Print Index: A Guide to Reproductions is designed to aid the user
in locating illustrations of prints dating from the early
eighteenth century through the mid-1970s. It contains data on and
provides access to many thousands of prints by more than twenty-one
hundred printmakers found in one hundred English-language
monographs and exhibition and collection catalogues. The Print
Index lists works alphabetically by title under the artist or
artists. The entries identify the printmaker, the title of the
work, the date, the print technique used, and the publications
(books or catalogues) in which a reproduction of the print appears.
An index references the prints by subject and title where the title
is distinctive or expressive.

One of the most popular drawing guides ever published, The Art of
Drawing has been an informative and thorough guide to several
generations of aspiring artists. For fifty years, Willy Pogany has
given the main principles of drawing in a simple, constructive way.
By following the sequences laid out in the lessons, students
quickly master the art of drawing. As a further aid, Pogany gives a
complete anatomical description of the body for each section,
including a list of all bones and a description of the muscles and
their uses. The Art of Drawing provides a complete drawing system
and includes hundreds of illustrations.
A good sketch starts with good bones. Often challenging and
overwhelming to sketchers, the fourth book in the Urban Sketching
Handbook series uses drawings and simple steps to explain the
concepts of perspective in practical and useful ways for on-site
sketching. Most books are either too abstract or don't provide
enough information that relates to what you actually do when you're
out in the busy, wide world about to start a drawing. Where do you
start? How do you edit what you see to flatten and shrink it onto
your paper? How does perspective work? The Urban Sketching
Handbook: Understanding Perspective helps you learn to think like
an architect, to draw buildings and spaces by reducing what you see
to simple, basic shapes, then adding layers in simple steps, and
finally finishing your sketch with detail, tone, and color--in
accurate perspective. Full of helpful tips, architect and
illustrator, Stephanie Bower even de-constructs sketches to show
you how to create them! Once you understand perspective, it will
change the way you see the world--you'll see perspective
everywhere. Some of the key concepts explored in this volume are: *
Basic Terms * Basic Spatial Principles * Types of Perspective *
Building a Sketch in Layers * Special Conditions

The collection of papers that makes up this book arises largely
from the joint activities of two specialist groups of the British
Computer Society, namely the Displays Group and the Computer Arts
Society. Both these groups are now more than 20 years old and
during the whole of this time have held regular, separate meetings.
In recent years, however, the two groups have held a joint annual
meeting at which presentations of mutual interest have been given
and it is mainly from the last two of these that the present papers
have been drawn. They fall naturally into four classes:
visualisation, art, design and animation-although, as in all such
cases, the boundaries between the classes are fuzzy and overlap
inevitably occurs. Visualisation The graphic potential of computers
has been recognised almost since computing was first used, but it
is only comparatively recently that their possibilities as devices
for the visualisation of complex. and largely ab stract phenomena
has begun to be more fully appreciated. Some workers stress the
need to be able to model photographic reality in order to assist in
this task. They look to better algorithms and more resolution to
achieve this end. Others-Alan Mackay for instance-suggest that it
is "not just a matter of providing more and more pixels. It is a
matter of providing congenial clues which employ to the greatest
extent what we already know.
