Mountains form the most spectacular creations on the planet and
cover such a large amount of Earth's landmass that they can be seen
clearly from outer space. Mountains are also a reminder that humans
count for nothing in the greater scheme of things. They were formed
by tectonic plate upheavals of such magnitude that the fossilised
remains of prehistoric sea-creatures can be found on mountains
tops; in fact, many Himalayan rocks were originally sediments on
the primordial Tethys Ocean floor. In this first of the Sacred
Landscape series Melusine Draco looks at ways of connecting with
the genii locorum that inhabit the caves and mountains of our
world. A companion volume to Sacred Landscape: Groves and Forests
and Sacred Landscape: Lakes and Rivers.
Margaret De Wys first became aware of ecstatic trance healing when
she was a young girl fascinated by the rapture of the Holy Rollers.
However, it would be decades before she would be called to explore
that early fascination. At a gathering in Upstate New York thirty
years later she was spontaneously possessed by a sacred Zulu
necklace--a gift from one of the most powerful shamans in Africa,
Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa. Frightening yet exhilarating, the
experience set her on a search to understand the depths of ecstatic
healing. Margaret journeys to Brazil to work with famous healer
John of God (Joao de Deus), where she witnesses hundreds of
miraculous healings through psychic surgery. During her years of
spiritual service at John's Casa, she experiences ecstatic visions,
which increase her hunger for more knowledge. She begins to attend
possession rituals held by Pai Lazaro, an Umbanda priest, and finds
she is a natural medium to the African gods. Called through her
dreams to work with Credo Mutwa, she travels to Credo's Healing
Village in Africa, where she discovers her gift as an ecstatic
healer and the meaning of true faith. In sharing her journey to
reach a profound understanding of ecstatic states and shamanic
healing, Margaret De Wys not only gives the reader a direct
experience of holiness but also reveals the potential each of us
has for miraculous healing.
The origin story of every culture contains a description of
animism; humans in direct relationship with the land and, through
the reciprocity of that connection, evolving together. The
livelihood of humans and Nature is intertwined. If one ails, so
does the other. History is littered with stories of losing that
connection, and the toll this takes in the form of humans against
each other, humans against Nature. Between colonization,
conscription into the Church, imperialization, and
industrialization, we have created systems of destruction that have
decimated our relationship to the land, and to each other. From
within these systems institutionalized racism, sexism, and all
aspects of 'othering' became embedded in our political and social
structures. As modern pagans, we recognize the need to tear down
these structures and build supportive, inclusive new ones. Our
spiritual paths are Nature-based and Ancestor-honoring, the rituals
of which heal land wounds and ancestral trauma, to create sacred
recovery and activism for all. This anthology presents modern pagan
activists working through their spiritual lines to do better.
Edited by Trevor Greenfield, publisher of Moon Books and editor of
Naming the Goddess, with contributory essays from eleven pagan
voices.

Uncover thrilling paranormal tales of Gold Rush ghosts, haunted
hotels, shipwrecks, giant squid attacks, disappeared Russian
explorers, a vanished bear hunter, Sasquatch, Kushtaka, and so much
more. A collection of twenty stories showcasing the supernatural
legends and unsolved mysteries of Southeast Alaska, with a focus on
the region between Yakutat and Petersburg, where the author has
lived his entire life, writing, teaching, guiding, commercial
fishing, and investigating ghost stories. Each chapter is rooted in
Bjorn’s own adventures and will intertwine fascinating history,
interviews, and his reflections. Bjorn’s writing, sometimes
poignant and often wickedly funny, brings to mind Hunter S.
Thompson and Patrick McManus. Chapters touch on legends such as
Alexander Baranov, Soapy Smith, James Wickersham, and the Kóoshdaa
Káa (Kushtaka) to lesser known but fascinating characters like
“Naked” Joe Knowles and purported serial killer Ed Krause. From
duplicitous if not downright diabolical humans to demons of the
fjords and deep seas and cryptids of the forest, Bjorn Dihle
presents a lively cross-section of the haunter and the haunted
found in Alaska’s Inside Passage.

"Tessas deep intimacy with Teresa of Avila . . . creates an
invitational space for readers of any tradition (or none) to enter
into their own transformational relationship with the wild woman of
Avila."Mirabai Starr. This fresh, upbeat, and deftly profound book
joyfully reconnects the fullness of our lives and the depth of our
prayer. Much more than yet another book about a great saint who
once was, it actually rekindles something of St. Teresas outrageous
spiritual impulse for contemporary readers, particularly those who
describe themselves as "spiritual, not religious." Tessa Bielecki
is the author of several books on St. Teresa of Avila, as well as a
former Abbess. "
n these lectures, Steiner focuses on the vital task of developing
the proper orientation toward a free spiritual life. With great
compassion and understanding, he offers telling examples of how
humanity must walk a conscious middle way between the two tempting
powers of Lucifer and Ahriman. He describes the incarnation of
Lucifer in the third millennium before the Christ event, out of
which flowed not just the wisdom of paganism, but also the
conscious intellect we enjoy today. Ahriman, on the other hand, is
shown approaching human beings through such phenomena as
materialism, nationalism, and literalism, all in preparation for
his incarnation in the third millennium. Keep in mind, however,
that these two powers do not work separately; rather, they are
working increasingly together. Our task as human beings is to hold
them in balance, continually permeating one with the other. Steiner
tells us that "Lucifer and Ahriman must be regarded as two scales
of a balance, and it is we who must hold the beam in equipoise. How
can we train ourselves to do this? By permeating what takes
ahrimanic form within us with a strongly luciferic element." To
accomplish this task we need a new, more conscious inner life.
