Over 90 hands-on recipes that will employ Nagios Core as the anchor
of monitoring on your network About This Book * Master the advanced
configuration techniques of Nagios Core to model your network
better by improving hosts, services, and contacts * Filter and
improve the notifications that Nagios Core sends in response to
failed checks, which can greatly assist you when diagnosing
problems * Pull Nagios Core's data into a database to write clever
custom reports of your own devise Who This Book Is For If you are a
network or system administrator and are looking for instructions
and examples on working with Nagios Core, then this book is for
you. Some basic shell command-line experience is required, and some
knowledge of scripting would be helpful when we discuss how plugins
work. What You Will Learn * Manage the configuration of Nagios Core
with advanced techniques to achieve fine detail in your checks *
Find, install, and even write your own check plugins * Filter
notifications to send them to the right people or programs at the
right time * Work around difficult network accessibility issues and
delegate checks to other machines * Tweak a Nagios Core server to
achieve both high performance and redundancy in case of disaster *
Process the results of checks performed by other machines to
monitor backups and similar processes * Extend Nagios Core to allow
advanced scripting, reporting, and network visualization behavior
In Detail Nagios Core is an open source monitoring framework
suitable for any network that ensures both internal and
customer-facing services are running correctly and manages
notification and reporting behavior to diagnose and fix outages
promptly. It allows very fine configuration of exactly when, where,
what, and how to check network services to meet both the uptime
goals of your network and systems team and the needs of your users.
This book shows system and network administrators how to use Nagios
Core to its fullest as a monitoring framework for checks on any
kind of network services, from the smallest home network to much
larger production multi-site services. You will discover that
Nagios Core is capable of doing much more than pinging a host or to
see whether websites respond. The recipes in this book will
demonstrate how to leverage Nagios Core's advanced configuration,
scripting hooks, reports, data retrieval, and extensibility to
integrate it with your existing systems, and to make it the
rock-solid center of your network monitoring world. Style and
approach Each chapter contains a set of step-by-step recipes to
perform an example of a commonly performed task related to network
administration. The book begins by focusing closely on the
properties and configuration of Nagios Core itself, and gradually
moves on to other pieces of software that can support, manage, and
extend the system.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 16th International
Conference on Engineering Psychology and Cognitive Ergonomics, EPCE
2019, held as part of the 21st International Conference, HCI
International 2019, which took place in Orlando, FL, USA, in July
2019. The total of 1274 papers and 209 posters included in the 35
HCII 2019 proceedings volumes was carefully reviewed and selected
from 5029 submissions. EPCE 2019 includes a total of 34 regular
papers; they were organized in topical sections named: mental
workload and performance; visual cognition; cognitive psychology in
aviation and space; and group collaboration and decision making.
High-performance computing refers to the use of advanced computing
technologies, especially supercomputers, to solve highly complex,
numerically intensive problems in the shortest possible time. Field
programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are emerging in many areas of high
performance computing. FPGAs are so flexible and reconfigurable
that they are capable of massively parallel operations, explicitly
tailored to the problem at hand. There are many of paradigms to put
FPGAs at work in a high performance computing environment. There
are also many of limitations which restrict FPGAs to reach the
performance of application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) but
they provide the possibility of changing the hardware design easily
while outpacing software implementations on general purpose
processors. Since FPGAs offer an inherently parallel computing
paradigm The problem of achieving significant speedups on a new
architecture without expending exorbitant development effort, while
retaining flexibility, portability, and maintainability, is a
classic one.
This is the era of automation. It is possible to alter the physical
environment automatically through the use of computerized chips and
protocols. The most basic use of this technology can be seen in the
form of automated lights - the luminosity automatically turns on
when a specific measurable level of darkness is crossed. At any
level of luminosity above this, the lamps remain off. With Arduino,
this has been made infinitely easier. Arduino produces single board
microcontrollers which serve the purpose of a moderator/controller.
Contained in the following pages is a detailed guide pertaining to
the wonders of a microcontroller. It also covers the ways in which
you can personalize it according to your specific needs. Keep
reading to find out everything about Arduino

Use the Raspberry Pi and modern computing techniques to build
industrial Internet of Things systems. Principles and theoretical
aspects of IoT technologies combine with hands-on projects leading
to detailed descriptions of several industrial IoT applications.
This book presents real-life IoT applications based on the
Raspberry Pi, beyond the relatively simplistic demos built for
educational purposes or hobbyists. You'll make the transition from
tinkering with a couple of sensors and simple devices to building
fully developed products for commercial use and industrial systems.
You'll also work with sensors and actuators, web technologies used
for communications in IoT networks, and the large-scale deployment
of IoT software solutions. And see how to design these systems as
well as maintain them long term. See the Raspberry Pi in a new
light that highlights the true industrial potential of the device.
Move beyond connecting an LED to the Raspberry Pi and making it
blink to actually managing a network of IoT devices. What You'll
Learn Design industrial and large scale professional Internet of
Things systems Extend your basic IoT knowledge by building advanced
products Learn how large scale IoT systems are deployed and
maintained Who This Book Is For Advanced hobbyists who want to
stretch their abilities into the professional sector. Also
professional industrial engineers looking for low-cost solutions to
basic IoT needs.
Neural networks have a proven ability to learn complex data sets,
but suffer from the amount of processing time required for large
based networks. FPGAs, which have become commonplace since their
inception, offer the academic community a way of achieving
real-time computation due to their parallel nature. Unfortunately,
floating-point neural networks require large amounts of gate space,
which in turn results in having to utilise an expensive FPGA.
Fractional FPGA Neural Networks explores an alternative numeric
system, where integer based fractions are used in the computations,
rather than floating point. The book focuses on a number of issues
and solutions with such a method, including modified training
mechanisms. Finally, a case study of emotion recognition is
explored. This book should be especially useful to academics
seeking real-time computation networks, or even looking at
alternative ideas for neural network design. Professionals in
industry, exploring a practical solution to their data learning
issues may also find the subject appealing, along with a wider
community interested in researching into neural networks.
How can we build bridges from the digital world of the Internet to
the analog world that surrounds us? By bringing accessibility to
embedded components such as sensors and microcontrollers,
JavaScript and Node.js might shape the world of physical computing
as they did for web browsers. This practical guide shows hardware
and software engineers, makers, and web developers how to talk in
JavaScript with a variety of hardware platforms. Authors Patrick
Mulder and Kelsey Breseman also delve into the basics of
microcontrollers, single-board computers, and other hardware
components. Use JavaScript to program microcontrollers with Arduino
and Espruino Prototype IoT devices with the Tessel 2 development
platform Learn about electronic input and output components,
including sensors Connect microcontrollers to the Internet with the
Particle Photon toolchain Run Node.js on single-board computers
such as Raspberry Pi and Intel Edison Talk to embedded devices with
Node.js libraries such as Johnny-Five, and remotely control the
devices with Bluetooth Use MQTT as a message broker to connect
devices across networks Explore ways to use robots as building
blocks for shared experiences
The book hereby is intended to be a step by step guide that
addresses to users familiar with Red Hat(r)Enterprise Linux(r)
based distributions and want to expand their knowledge for personal
purposes or, why not, later for preparation if interested to obtain
one of the basic certifications offered by Red Hat,
