Nonlinear Waves - From Dissipative Solitons to Magnetic Solitons (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2022): Emmanuel Kengne, Wuming Liu Nonlinear Waves - From Dissipative Solitons to Magnetic Solitons (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2022)
Emmanuel Kengne, Wuming Liu
R4,040 Discovery Miles 40 400 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

This book highlights the methods to engineer dissipative and magnetic nonlinear waves propagating in nonlinear systems. In the first part of the book, the authors present methodologically mathematical models of nonlinear waves propagating in one- and two-dimensional nonlinear transmission networks without/with dissipative elements. Based on these models, the authors investigate the generation and the transmission of nonlinear modulated waves, in general, and solitary waves, in particular, in networks under consideration. In the second part of the book, the authors develop basic theoretical results for the dynamics matter-wave and magnetic-wave solitons of nonlinear systems and of Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in external potentials, combined with the time-modulated nonlinearity. The models treated here are based on one-, two-, and three-component non-autonomous Gross-Pitaevskii equations. Based on the Heisenberg model of spin-spin interactions, the authors also investigate the dynamics of magnetization in ferromagnet with or without spin-transfer torque. This research book is suitable for physicists, mathematicians, engineers, and graduate students in physics, mathematics, and network and information engineering.

Interactive Multiobjective Decision Making Under Uncertainty (Hardcover): Hitoshi Yano Interactive Multiobjective Decision Making Under Uncertainty (Hardcover)
Hitoshi Yano
R4,027 Discovery Miles 40 270 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Recently, many books on multiobjective programming have been published. However, only a few books have been published, in which multiobjective programming under the randomness and the fuzziness are investigated. On the other hand, several books on multilevel programming have been published, in which multiple decision makers are involved in hierarchical decision situations. In this book, we introduce the latest advances in the field of multiobjective programming and multilevel programming under uncertainty. The reader can immediately use proposed methods to solve multiobjective programming and multilevel programming, which are based on linear programming or convex programming technique. Organization of each capter is summarized as follows. In Chapter 2, multiobjective programming problems with random variables are formulated, and the corresponding interactive algorithms are developed to obtain a satisfactory solution, in which the fuzziness of human's subjective judgment for permission levels are considered. In Chapter 3, multiobjective programming problems with fuzzy random variables are formulated, and the corresponding interactive algorithms are developed to obtain a satisfactory solution, in which not only the uncertainty of fuzzy random variables but also the fuzziness of human's subjective judgment for permission levels are considered. In Chapter 4, multiobjective multilevel programming is discussed, and the interactive algorithms are developed to obtain a satisfactory solution, in which the hierarchical decision structure of multiple decision makers is reflected. In Chapter 5, two kinds of farm planning problems are solved by applying the proposed method, in which cost coefficients of crops are expressed by random variables.

Nonlinear Dynamics Of Piecewise Constant Systems And Implementation Of Piecewise Constant Arguments (Hardcover): Liming Dai Nonlinear Dynamics Of Piecewise Constant Systems And Implementation Of Piecewise Constant Arguments (Hardcover)
Liming Dai
R4,823 Discovery Miles 48 230 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Piecewise constant systems exist in widely expanded areas such as engineering, physics, and mathematics. Extraordinary and complex characteristics of piecewise constant systems have been reported in recent years. This book provides the methodologies for analyzing and assessing nonlinear piecewise constant systems on a theoretically and practically sound basis. Recently developed approaches for theoretically analyzing and numerically solving the nonlinear piecewise constant dynamic systems are reviewed. A new greatest integer argument with a piecewise constant function is utilized for nonlinear dynamic analyses and for establishing a novel criterion in diagnosing irregular and chaotic solutions from the regular solutions of a nonlinear dynamic system. The newly established piecewise constantization methodology and its implementation in analytically solving for nonlinear dynamic problems are also presented.

Towards A Nonlinear Quantum Physics (Hardcover): J.R. Croca Towards A Nonlinear Quantum Physics (Hardcover)
J.R. Croca
R2,750 Discovery Miles 27 500 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

The author of this book presents conceptual and experimental evidence showing that Heisenberg's uncertainty relations are not valid in all cases. Furthermore, he derives a more general set of uncertainty relations. The new relations result from the replacement of the Fourier nonlocal and nontemporal paradigm by wavelet local analysis. These results lead to a coherent and beautiful causal synthesis unifying quantum and classical physics.

Methods Of Qualitative Theory In Nonlinear Dynamics (Part Ii) (Hardcover): Leon O. Chua, Leonid P. Shilnikov, Andrey L.... Methods Of Qualitative Theory In Nonlinear Dynamics (Part Ii) (Hardcover)
Leon O. Chua, Leonid P. Shilnikov, Andrey L. Shilnikov, Dmitry V. Turaev
R5,956 Discovery Miles 59 560 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Bifurcation and chaos has dominated research in nonlinear dynamics for over two decades, and numerous introductory and advanced books have been published on this subject. There remains, however, a dire need for a textbook which provides a pedagogically appealing yet rigorous mathematical bridge between these two disparate levels of exposition. This book has been written to serve that unfulfilled need.

Following the footsteps of Poincare, and the renowned Andronov school of nonlinear oscillations, this book focuses on the qualitative study of high-dimensional nonlinear dynamical systems. Many of the qualitative methods and tools presented in the book have been developed only recently and have not yet appeared in textbook form.

In keeping with the self-contained nature of the book, all the topics are developed with introductory background and complete mathematical rigor. Generously illustrated and written at a high level of exposition, this invaluable book will appeal to both the beginner and the advanced student of nonlinear dynamics interested in learning a rigorous mathematical foundation of this fascinating subject.

Dynamics Of Pattern, The (Hardcover): Alexander B Ezersky, Mikhail I. Rabinovich, Patrick D. Weidman Dynamics Of Pattern, The (Hardcover)
Alexander B Ezersky, Mikhail I. Rabinovich, Patrick D. Weidman
R4,710 Discovery Miles 47 100 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Spirals, vortices, crystalline lattices, and other attractive patterns are prevalent in Nature. How do such beautiful patterns appear from the initial chaos? What universal dynamical rules are responsible for their formation? What is the dynamical origin of spatial disorder in nonequilibrium media? Based on the many visual experiments in physics, hydrodynamics, chemistry, and biology, this invaluable book answers those and related intriguing questions. The mathematical models presented for the dynamical theory of pattern formation are nonlinear partial differential equations. The corresponding theory is not so accessible to a wide audience. Consequently, the authors have made every attempt to synthesize long and complex mathematical calculations to exhibit the underlying physics. The book will be useful for final year undergraduates, but is primarily aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and others interested in the puzzling phenomena of pattern formation.
