Demba Ba signed on 4 January 2013 for CHELSEA FC for an undisclosed fee. The Senegal international moved to Stamford Bridge following an 18-month spell with Newcastle United, and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues. He was eligible to play in the FA Cup and Capital One Cup in his first season here, but could not play for us in the Europa League having appeared in the competition for Newcastle. The 27-year-old enjoyed a memorable time on Tyneside, where his ruthlessness in front of goal played a major part in last season's fifth-place league finish. Most comfortable playing as a lone striker, Ba's predatory instincts in and around the penalty area make him a difficult player to handle and he also possesses the ability to score spectacular goals. Born in Sevres, in the suburbs of Paris, Ba's career began at Port Autonome du Havre, where he played for two years between 1998 and 2000, before moving to Frileuse. After a short spell with the French club, Ba, who started out playing in the centre of midfield but moved up front at the age of 18, transferred to Montrouge in 2001. It was there he began to make a name for himself, and he then headed to England where he was offered trials with Barnsley and Watford. Having enjoyed a fruitful relationship with former Chelsea player Ray Lewington, who was Watford manager at the time, it looked as though Ba had found a place to settle. However, when Lewington left soon after, Ba moved back to France where he signed a one-year deal with Rouen in the Third Division. A return of seven goals in 32 matches earned him a move to Mouscron, in the Belgian top flight, where an impressive albeit short spell paved the way for his transfer to 1899 Hoffenheim in the German Second Division at the beginning of the 2007/08 campaign. It was to prove a significant time in Ba's development, and he was a key figure in helping the club gain promotion to the Bundesliga. Their first season back in the top flight saw Hoffenheim finish in a respectable seventh, aided in no small part by Ba's 14 goals. In January 2011, he was back in England, and signed for West Ham United. After making his bow for the Hammers as a substitute in a game against Birmingham City, Ba endeared himself to the supporters a week later on his full debut, where his two goals helped West Ham fight back from 3-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw away at West Bromwich Albion. On a personal level, his time at Upton Park went well, with seven goals in 12 appearances, but collectively the team underperformed resulting in their relegation from the Barclays Premier League, prompting Ba's move to Newcastle United. He netted two hat-tricks in quick succession, against Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, at the beginning of the 2011/12 season. This impressive start to life at St James's Park was rewarded with the Premier League Player of the Month award in December 2011, and he finished the season as the club's top scorer with 16 goals to his name. The 2012/13 campaign saw Ba continue where he left off, as he broke the deadlock with a fantastic volley against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the season, while shortly after his brace at Goodison Park helped Alan Pardew's men secure a well-earned 2-2 draw against Everton. His last performance in a Newcastle shirt came in their final game of 2012, a 7-3 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates where he netted a brace. Ba has established himself as a regular in the Senegal international set-up since scoring on his debut back in 2007 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania. He is the first Senegalese player to join Chelsea. Ba made his Chelsea debut in an FA Cup third round tie away at Southampton, and it proved an introduction to remember as he scored twice in a 5-1 win for the Blues. He scored his first home goal for the club 11 days later in a Premier League game against the same opposition, opening the scoring in a 2-2 draw. Ba suffered a broken nose on his return to St James' Park as the Blues fell to a 3-2 defeat in February.

Mainly a left back, he can also operate as a left winger, and occasionally as a central midfielder. Real Madrid On 5 July 2011, after extensive negotiations, Benfica and Real Madrid reached an agreement in principle over the transfer of Coentrao, who signed a six-year contract the same day, for 30m. Central defender Ezequiel Garay went in the other direction as part of the deal. Coentrao made his Real Madrid debut in a pre-season friendly against L.A. Galaxy on 16 July 2011, creating an assist for Karim Benzema and also receiving Man of the match honours. His first two official games were against FC Barcelona for the season's Spanish Supercup: in the first leg, he replaced Sami Khedira in the second half of a 2-2 home draw and played as a central midfielder, and he started as left-back in the second match, a 2-3 loss at the Camp Nou. Coentrao made his La Liga debut on 28 August 2011 against former club Zaragoza, appearing as a central midfielder in a 6-0 away win (90 minutes played). While he played mostly in these positions, he was also deployed by manager Jose Mourinho as a right defender, against Sporting de Gijon on 3 December and against Barcelona the following week. Fabio Coentrao is one of the best left backs in the current football scene thanks to his solid game in attack, excellent dribbling skills, powerful shot and varsatility, which allows him to play anywhere down the wings. He is very experienced despite his young age. The first important team he played for was Rio Ave, with whom he made his First Division debut when he was just 16. His excellent performances caught Benfica's attention, who decided to sign him in 2007 and loaned him out to Nacional, notching 16 appearances and 4 goals. Coentrao returned to Rio Ave after a brief spell with Spanish side Zaragoza. His good run in the 2008/09 campaign secured his return to Benfica, with whom he truly blossomed and won his first titles, such as the 2009/10 edition of the league and the 2010/11 Cup of Portugal. Coentrao first played for his country on the youth national teams, making his first team debut in 2009 against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Ross Turnbull is an English footballer who plays for Chelsea as a goalkeeper. Chelsea On 2 July 2009, Turnbull joined Chelsea on a free transfer, signing a four-year contract. Turnbull announced that he would not sit by as a permanent second place keeper to regular starting goalkeeper Petr Cech and that he would fight for his own first team place. His first involvement in the first team was after being named on the bench for Chelsea's first game of the 2009-10 season against Hull City at Stamford Bridge, which finished 2-1 in favour of Chelsea. Turnbull had a Chelsea reserves debut to forget when he made a series of blunders as the team lost 4-0 to Aston Villa. He made his first team debut against Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup, coming on for the injured Henrique Hilario after 23 minutes, a game which Chelsea won 4-0. He made his first start in the UEFA Champions League 2-2 draw against APOEL. He made his Premier League debut against West Ham United in a 4-1 win as Petr Cech and Henrique Hilario respectively were both injured. The following Tuesday, he started for Chelsea against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge, in which he conceded a goal with Inter winning 1-0 but otherwise had a decent performance. He made another Premier League appearance against Blackburn Rovers in a 1-1 draw on 21 March 2010. He was not part of the matchday squad who defeated Portsmouth in the 2010 FA Cup Final, but still received a winner's medal. He did not play enough games that season to earn a Premier League medal. Turnbull made his first appearance of the 2010/2011 season when he played in the League Cup third round against Newcastle United as Chelsea went on to lose 4-3. On 23 November 2010, Turnbull made another appearance in the Champions League Matchday 5 group stage against Slovakian side MsK Zilina as Chelsea won 2-1 when they came from a goal down to beat them. For the most part of the season, Turnbull remained second choice keeper behind Cech. In the 2011/12 season, Turnbull began to get some more playing time. His first appearance of the 2011/12 season came he played in the League Cup third round against Fulham. The game finished 0-0 after extra time, and Chelsea subsequently beat Fulham 4-3 on penalties to go through to the next round. During normal time, Turnbull saved a penalty from Pajtim Kasami after Alex gave away the penalty (which resulted in a red card for Alex). In the penalty shootout, Turnbull saved 2 penalties from Moussa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz. His next appearance in the League Cup was in the last 16 match against Everton. With 58 minutes gone, he conceded a penalty and received a red card. Cech took his place after coming on for Romelu Lukaku and saved the penalty from Leighton Baines. Chelsea went on to beat Everton 2-1 and go through to the next round. A quarter final appearance followed, and was to be his, and Chelsea's, last in the League Cup as they lost 2-0 to Liverpool. During the match, Turnbull saved a penalty from Andy Carroll, given away once again by Alex. With the 2011-12 Premier League season almost over, Turnbull played the final two league games against Liverpool (lost 4-1) and Blackburn (won 2-1) as Cech was rested prior to the Champions League Final, in which Turnbull picked up a medal as an unused substitute. The game against Liverpool was his first league match in 2 years. His poor clearance led directly to a goal from Jonjo Shelvey.
