IT IS CLAIMED BY THE ALMIGHTY. . . Whoever carries this book with him, is safe from all his enemies, visible or invisible; and whoever has this book with him cannot die without the holy corpse of Jesus Christ, nor drowned in any water, nor burn up in any fire, nor can any unjust sentence be passed upon him. So help me. THOUSANDS CLAIM MIRACULOUS CURES THROUGH USE OF OLD PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH MAGICAL POW-WOWS. PRACTICED FOR CENTURIES BY DEVOTED CHRISTIANS, POW WOWS HAS BECOME A HIDDEN RELIGION WITHIN A RELIGION DRIVEN UNDERGROUND BY NEEDLESS PERSECUTION. Over 200 Remedies Handed Down From Generation To Generation. For centuries, people have been using the Holy Scripture to induce magical principles. Some of this has come down to us in the magical practices called Pow-Wows. The majority of these ancient techniques have been handed down from generation to generation mostly by word of mouth. Many have no idea that other practitioners of the ancient art even exist. The rise of evangelical Christianity has forced many Pow-Wow adepts to go underground, or even give up practicing altogether. For a long time churches have taught that all magic is inherently evil and that anyone who practices it is to be condemned and possibly even put to death. This has little actually to do with a few verses in the Bible that speak against witches and diviners, and more to do with the churches power base that has held control over the people for centuries. Many so-called "good Christians" would be horrified to know that many common Christian rituals would be considered magic by their overly broad definitions. In fact, the Bible has been used for magical purposes for centuries by people who would never consider themselves as practitioners of magic. Others, however, have fully realized that Pow-Wow fits within the constraints of "sorcery" and have kept the truth to themselves, only allowing immediate family to learn the age-old practice. Pow-Wow first came to the United States when German settlers began arriving in the late 17th century, settling in Pennsylvania. Two distinct groups of German immigrants came to Pennsylvania. The Fancy Germans, or Lutherans, and the Plain or Pietist Germans. The Pietist Germans included members of the Mennonite, Amish, Dunker, and Brethren denominations. Native Americans were present, at least initially, when the Germans arrived and the term Pow-Wow was possibly derived from the early settlers' observations of Indian Pow-Wows. The word may also be a derivative of the word "power" or may come from the Native American Pow-Wow definition meaning "he who dreams." Pow-Wowing includes some charms and incantations dating from the Middle Ages plus elements borrowed from the Jewish Qabala and Christian Bible. Pow-wowing generally focuses on healing minor health problems, the protection of livestock, success in love, and the casting or removing of hexes. For over 200 years, Pow-Wowers have considered themselves to be staunch Christians endowed with supernatural powers to both heal and harm. Using Pow-Wow can be simple or highly complicated and involves the recital of benedictions, Psalms and selected Biblical verses for magical purposes according to Jewish and Christian magical traditions. PUT THE POW WOWS INTO USE FOR YOURSELF, FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Here are over 200 remedies. Some very practical to this day. Others a bit fanciful for the era we live in, but certainly of importance as an historical reference as is this entire work. Partial Pow-Wow Index: A certain remedy to stop bleeding; A remedy against slander; A very good remedy for palpitation of the heart; A precaution against injuries; To make a wand for searching for iron or water; A way to obtain things desired; To destroy warts; To gain God's Favor; and many, many more
When the authors stumbled across the Naadi palm-leaf readers of India they were in India for a wedding. Angela Donovan found it a deeply uplifting experience, but for her husband Andrew it was a life-changing moment that left him reeling, his lifelong skepticism challenged and destroyed. The book speaks to both the spiritually minded and the skeptical. This book gives an inspiring look into one of the greatest mystical secrets of India - the hidden oracle.
