This comprehensive and detailed reference guide to Rolex sports
model watches is an indispensable asset to watch collectors and
dealers. The only work of its kind, it covers the history of the
Submariner, Sea-Dweller, Explorer, GMT-Master, Turn-O-Graph,
Milgauss, and Cosmograph watches, from 1952 to 1990. The history of
more than 140 vintage models is described in detail, with the
watches shown in chronological order. Color photographs illustrate
every watch model, with hundreds of diagrams providing clear and
useful information about the development of each model. Twenty-two
rare Rolex brochures are shown along with numerous catalog
photographs and the associated sale prices of sports models sold at
Christie(1)s and Sotheby's worldwide from 1997 to 2017. Also
included is a current price guide for every model shown in the
book. Rolex watches continue to dominate the collecting market, and
this authoritative volume, now in its revised and expanded 4th
edition, continues to be the essential resource for the Rolex
collector, dealer, and auctioneer.
The repair of clocks calls for a variety of skills and crafts, few
of which can be 'picked up' by bench work alone. In the horological
trade, it is technical practice that the 'prentice hand' is first
tried out on clocks, before attempting repair work on watches.
Clocks have the advantage of possessing sizeable and robust parts
and of being easier to handle. But there the advantage for the
repairer ends. The sizes, shapes, complications and even the
nationalities of clocks appear to be without end. Every movement
has detail difference and, naturally, the defects when due for
repair, are as varied. In this book, the author has dealt with the
usual faults likely to develop in each type of movement in general
use; from the lordly grandfather to the humble alarm. All the tools
and equipment are described and illustrated, together with the ways
of using them. The craftsman's most important and valuable tools of
all - his skilful fingers - are shown in use in the clearest
manner. As is usual in N.A.G. Press textbooks, the drawings have
been specially made from parts under working conditions. A glance
through the book will show their usefulness and clarity. Over 400
line drawings are used throughout and the reader is left in no
doubt of what he is asked to do in following the author's clearly
written technical and practical instructions.
Welcome to a celebration of alternatively designed wrist- and
pocket watches, which honors innovative craftsmanship within the
world of modern horology. The 150 different brands featured in this
unique book each have a double-page spread dedicated to rare,
specially selected timepieces. Featured manufacturers include Patek
Philippe, Jaeger LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin, Chopard, Tag
Heuer, and Hublot. There is also a broad selection of avant-garde
watchmakers like MB & F, Urwerk, and DeBethune. The design and
technical information of each watch, ranging from simple to
elaborate, is described in this lavish showcase of mostly high-end
watch brands. A wristwatch made entirely of wooden parts, a
timepiece designed after a Ferrari engine, and other one-of-a-kind
movements, are just a few examples of the stunning variety of
alternatively conceived men's and unisex watches. Many have not
appeared in print before. This collection should appeal to both
watch lovers and aficionados of good design.
For more than a century, Rolex has stood apart as the most
legendary brand of watch in the world. A Rolex conveys many things:
a luxury timepiece, a tool of power for movers and shakers and the
symbol of passage into adulthood. New labels pop up, styles come
and go, but the brand at the top never changes. Ever the record
setter-the Daytona that had belonged to Paul Newman was auctioned
by Phillips in New York in October 2017 for $17.8 million- it comes
as no surprise that Rolex is the most collected watch brand in the
world. The Vintage Watch Company is the only store of its kind in
the world, with a devoted client base of devoted Rolex aficionados,
from royalty to sporting legends to stars of the silver screen.
Throughout, father and son, John and David Silver have been
carefully cataloguing and amassing one of the largest pictorial
records of vintage Rolex watches in the world. Published to
celebrate the company's 25th anniversary in late 2020, the book
contains a unique pictorial collection of vintage Rolex watches
that have passed through the shop during the past 25 years. More
than 1800 watches have been photographed and are described in
detail in the book. From early Rolex pocket watches to the world's
first wristwatches, elegant in their simplicity yet revolutionary
in their impact, to the very first Submariners, iconic Daytonas and
jewel-encrusted Crown Collections, the mesmerizing archive of
vintage timepieces charts the extraordinary rise of an
extraordinary brand. Choose from the First Rolex Submariner, later
coined the James Bond, or the Early GMT-Master made for Pan Am
transatlantic pilots. Read about the First Explorers made famous by
the 1953 Everest Expedition or the later Explorer II worn by Steve
McQueen. Marvel at Early Vintage collections, from the Officer's
Pocket Watch to the Ladies' Diamond; from the Oyster and the Stella
& Stone collections, to the Sport Collection. This book is a
perfect gift for all lovers of luxury retail as well as passionate
collectors of Rolex watches who will want to read about the models
they own.
In this virtual catalog of Rolex wristwatches, collectors and
buyers will find 3,621 wristwatches in over 14 different model
lines: Oyster, Bubbleback, including Chronograph, Submariner,
Explorer, and more. Each watch is shown in full color, with the
most important technical details as well as reference numbers, and
year of manufacture provided. This variety of information is of
inestimable worth for the wristwatch collector and buyer. In one
place, for example, they can see the typical Oyster from the 1940s
and nearly all the case and dial variations that were available.
The same applies to all the lines made by Rolex. In short, for
everyone who collects Rolex or only wants to acquire a beautiful
vintage wristwatch with the "crown," this book an absolute must. An
illustrated history of the Rolex waterproof wristwatch is included.

the author wished he had on hand at the start of his 20 years
cleaning and repairing pocket watches Using as examples six of the
most typical types of watch from a period spanning the late 18th
century to the early 20th century, the author takes the intelligent
enthusiast through the cleaning and repair process, step by careful
step, using photographs of excellent clarity, and in lucid

pictured watch are fully described. This year's edition, like its

This range of clocks used to be considered the common, household
clock which many people recognized but for which little
documentation was available. Rick Ortenburger now presents the book
that will fill this void. Vienna regulator clocks were first
produced in Vienna, Austria about 1780 and then became a familiar
style made also elsewhere in the German-speaking world. Included
are early, transitional, serpentine, altdeutsch, Baroque, and
factory-made types from 1780 until about 1930, of one, two, and
three-weight movements. The author has done his own research in
Europe and America in both German and English so he is able to
present much original information in a pleasing format for the
average reader. His brief, factual text, supported by good
photographs, useful in identifying the period of manufacture, may
be the book's most useful feature to the serious collector. Her
fully explains the production of Gustav Becker, Junghaus, HAC,
Lenzkirch and competitive factories whose products are still on the
market and well within the financial means of the vast majority of
clock enthusiasts. He also covers many rare and exotic regulators
such as long-duration clocks and variations from the norm.
Breitling. One watch has made this name famous worldwide, the
Navitimer. In 1952 this watch was a real sensation, the chronograph

spectrum of the firm's products since its founding in 1884, and
gives the reader an informed insight into more than 100 years of
the firm's history. Many photos, old catalogs, and advertising
material support the informative text. With the help of reference
numbers, the collector can also locate individual watches
chronologically. This fascinating portrait of the Breitling firm
will enthrall all who appreciate fine mechanical precision.

The watch has a long and fascinating history, from a
fifteenth-century status symbol of the rich and powerful to the
mass-produced everyday timepiece of modern times. This book

timespan, from the beginnings in Germany and France, through the
golden age of English horology in the 18th century, to the
development of modern factory production in America and
Switzerland. It also sets out to give the general reader and
collector a grasp of the key technological developments in watch
and sets the lives of the inventors and artisans in the context of
the social and economic history of their times. With over 290
photographs and 3D diagrams, this book includes an extensive
listing and history of watch brands and manufacturers to assist in
identification along with a useful glossary of terms.
First compiled in 1929 as a pioneer work by the late G.H. Baillie,

dealers, museums, historians, and libraries the world over. The
list of makers has more than doubled, having been thoroughly
updated and revised by Brian Loomes in this twenty-first century
edition, and now contains information on about 90,000 makers
working between the late 16th and early 20th centuries. As well as
the makers and retailers of clocks and watches, the list includes

dates include dates and places of birth, apprenticeship, freedom,
marriage and death, as well as movement between different
locations, and monograms. It is a unique and essential work of
