Time Pieces is an exciting new series of repertoire which explores
the wealth of music written from the sixteenth century to the
present day. The pieces are presented chronologically within each
volume and all include the year in which they were written too so
you can map your journey through time. Time Pieces for Cello is a
three-volume anthology providing a graded selection of well-crafted
and idiomatic arrangements, as well as some original pieces, for
cello and piano. All of them have been carefully written to provide
practice of the keys, note ranges and fingering patterns
encountered in the early grades, and there are suggestions for
position work and varied bowing patterns. Each volume balances
well-known pieces with less familiar music, and the emphasis
throughout is on tuneful repertoire perfectly suited to the cello
with a simple supportive piano accompaniment. From Tallis to
Tchaikovsky and from Haydn to Britten, Time Pieces for Cello allows
the pupil to get a real feel for the different styles of music
through tune and will prove an invaluable, varied source of further
study and recital repertoire. Perfect for learners exploring
repertoire for the own-choice piece in ABRSM's Performance Grade
exams

These 18 fun tunes for violin and piano are ideal for every party
time and conjure up a variety of scenes and images to fire the
young player's imagination. They are also skilfully written for
beginners, with the shapes of tunes reinforcing basic fingering
patterns and with simple matters gently presented. All the pieces
are in first position with the fingers in the standard major key
pattern, and the tunes cleverly exploit scale shapes to provide
plenty of practice of this basic but essential finger-work. Some
pieces concentrate on E-string or G-string notes; others include
pizzicatos, simple two-note slurs or basic bow retakes. The easy
piano parts provide a colourful and supportive accompaniment in a
range of styles and moods, and adults and children alike will love
the witty cartoons printed alongside some of the pieces. Many of
the pieces are perfectly suited to ABRSM's Preparatory Test.
Deals with rhythm as it applies to lead guitar playing
concentrating on phrasing and timing & how to get the most out
of the notes you play. Introduces the Blues scale, other important
scales and arpeggios commonly used by Blues players. Lots of great
solos too.
Meticulously collected from recordings, square and contra dances,
fiddle contests, jam sessions and individual fiddlers- this book is
meant to provide a snapshot of what American fiddlers were playing
and listening to in the latter part of the 20th Century. As the
vinyl record format disappears from the marketplace, a great deal
of recorded fiddle music will no longer be available. In this book,
Stacy Phillips shares the fruits of some timely collecting for all
fiddlers to enjoy. Bowings, fingerings, and guitar chords are
provided for each melody line.
String Methods for Beginners is designed for students to receive
the essential playing and teaching skills on all orchestral string
instruments. The goal of this textbook is to be truly methodical in
its approach, and to assist the instructor, completely eliminating
the need to do additional research, or reorganization in
preparation to teach this class. Students will gain the basic
knowledge and experience to teach bowed stringed instruments in
public schools. String Methods for Beginners covers the necessary
topics to learn and teach the violin, viola, cello, and string
bass. It explores the fundamentals of those instruments and
teaching considerations, utilizing a heterogeneous approach. As the
primary resource to any college- and university-level String
Techniques, String Methods, or Instrumental Methods class, this
course book fits into a standard semester, comprised of 25 lessons,
which correspond with two hourly classes per week for the term. It
provides the instructor with the tools to teach a classroom of
non-majors or string education majors, or a mixed classroom of
both. FEATURES Offers a blueprint for a semester long string
methods course. For beginning students, and also comprehensive for
more in-depth study or for reference. Logical, step-by-step
"recipe-like" approach.
