What is Recycled Yarn?

The textile waste of South Africa is only 13% recycled, balance all goes to landfills, incinerators and dumps which land up in oceans. Recycled yarn, used by Bunty?s is made of virgin grade left over fabrics. This is one of our great efforts in going Green and saving our environment and helping our planet. It would not only reduce carbon emissions by not incinerating but also help in reducing waste. By reusing the cotton we would be also reducing our carbon footprint and water consumption in the agricultural industry, which makes it more sustainable.



How is the Recycled Yarn made?

Recycled yarn is made by crushing the original left over fabrics to attain slivers. These fibres are then rewoven but are not strong enough so polyester fibres are blended in. The polyester percentage can be from 20-50% depending on the strength of the actual fabrics. At Bunty?s we try very hard to attain maximum strength by adding mostly 20% polyester to our cotton. This helps us keep the properties of the products still having maximum Cotton percentage thus not loosing on the absorbency and softness of our products.



Drawbacks of Recycled Yarn

Cotton cannot be recycled all the time, after a few recycles the threads are very weak and cannot be used. The testing is not available for Recycled Yarn as the fibers which are blended are not always of 1 category only. The dyes on the recycled yarn, would bleed more than the virgin fabrics. The cost of recycling the yarn currently is more expensive than using standard virgin cotton growth.

Does this portable air-conditioner require and exhaust hose?
Yes, all portable air conditioners do require venting via a window, wall or cavity using the window kit supplied, this is so it can vent the hot air outside of the room it is being used in. Portable air conditioners pull in warm air, cool it, and expel the cooled air out of the front of the unit and the remaining warm air and moisture out of the back of the unit. It is this warm air and moisture that needs to be vented out of the room you are currently cooling.
Once you've positioned the portable air conditioner where you'd like it, you must set the exhaust hose through an opening to the outside so that it can vent hot air out of the room. Customers that have purchased this unit for campers and caravans have been able to place this small unit directly against a self-built vent in their caravan or camper.

How do I install my Portable Airconditioner?

In general, very little installation is required for the GMCp07y Portable Aircon. The most important part of the setup that you will need to complete is determining where to vent the exhaust hose. Each Portable Airconditioner removes warm air and moisture from the room in order to cool it. You will need to vent the exhaust hose through a window, wall, or into an attic to release warm air from the room. Window exhaust hose kits supplied allow quick and easy window venting without losing cool air to the outside.

What happens to the moisture that is pulled out of the air?

Since portable air conditioners pull moisture as well as heat out of the air, many people are concerned about where the water goes. The GMCP07y - 7000 BTU Portable Aircon uses self-evaporating technology. This innovative technology internally processes and evaporates the collected moisture and then exhausts it out of the back of the unit. In climates that are extra humid, some water may collect in a reservoir located inside the unit. In this case, you can either manually empty the reservoir when it is full.

Is the GMCP07y - 7,000 BTU Portable Aircon energy efficient?

A good rule of thumb is to look at the Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) of the air conditioner you are purchasing. The higher the EER, the more energy efficient the portable air conditioner is. The GMCP07y has been awarded a rating of 'A’ by the department of energy of South Africa.

How long is the exhaust hose supplied with the Portable Aircon?

The exhaust hose supplied is 1.5m long and retractable/extendable to suit your needs.

Is the window kit supplied suitable for all windows?

The industry standard kit supplied is to fit sliding windows in either a upward or left/right motion. This is standard in all kits supplied with all portable air conditioner is South Africa and around the world. It's not always necessary to use the exact kit piece as many of our customers have found custom ways to fit the exhaust hose fairly easily.

We have also produced a locally made window seal kit suitable for casement windows, push-in or push-out type of windows at a maximum length of 2400 mm. The total length is 2400 mm. The width is 280 mm along the length of 1400mm. The 500 mm end pieces tapper from 280 mm down to 40 mm. This kit is available for sale on our website and all major online marketplaces.

Is GMCp07y portable air conditioner noisy?

It is normal for all household appliances, including the portable air conditioners to make a certain level of continuous noise. That being said the GMCp07y is one of the quietest portable aircons on the market with a decibel rating of 52DbA.

This is done by means of an advanced multi-stage cleaning system:

3 Stage Pre - Filter -  (removes the large airborne particles)

Our Portable Window kit is designed to fit the GMCP12RLA (12,000 BTU) and GMCP10Y (10,000 BTU) as well as most other Portable Aircons available on the market.

Multiple Applications - Window seal for portable ac units suitable for portable mobile air conditioners, dryers, exhaust dryers, and dehumidifiers. The airlock window seal is only suitable for commonly-used tilting windows or wings. It is suitable for a turn-tilt skylight product, casement window, and a balcony door that opens outwards. But unable to use it on a Left and right sliding window or door. (This sliding kit is already included with the GMC Portable Aircon products.)

Energy Saving in Summer - Window seal for portable air conditioning is made of durable nylon material for easy sashing slide. Push through the tube, the zipper closed and the heat stays outside. This practical airlock prevents the warm exhaust air from returning into the room. The windows can be closed easily when leaving. There is no need to disassemble.

Easy to use - Simply apply the adhesive hook tape to the inside of your window frame and to the window itself. Attach the window seal to the hook tape. Then, open the zip on the window seal and place your air conditioner hose out of the window. In the end, close the zip tightly around the hose.
