Charles Capps teaches how God sees you, in His Own image, and how
that image God puts in His Word is the image you should have of
yourself. This is so important, since it has been proven that what
or who you imagine yourself to be determines your fate in life.
Your self-image can carry you to heights of success or plunge you
into the depths of defeat and despair.
Landmark, Bestselling Book Now Revised and Updated Does God really
speak through dreams? Are there such things today as visions?
Absolutely, says author and pastor Jane Hamon. And what is more,
God wants you to get the message! This concise guidebook unravels
the scriptural meanings of dreams and visions, helping you discern
when a dream is a prophetic direction for your life, what to do
about a warning, how to recognize false messages--and much more. In
this newly revised and updated edition of her popular book, readers
are encouraged to look with new eyes at the biblical basis for this
everyday language. It is not complicated, says Hamon. The voice of
the Lord is speaking. Don't miss what he is saying.
This panoramic vision was given to the author over a period of one
year. It includes an unfolding of the last battle between light and
darkness. A condensed version was printed in "The Morning Star
Journal" as "The Hordes of Hell Are Marching--" it quickly became

around the world. This is the complete vision, including Parts IV
& V, which have not been previously published.

Pentecostalism is currently the fastest-growing Christian movement,
with hundreds of millions of followers. This growth overwhelmingly
takes place outside of the West, and women make up 75 percent of
the membership. The contributors to Spirit on the Move examine
Pentecostalism's appeal to black women worldwide and the ways it
provides them with a source of community and access to power.
Exploring a range of topics, from Neo-Pentecostal churches in Ghana
that help women challenge gender norms to evangelical gospel
musicians in Brazil, the contributors show how Pentecostalism helps
black women draw attention to and seek remediation from the
violence and injustices brought on by civil war, capitalist
exploitation, racism, and the failures of the state. In fleshing
out the experiences, theologies, and innovations of black women
Pentecostals, the contributors show how Pentecostal belief and its
various practices reflect the movement's complexity, reach, and
adaptability to specific cultural and political formations.

Ebenezer Obadare examines the overriding impact of Nigerian
Pentecostal pastors on their churches, and how they have shaped the
dynamics of state-society relations during the Fourth Republic.
Pentecostal pastors enjoy an unprecedented authority in
contemporary Nigerian society, exerting significant influence on
politics, public policy, popular culture, and the moral
imagination. In Pastoral Power, Clerical State, Ebenezer Obadare
investigates the social origins of clerical authority in modern-day
Nigeria with an eye to parallel developments and patterns within
the broader African society. Obadare focuses on the figure of the
pastor as a bearer of political power, thaumaturgical expertise,
and sexual attractiveness who wields significant influence on his
church members. This study makes an important contribution to the
literature on global Pentecostalism. Obadare situates the figure of
the pastor within the wider context of national politics and
culture and as a beneficiary of the dislocations of the
postcolonial society in Africa's most populous country. Obadare
calls our attention to the creative ways in which Nigeria's
Pentecostal pastors utilize religious doctrines, beckon spiritual
forces, and manipulate their alliances with national powerbrokers
to consolidate their influence and authority. In contrast to
rapidly eroding pastoral authority in the West, pastoral authority
is increasing in Nigeria. This engaging book will appeal to those
who want to understand the far-reaching political and social
implications of religious movements-especially Christian
charismatic and evangelical movements-in contemporary African
societies. It will be of interest to scholars and students of
sociology, religion, political science, and African studies.
Frank D. Macchia argues that the Son of God baptized (and continues
to baptize) humanity in the Spirit by pouring forth the Spirit on
the Day of Pentecost. All four Gospels and the book of Acts
describe how the Son is sent of the Father and empowered by the
Spirit to fulfil this mission; Macchia in turn claims that Christ
succeeds by incorporating others into himself and into the love of
the Father. The Spirit-Baptized Church proposes a richly
pneumatological ecclesiology that is dominated by a Pentecostal
confessional concern, while also open to a larger ecumenical
conversation. The volume focuses not only on the dogmatic
(Trinitarian) foundations and election processes of the
Spirit-baptized church, but also on its marks and witnessing
practices. As an exceptionally detailed study of the
Spirit-baptismal metaphor, this volume is a valuable resource for
scholars of ecclesiology, Pentecostalism, and systematic theology.
In religious terms Pentecostalism was probably the most vibrant and
rapidly-growing religious movement of the 20th century. Starting as
a revivalistic and renewal movement within Christianity, it
encircled the globe in less than 25 years and grew in North America
and then in those parts of the world with the highest birth-rates.
Characterised by speaking in tongues, miracles, television
evangelism and megachurches, it is also noted for its small-group
meetings, empowerment of individuals, liberation of women and
humanitarian concerns. Without the financial and military support
of the state (as was the case with communism), it flourished in
almost every conceivable socio-political environment. Even in
Europe, where religion most frequently appeared tired and out of
date, Pentecostalism might draw large crowds or, within mainline
Christian congregations, flourish in a more muted charismatic form.
When these two forms are added together, Pentecostalism and
neo-Pentecostalism are thought to account for around 450 million
people. William K Kay outlines the origins and growth of
Pentecostalism, looking at not only the theological aspects of the
movement, but also the sociological influences of its political and
humanitarian viewpoints. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short
