Stage director Davide Livermore's production turns the original libretto, a tale of feuding kings, mistaken identities, and cruel fates, into a ghost story, with the action taking place behind the stage of an opera house where everone has left and only spirits remain. Corrado Rovaris conducts the Orchestra Sinfonica Gioachino Rossini, while the performers include María José Moreno, Victoria Zaytseva, Yijie Shi and Mirco Palazzi.

Elisabeth Naske's family opera recorded live at the Komische Oper Berlin in 2010. Set in 1930s Croatia, the opera follows the fortunes of 12-year-old Branko (Adrian Strooper) who, left alone after his mother dies, roams the streets of the coastal towns, violin in hand. After teaming up with flame-haired Zora (Olivia Vermeulen) and her orphan gang, Branko and his new found friends carve a swathe through the local streets, stealing food and staying one step ahead of the local police.
Soprano Marlis Petersen takes centre stage in this production of Verdi's opera, staged at the Oper Graz in 2011. Director Peter Konwitschny's production features performances by Kristina Antonie Fehrs, Fran Lubahn and Giuseppe Varano. The conductor is Tecwyn Evans. |
