This is the classic novel brought to life in full colour! Bram
Stoker's gothic masterpiece was first published in 1897, and has
spawned so many classic films, all based on the character he
invented when Queen Victoria was on the throne. Like
"Frankenstein", the films have pushed the characters into the very
fabric of our society, so it is with great pride that we bring you
a visual treatment that is true to the original - made even more
exciting by the wonderous talent that is Staz Johnson!

"I had just gotten away from it all, by which I mean all those
ordinary, boring things like skyscrapers, cigar-smoking
industrialists, linoleum, plastics, television, westerns and
marihuana. I had either seen or heard about them. Whether they are
good or bad is beside the point..." A nameless graphic designer is
haunted by the concentration camp in which he was once interned.
Obsessed with his past, as well as Italy's present 'economic
miracle' he retreats to a rural villa where he decorates the rooms
with "arrows, signs, advertisements"; invents a new, purposefully
incomprehensible typeface; and attempts to devise a marketing
campaign for stones. Upon finally returning to Milan life becomes
even more unbalanced. He loses his job and acquires a mistress whom
he soon confuses both with his wife and the memory of the young,
Czech woman he abandoned at the end of the war... Known primarily
as a screenwriter for Michelangelo Antonioni, Federico Fellini and
Andrei Tarkovsky among many others, Tonino Guerra also wrote poetry
and fiction. Reissued to mark the centenary of Guerra's birth, and
with a new introduction by acclaimed cultural critic Michael
Bracewell, Equilibrium remains a relevant, powerful, and intensely
visual account of a truly (post-)modern man.
HarperCollins is proud to present its incredible range of
best-loved, essential classics. THE PILGRIM'S PROGRESS, John
Bunyan's masterful religious allegory, narrates the journey of an
everyman hero, Christian, as he attempts to navigate the trials and
tribulations of this world, the City of Destruction, on the path
towards paradise, the Celestial City. Though weighed down by the
burden of original sin, Christian overcomes the distractions of the
world, moving past the Slough of Despond, the Hill of Difficulty
and the Valley of the Shadow of Death, while simultaneously
resisting the temptations of the Worldy Wise, the Vain and the
Ignorant. The product of a lifetime of religious work and thought,
Bunyan's virtuosic narrative fundamentally altered Protestant
belief, and remains one of the most important and influential works
in the English language.
This translation of Lancelot del Lac was published in 1929 to
present easily the essential parts of the history of Sir Lancelot
from three thirteenth century romances - Le livre de Lancelot del
Lac, Le queste del saint graal, and La mort le roi Artus. The
translator summarises the sections not fully translated to link the
sections together. This was the first serious attempt to produce a
modern English rendering of the French material, as Malory used a
relatively small portion of the French trilogy in writing Morte
Darthur.

They have a plot to raid the treasure hoard of Smaug the

HarperCollins is proud to present its incredible range of
best-loved, essential classics. Jane Austen is remembered for her
six masterpieces of the Regency era: from the heroines of Elizabeth
Bennett and Emma Woodhouse, to the villains of Mrs. Norris and John
Willoughby. But these characters were not born overnight. They
sprung from Austen's experiences as a young girl, and many early
iterations can be found in the earliest of her writing: her
Juvenilia. Austen was only a teenager when she wrote her Juvenilia.
In the 'History of England', Austen champions (and laments) the
great kings of England as 'a partial, prejudiced, and ignorant
Historian'; in 'Lady Susan', she writes a titular anti-heroine that
schemes and cheats her way through high society; and in 'Love and
Freindship', Austen paints a picture of a woman looking back on her
extremely unfortunate life. Writing on the cusp of literary
greatness, Love and Freindship offers a fascinating - and often
surprising - insight into a young Jane Austen.

then a third, and a fourth, it's a game of cat and mouse to stop
the killer before he can make good on all of his promises.

the ones whose lives are now in the balance . . .

Little Clothbound Classics: irresistible, mini editions of short
stories, novellas and essays from the world's greatest writers,
designed by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith. Dorothy
Parker was the most talked-about woman of the decadent 1920s,
notorious as a hard-drinking bad girl with a talent for endlessly
quotable one-liners. In the stories collected here, she brilliantly
captures the spirit of the decadent Jazz Age in New York, exposing
both the dazzle and the darkness. This selection includes among
others 'The Standard of Living', 'Mr Durant' and her masterpiece,
'Big Blonde'. 'She has fascinated generations with her wit, flair
and talent' The New York Review of Books
The Penguin English Library Edition of Great Expectations by
Charles Dickens "What do you think that is?' she asked me, again
pointing with her stick; 'that, where those cobwebs are?" "I can't
guess what it is, ma'am." "It's a great cake. A bride-cake. Mine!"
Great Expectations, Dickens's funny, frightening and tender
portrayal of the orphan Pip's journey of self-discovery, is one of
his best-loved works. Showing how a young man's life is transformed
by a mysterious series of events - an encounter with an escaped
prisoner; a visit to a black-hearted old woman and a beautiful
girl; a fortune from a secret donor - Dickens's late novel is a
masterpiece of psychological and moral truth, and Pip among his
greatest creations. The Penguin English Library - 100 editions of
the best fiction in English, from the eighteenth century and the
very first novels to the beginning of the First World War.

Louisa May Alcott's Little Women was a critically acclaimed
bestseller upon its publication in 1868. It tells the story of
sisters Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March - each a young woman with a
distinctive and relatable personality, a rare feature for a
children's novel at the time. The novel continues to resonate with
readers as a timeless tale of growing up. This is the first modern
edition of Little Women to feature the complete illustrations of
Clara Miller Burd, originally executed in 1926. Burd's brilliant
colour plates and detailed drawings bring the world of the March
family to life. An introduction by Alice A. Carter, an expert on
Golden Age illustration, explores Burd's life and the work of early
20th-century women illustrators. This new edition, handsomely bound
in cloth, will be the perfect gift for all devotees of Little
Women.
Generally considered to be F. Scott Fitzgerald's finest novel, The
Great Gatsby is a consummate summary of the "roaring twenties", and
a devastating expose of the 'Jazz Age'. Through the narration of
Nick Carraway, the reader is taken into the superficially
glittering world of the mansions which lined the Long Island shore
in the 1920s, to encounter Nick's cousin Daisy, her brash but
wealthy husband Tom Buchanan, Jay Gatsby and the mystery that
surrounds him. The Great Gatsby is an undisputed classic of
American literature from the period following the First World War
and is one of the great novels of the twentieth century.

Mel Ellis knows that her eating disorder is ruining her life.
Everyone tells her rehab is her best option, but she can't bring
herself to go. Broken and empty in more ways than one, Mel makes
one last-ditch effort to make hers a story worth telling. She will
walk her own road to recovery along the lesser-known trails of the
North American wilderness. Though she is physically and mentally
unprepared to face the difficulties that lay ahead, she sets off on
foot from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and heads toward Mount Rainier
National Park in Washington State. During the long journey, she
meets strangers with their own stories, as well as ghosts from her
past who can no longer be ignored. But though the land she travels
threatens her success at every turn, it's her own dark thoughts
she'll have to overcome in order to find peace in the life and the
body she has been given. With pitch-perfect timing and delightfully
witty self-awareness, debut author Autumn Lytle masterfully leads
readers on a journey down the hard path toward healing. *** "All
That Fills Us is a compelling drama of the complex battle with the
debilitating longing for perfection as enacted through a severe
eating disorder. Told in an equally raw and wry first-person
narration, this tale bears powerful witness to how the individual's
quest for wellness is necessary groundwork for collective
healing."--Booklist "Lytle draws on her own experience with eating
disorders to take readers inside Mel's mind and misguided thinking
about her own worth and health."--Library Journal
Faced with the prospect of marriage to an elderly, red-haired,
squinting Duke, the passionate Lady Juliana elopes with her
penniless Scottish beau. But what happens when this high-born,
high-bred society beauty's romantic notions of the Highlands of
Scotland meet cold, damp reality? Susan Ferrier's 1818 novel
Marriage is a witty and satirical examination of female lives in
the Regency era. This edition takes the 1819 second edition of
Marriage as its base text, incorporating those changes which
Ferrier made when the work was fresh and sharp, but refusing the
bowdlerisation and sentimental sugar of the 1841 edition, suited
for Victorian tastes and moralities. Edited and introduced by
Dorothy McMillan, and supported by extensive historical notes, this
new edition captures the humour, sensitivity and elegance of the
original bestselling novel, and gives Ferrier her proper place
among Scotland's notable writers.
THE JURA EDITION with new introduction by Alex Massie 'For him Jura
was home' - Richard Blair on his father George Orwell 'The book of
the twentieth century . . . haunts us with an ever-darker
relevance' - Ben Pimlott, Independent 'The greatest British novel
to have been written since the war' - Time Out 'His final
masterpiece . . . enthralling and indispensable for understanding
modern history' - New York Review of Books The year is 1984 and war
and revolution have left the world unrecognisable. Great Britain,
now known as Airstrip One, is ruled by the Party, led by Big
Brother. Mass surveillance is everything and The Thought Police are
employed to ensure that no individual thinking is allowed. Winston
Smith works at The Ministry of Truth, carefully rewriting history,
but he dreams of freedom and of rebellion. It is here that he meets
and falls in love with Julia. They start a secret, forbidden affair
- but nothing can be kept secret, and they are forced to face
consequences more terrifying than either of them could have ever
imagined. In this new edition of a modern classic, Alex Massie's
introduction highlights the importance that Jura had on the writing
of one of the twentieth century's most important works of fiction.
HarperCollins is proud to present its new range of best-loved,
essential classics. 'I do not cling to life sufficiently to fear
death.' Adventurous and spirited in tone, The Three Musketeers is
considered one of the greatest historical French novels. When
Athos, Porthos and Aramis befriend a young and determined country
boy d'Artagnan, together they confront the scheming King's
Minister, Cardinal Richelieu and the female spy Milady who threaten
to undermine the King. Swashbuckling, romantic and often humourous,
Dumas' novel is a timeless tale of friendship and intrigue.

writers, designed by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith.

the ocean to a love story on the moon. Beautifully designed and
printed, these collectible editions are bound in colourful, tactile

Metamorphosis, Kafka's masterpiece of unease and black humour, is
one of the twentieth century's most influential works of fiction,

novelists as Thomas Mann are dwarfs or plaster saints in comparison
to him' - Vladimir Nabokov
But the longer they work together, the more difficult their task becomes as they face threats and opposition. And when Matthew works to save his people, he realizes that the job he hesitantly accepted may be his God-given destiny.
Disciple Matthew, a former tax collector, is invited to work with Peter, James, and John in Jerusalem. He dreams of preaching and performing miracles like his fellow apostles, but he finds his dreams postponed because of a request from Yeshua's mother. Well aware of the passing years, Mary asks Matthew to help her record the stories of Yeshua while the eyewitnesses are still alive. Reluctantly, he agrees, though the longer he and Mary work together, the more difficult their task becomes. Not only are they pressured by opposition from friends and foes alike, but Gaius Caesar, better known as Caligula, is determined to raise a statue of himself in the Holy Temple, even if it means killing every man in Israel. As Matthew works to save his people, Mary encourages him to come to terms with issues from his past. When they finally near the completion of their project, Matthew realizes that the job he reluctantly accepted might be his God-given destiny.
