DESTROYER OF WORLDS Man's reign is through. Universal laws are
breaking in the cosmos with the coming of the dark lords to the
world of man. It is they who intend to complete GOD'S CHAIN and
become a God of gods, destroyer of worlds. Professor Mancini
expedition leader is top of his game, he has discovered the
legendary Vale of MalisIblis where a lost temple exists and already
entered the temple after a horrific human sacrifice. He believes it
holds a mythical and priceless artifact called "The Key of the Gods
of Seven Rays". This is a large golden disk, a legend believed by
ancient tribes in South America that will open a portal to the
Gods. Harjit Singh is a medical student and is promoted by the
professor to lead her team through the upper temple while he
explores the lower levels. She soon becomes lost and in critical
danger, chased by a hideous monster. This is the time of the
prophecy, perfect for the arrival of Lord Smite, the first of the
dark Lords. Smite with a brutal army from another world has come to
take the link of power, conquer, and then consume all life on
Earth. His forces immediately put a siege on the defending temple
garrison. The defenders are shocked at fighting the impossible,
then stunned even more at seeing a new super-being as mighty as
Smite! GOD'S CHAIN holds the power to all existence. Excerpt: "Help
us!" Harjit pleaded loudly. "This is the home of Shiva the
Destroyer, an awful and evil place." Harjit's crazy vision turned
any doubt of getting away unscathed into grim reality. "He is
alive!" Then she gasped in horror. "Chris, look! That's not him,
there's something lying ON HIM!" Harjit froze. Instinctively she
did not want to get any closer to him. "It must be that thing I
saw!" "What is it?" Christopher begged, bleary-eyed and not
realising their danger. "Look on top of Cesare! Shiva! Some giant
insect is on his back Christopher!" Christopher stared wildly at
the sickly-looking creature on top of him. "In the name of God,"
Christopher stated and uncertain of what he was looking at,
blinking hard to clear his eyes from dust. Something silvery-white
was on him, providing an excellent camouflage for the creature.
They could see its six short scaly legs, each making a clicking
noise. Everyone felt sick while gasping in the dust. The thing
began slowly crawling over Cesare, fixing itself on top of him. The
creature had numerous tiny white albino eyes positioned all over
its oval casing. Its hard exoskeleton showed a multitude of small
sharp jaggy peaks used for protection. It seemed to be calculating
their threat, studying them in fine detail. Moving a little on the
man, it stopped. Then its surface began changing colour from white
into bright pink. It had stuck itself solidly onto the man's back.
Cesare shivered a little, moaning involuntarily and said nothing.
Everyone looked desperately at each other then the man lay quiet
and very still. All in a state of shock, watching as his body
gradually became fossilised.
Starting in 1999 with the publication of The Definitive Annotated
Alice, the Norton and Liveright annotated books have become the
leading series of classic, illustrated works in the English
language. The long-anticipated publication of The Annotated Arabian
Nights extends this tradition with a strikingly modern
translation-the first of Shahrazad's tales into English by a
woman-as well as erudite notes that will illuminate the stories for
both dedicated readers and newcomers. Yasmine Seale's translations
from both Arabic and French capture the musicality and rhythm of
the Nights' poetry and prose, while Paulo Lemos Horta's annotations
wrestle with the extraordinarily complex origins and history of the
stories, showing that, far from being inventions of French
antiquarians or English explorers, they have clear antecedents in
Arabic folklore and tradition. This stunningly illustrated edition
selects core stories as well as treasured later additions such as
"Aladdin" and "Ali Baba" to offer an unparalleled account of a
cornerstone of world literature that can be treasured by children,
students and literature-lovers alike.
This is the time of the prophecy. A dark fantasy that continues the
search for the link to God inside the Amazon. DEVIL'S TEMPLE, is
not a religious story. It is a dark tale of fate and legend, of
feared words spoken in whispers of power and mystery. A Shaman's
grim forewarnings tell a tale of a Temple that appears every five
hundred years deep inside the jungle, and this is such a year! On
the other side of the world, a civilian expedition becomes lost
inside one of the most unforgiving places on earth, Amazonia. Does
the truth lie within this remorseless rainforest? Suddenly, horror
strikes when a scientist is killed in an act of human sacrifice.
The death toll continues to rise, and nothing makes sense anymore
as friendships stretch to breaking point and religious tensions
begin to tighten. Who or what is killing them? Inside the Temple, a
tapestry of death traps lay waiting. If these don't get them then
horrific life-forms from another world surely will. Would anyone be
found alive to rescue? An enormous creature bursts out from a
turbulent storm above the rainforest, a thing born unto the wing
high in the air featherless, huge and black and completely bare, it
uttered an unearthly high-pitched scream that would make a man
quake. DEATH was the beasts' name. In-flight, the creature opened
to full wingspan wider than an aircraft, as it navigated over this
new landmass with ease and where DEATH flew, death followed...
Excerpt1: "What is going on up there Ale? Who is screaming!" Cesare
asked with growing worry. Macabre events were unfolding and their
eyes were glued to the distance. They could see small silhouettes
crouching and everyone seemed to be holding their ears. Alessandro
and Cesare began to see a small blue spherical energy ball
appearing, and hovering in mid-air. The men guessed that everyone
up there was in great danger, the orb splashed the darkness away
from around it. The thing displayed raw power, swamping a deep
luminous blanket of blue-violet colour over the Temple stone.
Reeling backward involuntarily, both men staggered when a sharp
light flashed powerfully through everyone's bodies on the steps! In
that split-second flash, Alessandro and Cesare could see the
people's transparent bodies and skeletons, silhouetted briefly in a
weird blue light. Both men gasped loudly, when a massive expansion
of pure energy happened, so sudden and so quick. They witnessed
Beppi become engulfed. The power catapulted the helpless man into
the air and held him up high like a blazing star, screaming. "Oh
God! Look!" Cesare called out in grim abhorrence, nobody spared the
grim details of the victim's flesh bubbling; Beppi's body wriggled
and popped like a sausage on a barbeque. Paralysed, everyone
watched helplessly, and nobody could save him. "It's Beppi! It's
got Beppi! It's roasting him alive!" Yelling like a maniac,
Alessandro's own sanity screamed out in disbelief.
