Having worked his way through the ranks at United, Danny Welbeck established himself as a first-team regular of real talent in 2011/12. Capable of scoring spectacular goals, he was first handed a senior squad number for the 2008/09 season after starring for the Academy and Reserves. The Manchester born frontman joined United's youth set-up in summer 2007 and quickly caught the eye with his skilful, strong and pacy displays. As a schoolboy, Welbeck played a prominent role in the Under-18s' run to the 2006/07 FA Youth Cup final. He bagged nine goals in 14 starts for the Academy in 2007/08 and seven goals in 11 starts for the Reserves, including a superb hat-trick against Manchester City, as the Reds' second string won both the Manchester and Lancashire Senior Cups. His performances earned him a call up to the first-team squad for United's winter trip to Saudi Arabia. Although he missed a last-minute penalty, Welbeck impressed in his 25 minute appearance against Al Hilal.
In the past three seasons Alexandre Dimitri Song Billong has carvedhimself a niche as Arsenal's No 1 defensive midfielder.
Strong in the tackle, positionally aware and a good distributor of theball, he is becoming a master at protecting his back four, breaking upopposition forays and initiating attacks.
Arsene Wenger made his singing permanent at the end of the season afteran impressive start to the Cameroon man's Arsenal career.
2006/07 First-team opportunities were few and far between at Arsenal and Alexwas the loaned out to Premier League side Charlton in January.
Before Christmas he made just four starts, though he did score hisfirst goal in an Arsenal shirt during a 6-3 victory at Anfield in theCarling Cup. He grabbed the Gunners' third in fortuitous fashion asSami Hyypia's attempted clearance bounced in off the midfielder afterCesc Fabregas' corner had cleared a bunch of players at the near post.
He spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Charlton where heimpressed greatly despite their relegation to the Championship. "It wasgood for me to play every week. I played maybe 12 or 13 games," he saidof his time with the Addicks.
2007/08 Alex made further inroads into Arsene Wenger's first team as hefeatured 15 times throughout the season. Although playing the majorityof those matches as a holding midfielder he also operated in defence.
He impressed in Arsenal's run to the Carling Cup Semi-Finals and havingearned a late call-up to Cameroon's squad for the Africa Cup ofNations, was named in the tournament's Best XI.
Injury sidelined Alex on his return from that competition though he wasa surprise inclusion to face Manchester United in a vital title clashin April. He barely put a foot wrong at Old Trafford and went on toplay every minute of Arsenal's last five Premier League fixtures.
In June, he signed a new long-term contract with the Club.
2008/09 was Alex's breakthrough season. The then 21-year-oldestablished himself as a key member of Arsene Wenger's squad, making 48appearances in all competitions.
He enjoyed his most productive and eye-catching campaign yet as heemerged as a genuine midfield enforcer - the perfect foil for CescFabregas in the Arsenal engine room.
Arsene Wenger's 4-3-3 formation allowed Alex to flourish in 2009/10season in his preferred position behind the more attack-mindedmidfielders but he did get forward to score one goal - a thumpingheader against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
That was his final Premier League contribution before heading to theAfrica Cup of Nations and Alex was missed. His absence was also keenlyfelt when injury ruled him out of vital trips to Barcelona, Tottenhamand Wigan. It's not outlandish to suggest that Arsenal would have madea better fist of those three games with their midfield rock in place.

Sergio Ramos Garcia is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Madrid and the Spain national football team. Mainly a central defender, he can perform equally as a right back. After emerging through Sevilla's youth system, he went on to be a defensive mainstay for both Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, gaining his first cap at the age of 18. Sergio Ramos was trained in Sevilla's youth system and made his first team debut at the age of 17 and under the tutelage of manager Joaquin Caparros. The Andalusian has always stood out for his grit, determination, and self-confidence and is well on track to becoming the most prolific Spanish defender of all time -UEFA named him Newcomer of the 2004/05 Liga-. Real Madrid saw Ramos as the perfect centre-back to fill the hole left by Fernando Hierro and signed him in 2005. Since his arrival in the Spanish capital, Sergio has been an example of hard work, dedication, and potential. Once on the pitch, he showcases drive, leadership, excellent defensive skills, great speed, a powerful shot, and a phenomenal goal-scoring instinct. Ramos joined the Club as a centre-back but established himself as a right-back during the 2006/07 and 2007/08 campaign; his amazing versatility makes him a great asset for any coach. Sergio Ramos is a key figure on the team, a leader and a captain. The defender from Seville is also a regular on the Spanish national team. At 19, he became the youngest man to make his debut with Spain in 55 years. He made history with Spain again by being in the second squad to win the European Championship in 2008 (Spain previously won the title in 1964) and by helping the team win its first ever World Cup trophy in South Africa 2010.
THE ARRIVAL of Esteban Felix Granero Molina from Real Madrid represented yet another significant coup the R's. The 25 year-old midfielder, who joined Madrid as an eight year-old, arrives at Loftus Road just months after helping Real win the La Liga title. After coming through the ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu, Granero made the step up to Madrid's C squad at the age of 17, standing out for his talent and passing skills, and going on to receive the Numeros 1 Don Balon award as the 'Most Valuable Player' of the fourth division Group 7 in 2005/06. Granero - who is also known as El Pirata (the pirate) in Spain owing to his outlandish hairstyle- spent the 2008/09 campaign on loan at Getafe - also based in Madrid - making 27 appearances and scoring three goals. At the end of the season, which included a run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup, Granero returned to Madrid. However, Getafe came back in for the midfielder in July 2008, with Granero penning a permanent deal. Under the terms of the deal, Madrid agreed a re-buy option, which after making 35 appearances and scoring five goals in the 2008/09 season, was exercised in July 2009 in a deal reported to be worth four million euros. Granero's first Madrid goal at senior level arrived in the opening game of the 2009/10 season away at Espanyol, and he went on to make 31 appearances in La Liga. The arrivals of Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil in 2010 restricted his starts the following season, but Granero was still a valuable squad player, scoring a crucial goal from the bench in a 1-1 draw versus Almeria, as well as playing his part in their Copa del Rey triumph over Barcelona. Last season, Granero played a vital role in the Madrid squad that clinched the La Liga title. He made 17 La Liga appearances, as Jose Mourinho's side saw off the threat of Barcelona to win their first league crown in four years.
