Der erste Ansatz zielt auf eine veranderte Architektur des Memorys mit dem Ziel einer uberlappenden, nicht-interferierenden (virtuellen) Adressierung mit der Moeglichkeit, Teile des Adressraumes zu swappen. Da sie einen offenen Quellcode besitzt, kann jeder Nutzer OSS unter gegebenen Lizenzbedingungen auf seine eigenen Bedurfnisse zuschneiden bzw. anpassen. Eine Anpassung von OSS erfolgt jedoch nur selten. Steffen Kessler zeigt verschiedene Ursachen dafur auf und entwickelt ein Prozessmodell fur die Anpassung von OSS in Anwenderunternehmen.
