Told from Mary and Jane's perspectives, Monsters is a novel about radical ideas, rule-breaking love, dangerous Romantics, and the creation of the greatest Gothic novel of them all: Frankenstein

Take to the skies with the beautifully told tale of Sophie Blanchard - a woman meant for the air - as she discovers the incomparable sensation of flight. Behold the story of Sophie Blanchard, an extraordinary woman who is largely forgotten despite her claim to being the very first female pilot in history. In eighteenth-century France, "balloonomania" has fiercely gripped the nation ... but all of the pioneering aeronauts are men. The job of shattering that myth falls to a most unlikely figure: a shy girl from a seaside village, entirely devoted to her dream of flight. Sophie is not the first woman to ascend in a balloon, nor the first woman to accompany an aeronaut on a trip, but she will become the first woman to climb to the clouds and steer her own course. The words of Matthew Clark Smith bring Sophie's story to light after so many years, while Matt Tavares' atmospheric art and unique perspectives take her to new heights.
Mary Slessor grew up in the slums of Dundee in the 1800's. Industry was booming but housing was sub- standard and life expectancy was low. Illness, disease and malnutrition killed many children before they reached the age of five. Mary was lucky - born into a poor family, abused by her father - she was still alive. Dundee was Mary's training ground for a far fiercer battle. Mary left the shores of Scotland while only in her early twenties to immerse herself in reaching the lost tribes of Calibar in West Africa. Her preparation in the slums of Dundee was the key ingredient to her success on the mission field - that and her tireless trust and belief in her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was the reason she was there. Calibar today still remembers Mary Slessor, affectionately known as "Ma," her influence on that area of Africa was astounding. Superstition demanded that families kill twin babies and murder slaves and women at funerals - the Lord Jesus Christ that Mary Slessor brought to these people set them free from all that. They were set free from the law of sin and death.

As a child in South Korea, Ban Ki-moon wrote a letter to the U.N. secretary-general regarding the Hungarian uprising against Russia. A few years later in the United States, he met President John F. Kennedy. From then on, Ban desired to work for peace, an aspiration that led him to become South Korea's foreign minister in 2004, at a time when tensions between North Korea and its neighbors were heated. Two years later, he ascended to the position of U.N. secretary-general. Ban has worked to show the benefits of diplomatic approaches in solving conflict, and has called for the world's citizens to change their habits to curb global warming. To restore people's trust in the battered organization, he has set standards for other U.N. staff. In ""Ban Ki-moon"", read how his further success in these areas will attempt to keep the U.N. relevant in an increasingly complex world.
In Stuff That Scares Your Pants Off! Glenn Murphy shows us that it is OK to be scared and that there are very good reasons why we are able to feel fear. He looks closely at our most common fears, including natural disasters, predators, spiders, disease, needles, dentists, crashes, darkness, speaking in public, heights, ghosts and monsters, to show us how much of that fear is perhaps unnecessary. The result is a fun, carefully pitched, popular-science title that mixes great true-life stories with the psychology of fear, the statistical probabilities of things happening and a lot of reassurance. Monty and Tyler Take the Top Road is a delightful, true story of a horse named Monty and his canine friend, Tyler. Monty, a beautiful Dales Cross Cob, and Tyler, a pedigree black Labrador, achieved 'fame' in the media in the summer of 2005 due to a special and unusual skill they mastered. The story, told through the eyes of the dog, Tyler, demonstrates a tender and trusting bond between the animals, as well as the patience of their fun-loving owner who playfully encourages Monty and Tyler to develop a talent born entirely by chance. Monty and Tyler were the beloved pets of Corporal Sarah Louise Bryant (Ne Feely), a soldier of the Intelligence Corps of the British Army, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on 17th June, 2008. Sarah had often suggested to her father, Des Feely, that the true-life adventures of Monty and Tyler would make a fun and amusing book for children and adults alike. It was this recollection that inspired Mr. Feely to put pen to paper during the months after his daughter's death, which has resulted in a moving and amusing story, lovingly written in memory of Sarah. The book is complemented by more than 40 colour photographs, bringing the true adventures of Monty and Tyler to life, while revealing the joy they brought to Sarah and her family. It is hoped that the book's success will enable Mr. Feely to make donations to various charities that support veterans of war.

Steve Prefontaine was better known to the world as simply "Pre". He was more than an exceptional athlete; he was an exceptional person. Pre once said "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the Gift." This book is not about what Pre gained during his short and brilliant life, but what he refused to give up as celebrity status settled inevitably on his shoulders. This unique story of Pre is specifically written for young people. Rocketman is told through the eyes and voice of Owen Morgan. Owen is a literary conduit through which the entirely factual events and characters are presented. The stories Owen shares with the readers are the stories of the people who knew and loved Steve Prefontaine, and the people Pre loved. *Author royalties will go to a special fund established by Linda Prefontaine for physical education and arts programs at Blossom Gulch School in Coos Bay Oregon. Blossom Gulch was both Steve and Linda's former elementary school. Rocketman CD is now available!!
