The very first full-text edition of the Revised New Jerusalem Bible (RNJB) - a Bible for study and proclamation. This exciting new text presents anew the scholarship, character and clarity of the 1966 Jerusalem Bible (the first modern English version) and the 1985 New Jerusalem Bible. The RNJB prioritises accuracy of translation and richness of tone, capturing the rigour and poetry of the original JB for new generations. This volume contains the entire biblical text with a comprehensive set of study notes, cross references and book introductions. Other features include - Formal equivalence. Accurate translation of the language, concepts and imagery of the original scriptures. 'Clear read' style. Uses linguistic style and speech patterns best suited for being read out loud. Study notes. Comprehensive new study materials (cross-references and over 130,000 words of footnotes) by Henry Wansbrough, reflecting the most up-to-date and ecumenical scholarship. Gender inclusion. Remains faithful to the meaning of the original scriptures while avoiding traditional male bias of the English language. Revised Grail Psalter. The book of Psalms is based on the 2010 translation of The Revised Grail Psalms. 8pp colour maps. 2 ribbon markers.

'We are despised, yet we grow. We are tortured and crucified and yet we flourish. We are hated and still we multiply. Why is that? You must wonder, how is it we survive?' In a far corner of the Roman Empire, a radical sect is growing. Alone, unloved and battling his sexuality, Saul scrapes together a living exposing these nascent Christians, but on the road to Damascus, everything changes. Saul - now Paul - becomes drawn into this new religion and its mysterious leader, whose crucifixion leaves followers waiting in limbo for his promised return. As factions splinter and competition to create the definitive version of Christ's life grows violent, he begins to question his new faith and the man at its heart. Damascus is an unflinching dissection of doubt, faith, tyranny, revolution, cruelty and sacrifice. A vivid and visceral novel with perennial concerns, it is a masterpiece of imagination and transformation.

Nowhere are the chaotic debates surrounding contemporary aspect theory more heated than in discussions of the theory's application to Hellenistic Greek, and especially its understanding of the semantics of the Greek perfect tense. This book is a distilled academic debate among three of the best-known scholars on the subject, each defending his own unique interpretation while engaging the other two. The Perfect Storm will prove an indispensable resource for any scholar seeking to write convincingly on the Greek perfect in the future.
We know about the Bible. We may know some Bible stories, or maybe we've even read large portions for ourselves. But what it's really all about? How do all the different pieces fit together? Without a sense of the big story the Bible is telling, we'll miss out on the good news God has for us. In The 30-Minute Bible, experienced Bible teachers Craig Bartholomew and Paige Vanosky present the story of Scripture in thirty short readings, each designed to take about half an hour. Each includes a passage from the Bible and a short chapter explaining how the passage fits into the Bible's wider narrative. Written in straightforward and clear language, the readings are accompanied by Brother Martin Erspamer's lovely illustrations. Discover the timeless story of the Bible-in thirty minutes a day for thirty days.
Here is John Wycliffe's greatest accomplishment: the translation of the Holy Scriptures into English. Producing the first complete English bible, Wycliffe was the first to set aside Latin as the language of the Scriptures and to reach the English people in their own tongue. Working from contemporary manuscripts of the Latin Vulgate, he sought "no strange English" but only the easiest, most common-albeit the most Latin-like-language possible. (Latin constructions and word order were preserved even where they conflicted with English idiom.) His work was used by the Lollards, a group of itinerant preachers ("poor priests") who went about preaching, reading, and teaching from the English Bible. Wycliffite translations of the New Testament (1380) and Old Testament (1388), which was actually completed by Nicholas of Hereford, opened a new epoch in the history of the Bible. In this new edition, LAMP POST has taken a 600 year old ancient translation and made a modern, clean, readable version--a simple yet fun dichotomy--creating a project that all book- and bible-lovers are sure to appreciate and enjoy
