Reading and Speaking about Russian Newspapers is a textbook for advanced-level Russian language students. Newspaper articles of general interest serve as the basis for numerous exercises intended to help the student gain an active knowledge of the vocabulary and phraseology characteristic of written and spoken Russian and essential for reading and communicating in Russian at an advanced level. Special attention is devoted to word formation and the use of new vocabulary and phraseologies in their typical contexts. A review vocabulary list at the end of each lesson indicates words the student is expected to master in each lesson, and a cumulative vocabulary list at the end of the text shows where each item occurs. The grammatical supplements to the text (the basic meanings of verbal prefixes, the basic types of Russian verbs, and a thorough review of the formation and use of verbal adverbs and adjectives) provide the necessary reference material for this text. The accompanying workbook contains written homework exercises for the reinforcement of new material in each lesson. Previous editions of this text have been received favorably by Russian language instructors both in the USA and in Russia.

Learning to write fluidly in Arabic takes practice. This short workbook helps beginning learners practice each letter in all of its forms by tracing real Arabic words. Learners trace different words across each line to practice letter formation on tracing paper that is bound into the book. The words, handwritten by a native Arabic speaker, show a natural flow and present a model of clean handwriting. Write Arabic Now! can be used independently or alongside a textbook giving beginning learners a proven, effective means of improving their Arabic handwriting. Along with the workbook, audio of the practice words is also provided. Listening to the words as learners trace the handwriting facilitates acquisition of the Arabic writing and phonetic system, which strengthens reading comprehension skills. Audio of the words will be freely available on the Georgetown University Press website (press.georgetown.edu) as downloadable MP3s.

This book is a synthesis of important topics in studying multilingualism: dynamic multilingualism, translanguaging, language policy, bilingual education, and bilingualism and cognition. The author as an immigrant herself integrated personal and dramatic experiences around most of the topics to show how they influence the lives of immigrants around the globe. The author's aim is to reach the readers in a personal way. The issue of translanguaging and social justice is crucial for the book. The studies on bilingualism and cognition give amazing results on how bilingual children profit from increased metalinguistic awareness, abstract thinking, creativity, working memory, attention control, to name just a few. Bilingualism is shown to be a real gift for human understanding. The original feature of this book is the integration of excerpts of the interviews the author conducted with the experts in the field of bilingualism: Ellen Bialystok, Jim Cummins, Ofelia Garci a, Christine He lot, Nancy Hornberger, and Catherine Snow. For each topic their opinions are combined with future directions in the research on bilingualism that can certainly inspire other researchers in the field. Finally, this book is called Drama of Multilingualism: Literature Review and Liberation, and it is exactly that, informing and affecting those who want to embark on this dramatic journey of exploring multilingualism.
