can Lanky Dank overcome his debilitating fear and be of some use
in the inevitable showdown with the ferocious Formidable Four?
In a far off land of Fos, an enchanting king and queen rule the
land. Queen Sofia and King Savitar have many children; they love
their children very, very much, so they decide to send them on an
exciting adventure. Their daughter, Anthea, leaves on her journey
and lands in a garden called Talia, where she is quick to make
friends with a sunflower named Zoe.
Together, Anthea and Zoe begin their travels through the four
corners of Talia, each protected by archangels Michael, Gabriel,
Raphael, and Uriel, respectively. Anthea is excited that the
flowers speak; she is so happy to befriend them, spreading the
light of Fos wherever she goes. She also meets an orchid by the
name of Grace who is planning a party for the autistic children at
Sanasiel's Infirmary in the Land of the Raphaels.
Zoe and Anthea decide to help Grace spread the word about the
party. They travel to the four corners, making new friends while
they learn about tolerance, gratitude, and imagination. But there
are dark forces in Talia known as the Erebus--a group of
meat-eating shrubs. In order to make it home, Anthea must be
careful; even so, it's worth the risk to help Grace and the
autistic children, all in the name of love.

The books which have been written of late years about Japan have
either been compiled from official records, or have contained the
sketchy impressions of passing travelers. Of the inner life of the
Japanese the world at large knows but little: their religion, their
superstitions, their ways of thought, the hidden springs by which
they move -- all these are as yet mysteries. Nor is this to be
wondered at.
The recent revolution in Japan has wrought changes social as
well as political; and it may be that when, in addition to the
advance which has already been made, railways and telegraphs shall
have connected the principal points of the Land of Sunrise, the old
Japanese, such as he was and had been for centuries when we found
him eleven short years ago, will have become extinct. . . .
