God, I Know You're There leans into the wonder of a childlike faith and celebrates both God and His marvelous creation. Each verse helps a child to understand that there are things in the world we can't see, touch, or hear, and yet they are real. And even if God feels distant, He is as real as the wind and sun. Clouds, I can't snuggle you. Still I know you're there. I watch you forming puffy shapes: A lion, bird, and bear. Moon, I can't swing from you. Still I know you're there. You're hanging like a silver night-light In the evening air. This delightful walk through the wonder of creation closes with this powerful reminder: God, I know You're there.
Offers teens three types of prayers they will find appealing. Original prayers written by teens that bring everyday life to the Lord and that acknowledge God's care about even the most ordinary events, such as friends, sports, and school. The second section taps into the tradition of praying for the saints' intercession for our needs, and introduces each saint with a brief biography. The final section offers a selection of some of the Church's traditional prayers with a teen's reflections on the importance of this prayer in his or her life.

How are religious educational institutions built? In histories of evangelical institution-building in the Victorian Indian colonial period (1858-1901), this question has mostly been addressed from the perspective of the religious ends that Christian missionaries sought to achieve and the ideological obstacles they encountered. This may be called the 'values' approach. Missionary Calculus sets this aside and examines, instead, the most routine transactions of missionaries in building an evangelical institution, the Sunday school. Missionaries daily struggled with and acted upon certain questions: How shall we acquire land and money to set up such schools? What methods shall we employ to attract students? What curriculum, books, and classroom materials shall we use? How shall we tune our hymns? Shall we employ non-Christians to teach in Christian Sunday schools? The makers of colonial Sunday schools focused obsessively on the means, the material and symbolic resources, with which they felt they could achieve certain immediate objectives. Such a transactional or 'instrumental' approach resulted in stated religious 'values' being insidiously compromised. Using insights from classical Weberian sociology, and through a close scrutiny of missionary means, this book shows how the success or failure of meeting evangelical ends may be assessed. With extensive archival research, chiefly on American missionaries in colonial India, this work examines the formation of Sunday schools at the point of transnational, intercultural contact. Readers interested in religion, education, and colonial history should find the matter, method, outcomes, and narration of Missionary Calculus new and thought-provoking.

Teens really do want to make a difference, but sometimes their attitudes get in the way! Today’s teens are faced with some big issues, and their attitudes can sometimes create even more struggles for their own lives and those around them. But best-selling author Max Lucado wants to teach teens that life is a gift and that gratitude is critical. With a little perspective, teens will see that God can help them overcome their ungrateful days, their stressed-out days, and even their catastrophic days. Life is not going to be perfect. When teens understand that and realize that God is their constant source of support, help, and blessings, even the difficult days can be faced with a cheerful spirit. Make Every Day Count shows readers how to deal with each day―no matter what it throws at them. Real-life teen stories, biblical accounts, and inspiring “Daylifters” encourage teens to make each day count for God. A study guide at the back of the book makes this a perfect choice for individual or group study.
