for SATB and piano, piano three-hands, and organ or orchestra
This collection of five new arrangements by Mack Wilberg is scored
with varying accompaniments. Most are for piano, but one is with
piano three-hands and another with organ. All five hymns have
orchestral accompaniments available on rental. Either way, each
hymn is beautifully arranged and is a wonderful addition to any
service or concert program.
for SATB and brass ensemble or full orchestra Gloria was written in
1974 in response to a commission from The Voices of Mel Olson, a
choir based in the USA. The division of the work into three
movements a respectively proclamatory, prayerful, and joyfully
affirmative a corresponds to the divisions in the text. Most of the
melodic material derives from a Gregorian chant associated with
this text. An accompaniment for orchestra without organ is also
available. Full scores, vocal scores, and instrumental parts are
available on hire. The first movement of Gloria is available
separately under the title Gloria 1.
for SATB unaccompanied Let all mortal flesh keep silence is a
reflective, homophonic setting of text from the fourth-century
Orthodox Liturgy of St James. Sheehan's setting, an original rather
than the customary pairing with the hymn tune 'Picardy', is steeped
in the Orthodox tradition, and has pure harmonies and a beautiful
stillness.

have been brought up to date to match the latest ABRSM
sight-singing criteria.
for SSA and piano The Sun and Stars Are Mine is a lyrical setting
of words by the metaphysical poet and clergyman Thomas Traherne
(1637-74). With a rippling piano accompaniment, melodious vocal
lines, and warm harmonies, Chilcott's setting captures the wonder
in the text, as Traherne reflects with awe on the transient nature
of life: 'When silent I so many thousand years, . . . how could I
lips or hands or eyes or ears perceive?'

Selected and arranged by the author, and with a new introduction by novelist David Mitchell, How To Be Invisible presents the lyrics of Kate Bush for the first time in a beautiful cloth-bound Faber edition.
'For millions around the world, Kate is way more than another singer-songwriter: she is a creator of musical companions that travel with you through life. One paradox about Kate is that while her lyrics are proudly idiosyncratic, those same lyrics evoke emotions and sensations that feel universal. Literature works in similar mysterious ways. Kate's the opposite of a confessional singer-songwriter ... You don't learn much about Kate from her songs. She's fond of masks and costumes - lyrically and literally - and of yarns, fabulations and atypical narrative viewpoints. Yet, these fiercely singular songs, which nobody else could have authored, are also maps of the heart, the psyche, the imagination. In other words, art.' David Mitchell
Danny Elfman's Piano Quartet comprises thematic variations for
piano and string trio cast in five movements: Ein Ding,
Kinderspott, Duett fur Vier, Ruhig and Die Wolfsjungen. The idea
behind the work stems from a familiar children's playground taunt
which can be heard in the second movement. The work playfully
cycles through a variety of moods and textures, from the agitated
intensity of the first movement so reminiscent of the composer's
iconic film music, through to the delicate Adagio, all culminating
in Elfman's energetic and impassioned finale.

Historic accounts and new material illuminate the creation, early
history and artistic intentions of Britten's first opera. The
premiere of Peter Grimes on 7 June 1945 announced the emergence of
the first great composer of opera in English since Purcell.
Surviving documents offer evidence of the complex interaction of
differing ideas about the possible shape and content of the new
work, most notably the composition draft, which these essays are
particularly concerned to illuminate. They juxtapose historic
material with fresh studies: three items written by members of
theteam involved in the 1945 production are set alongside
specially-commissioned articles, with the three-fold intention of
presenting the views of some of the creators of the opera,
outlining the work's early history, and offeringcontemporary
perspectives on its historical context and its message.Professor
