The paranormal derives from us on a daily basis. Shakespeare,
Tolstoy, Joyce, E.M. Forster, Ingmar Bergman, and Chesterton
understood this and made the paranormal essential to their
depiction of humanity. However mainstream studies of western
literature, culture and psychology deny the importance of psychic
phenomena in our lives. Freud himself recognized telepathy as a
daily occurrence to be explored in clinical work and established
principles for doing so but most of his followers have failed to
walk in his footsteps. Nor do psychoanalysts acknowledge the
parapsychological history of psychoanalysis including the findings
of the Mesmerists, Jung and Ferenczi or more contemporary
psychoanalysts such as Eisenbud . Anthropologists are unaware that
shamans developed sleight-of-hand techniques to facilitate psi
(that is psychic) phenomena nor do they appreciate the manner in
which tribal cultures integrated psychics into their societies. And
Western legal theory avoids psi as a causal agent, never addressing
its artificial construction of reality. Literary academicians
attribute the psychic discoveries of great masters to "poetic
license" rather than to accurate, understanding of our
parapsychological capacities. The author-a practicing senior
training psychoanalyst, a parapsychologist, and a lawyer familiar
with Navajo culture-enjoins us to recognize psi phenomena such as
telepathy, precognition and apparitions in our lives and to
integrate our understanding of them into psychoanalytic theory and
clinical work, literary studies, and anthropology. He investigates
psi as it expresses itself in dreams, unconscious dynamics, psychic
photography, and precognition and provides instances from his
clinical practice.

The culture of two continents blends together in this
one-of-a-kind tarot deck-creating a fresh perspective on what it
means to be African-American.
Publisher Review:
I have to begin by saying that this may be the most
inappropriately named Tarot deck ever. It might be better named the
African Tribal Tarot or African Wisdom Tarot or African Culture
Tarot. The only cards that have anything to do with the powerful
influence African Americans have had on U.S. culture are on some of
the pip cards, and this appears in monotone in the background as if
the images were plugged in as an afterthought. I get the impression
that someone submitted the deck to a publisher and it was refused
with the advice that an African Myth and lore Tarot was not wanted,
but an African American deck would sell. The artist appears to have
plugged in some images in the already existent art. But I'd rather
focus on what this deck is rather than the questionable naming, and
it's terrific. As with most people in the U.S. educated in the
public education system [read more]

how even a minor a relocation can activate unconscious or sleeping
characteristics within the self.

The Celtic Book of the Dead is a 42-card oracle based on the
ancient Irish story of the Voyage of Maelduin, given here in a new
translation by Caitlin Matthews. The locations of Maelduin's voyage
form the route toward the Blessed Isles that lie west of Ireland;
for him, and for the reader, each island reveals the wonders and
challenges as he sails nearer to the heart of the Celtic
Otherworld. As with the Egyptian Book of the Dead, this oracle
gives the soul opportunities to purify, clarify, and refocus.
Filled with wonders, terrors, and transformational experiences,
each island represents a staging post on the reader's own voyage to
self-discovery. As the islands reveal gifts that can be resources
for the human condition, so too, solutions and strategies for
unknotting life's tangles may be found. The cards have three uses:
to divine the path ahead as a guide to the soul's direction, as a
way of meditation for personal and environmental healing, and as a
Book of the Dead for the dying. This oracle offers a grown-up
method of divination and meditation, based on an ancient
northwestern European tradition.
RADICAL SIMPLICITY FOR INTUITIVE CONNECTION This gorgeous Tarot
deck is designed for the truly modern reader. Clarity reveals the
heart of the traditional imagery, stripped of monarchical
hierarchy, binarism and ageism, to allow any reader, beginner or
expert, to access new visions, reflections and power. The
borderless design allows you to create visual landscapes and to
deeply understand the elements of Tarot, and the correspondences
within them. The guidebook includes an introduction to the system
of the Tarot, focusing on the rules of visual language such as
symmetry, direction, repetition and connections. Learn how to read
the cards for yourself and others, including four suggested
spreads, as well as how to activate the deck and open space.
A unique oracle card deck combining the divine wisdom of the
Archangels with the natural beauty of the animal kingdom. Each of
the 44 cards in this deck represents an animal, bird or insect, and
shows symbols associated with each creature to help you interpret
its spiritual messages. For example, when picking the Elephant
card, the guidance is 'Open yourself to true abundance'. Every
animal also works with a specific Archangel, who is indicated on
that card. The accompanying guidebook offers the reader unique
information about each animal as well as its soul purpose and
service mission, and the direct guidance the Archangels want to
give you through these beautiful creatures. The messages in these
cards will show you that there is beauty and wisdom all around us -
both here on Earth, and from Heaven!
There is a universe inside you waiting to be illuminated and
explored. The Wandering Star Tarot is a compass for seekers and
dreamers who search for the treasures that lie within the heart,
mind and spirit. The unique, hand-drawn artwork of this deck - with
keywords curling in and out of the background of each image -
invites readers of all levels to work with the cards intuitively,
no memorization required. The Hay House edition will include some
new artwork and a new 79th "Wandering Star" card. Filled with
hopeful messages, spreads and positive quotes, the accompanying
guidebook offers readers a deeper dive into The Wandering Star
Tarot's whimsical world of archetypes and self-discovery into a
place where all beings share space with peace, respect and
equality.

IT IS CLAIMED BY THE ALMIGHTY. . . Whoever carries this book with
him, is safe from all his enemies, visible or invisible; and
whoever has this book with him cannot die without the holy corpse
of Jesus Christ, nor drowned in any water, nor burn up in any fire,
nor can any unjust sentence be passed upon him. So help me.
THOUSANDS CLAIM MIRACULOUS CURES THROUGH USE OF OLD PENNSYLVANIA
DUTCH MAGICAL POW-WOWS. PRACTICED FOR CENTURIES BY DEVOTED
CHRISTIANS, POW WOWS HAS BECOME A HIDDEN RELIGION WITHIN A RELIGION
DRIVEN UNDERGROUND BY NEEDLESS PERSECUTION. Over 200 Remedies
Handed Down From Generation To Generation. For centuries, people
have been using the Holy Scripture to induce magical principles.
Some of this has come down to us in the magical practices called
Pow-Wows. The majority of these ancient techniques have been handed
down from generation to generation mostly by word of mouth. Many
have no idea that other practitioners of the ancient art even
exist. The rise of evangelical Christianity has forced many Pow-Wow
adepts to go underground, or even give up practicing altogether.
For a long time churches have taught that all magic is inherently
evil and that anyone who practices it is to be condemned and
possibly even put to death. This has little actually to do with a
few verses in the Bible that speak against witches and diviners,
and more to do with the churches power base that has held control
over the people for centuries. Many so-called "good Christians"
would be horrified to know that many common Christian rituals would
be considered magic by their overly broad definitions. In fact, the
Bible has been used for magical purposes for centuries by people
who would never consider themselves as practitioners of magic.
Others, however, have fully realized that Pow-Wow fits within the
constraints of "sorcery" and have kept the truth to themselves,
only allowing immediate family to learn the age-old practice.
Pow-Wow first came to the United States when German settlers began
arriving in the late 17th century, settling in Pennsylvania. Two
distinct groups of German immigrants came to Pennsylvania. The
Fancy Germans, or Lutherans, and the Plain or Pietist Germans. The
Pietist Germans included members of the Mennonite, Amish, Dunker,
and Brethren denominations. Native Americans were present, at least
initially, when the Germans arrived and the term Pow-Wow was
possibly derived from the early settlers' observations of Indian
Pow-Wows. The word may also be a derivative of the word "power" or
may come from the Native American Pow-Wow definition meaning "he
who dreams." Pow-Wowing includes some charms and incantations
dating from the Middle Ages plus elements borrowed from the Jewish
Qabala and Christian Bible. Pow-wowing generally focuses on healing
minor health problems, the protection of livestock, success in
love, and the casting or removing of hexes. For over 200 years,
Pow-Wowers have considered themselves to be staunch Christians
endowed with supernatural powers to both heal and harm. Using
Pow-Wow can be simple or highly complicated and involves the
recital of benedictions, Psalms and selected Biblical verses for
magical purposes according to Jewish and Christian magical
traditions. PUT THE POW WOWS INTO USE FOR YOURSELF, FAMILY AND
FRIENDS. Here are over 200 remedies. Some very practical to this
day. Others a bit fanciful for the era we live in, but certainly of
importance as an historical reference as is this entire work.
Partial Pow-Wow Index: A certain remedy to stop bleeding; A remedy
against slander; A very good remedy for palpitation of the heart; A
precaution against injuries; To make a wand for searching for iron
or water; A way to obtain things desired; To destroy warts; To gain
God's Favor; and many, many more
