In this delightful classic from the one and only Dr. Seuss, Morris
McGurk dreams about staging the world's greatest show! Join Morris
McGurk for the world's greatest show, packed with the most
tremendous, stupendous acts ever seen, from the Spotted Atrocious -
a beast most ferocious - to the Drum-Tummied Snumm from the country
of Frumm. If only he ran the circus... With his unique combination
of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes, Dr. Seuss
has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read
for over fifty years. Creator of the wonderfully anarchic Cat in
the Hat, and ranking among the UK's top ten favourite children's
authors, Seuss is firmly established as a global best-seller, with
over 600 million books sold worldwide. As part of a major rebrand
programme, HarperCollins is relaunching Dr. Seuss's bestselling
books, including such perennial favourites as The Cat in the Hat,
Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks. In response to consumer
demand, the bright new cover designs incorporate much needed
guidance on reading levels, with the standard paperbacks divided
into three reading strands - Blue Back Books for parents to share
with young children, Green Back Books for budding readers to tackle
on their own, and Yellow Back Books for older, more fluent readers
to enjoy. If I Ran the Circus belongs to the Yellow Back Book
range.
In a beautiful and poetic reflection, Ruby Bridges tells her story
as never before and shares the events of the momentous day in 1960
when Ruby became the first child to integrate the school system as
a six year old little girl -- a personal and intimate look through
a child's lens at a landmark moment in our Civil Rights history. My
work will be precious, I will be a bridge between people. I will
bridge the "gap" between black & white. . but hopefully all
people! I suppose some things in life are just meant to be. When
Ruby Bridges was just six years old, she became the first African
American student to integrate an elementary school in the South.
Based on the pivotal events that happened in 1960 and told from her
own point of view for the first time, in a poetic reflection on her
experience that changed the face of history and the trajectory of
the Civil Rights movement. I Am Ruby Bridges offers hope and
confidence to all children and is a perfect learning tool for
schools and libraries to teach the story of Ruby Bridges as never
before and introducing this landmark story to young readers in a
powerful new way. This story of innocence and courage is brought to
life by NAACP-nominated artist, Nikkolas Smith through stunning and
beautiful illustrations.Embracing the meaning of her name, Bridges
reflects with poignancy and heart on the way one brave little girl
stood proud and tall to help build a bridge between all people and
pave the path for future generations.
Francois Bloemhof se onnutsige en speelse vertaling van Dahl se

Books make good pets and don't need going to the vet. You don't
have to keep them on a lead or throw them a stick. They'll wag
their words whenever you flick their dog-eared pages. Even howl an
ancient tale for the inward-listening ear. Did you know that a book
can take you anywhere? You only need to turn the pages of a story,
and in a moment, you and your book could be crossing the waves in a
pirate ship... or diving with mermaids... or even snoozing with a
dragon. Books really DO make good pets! Why don't you peep inside
this one, and take your mind on an adventure? This delightful
original picture book poem is the perfect gift for anyone who
delights in the magic of a good book. Agard's evocative, lyrical
style is perfectly complemented with illustrations by Momoko Abe,
whose colourful visuals add character, transporting the reader into
an enchanting world of imagination.

Poetry. This Deluxe Edition features premium glossy stock and
special ink, resulting in vibrant color images and print, and an
overall luxurious feel. Wendy Videlock's THE DARK GNU AND OTHER
POEMS plays, jokes, teaches, admonishes, yields to the ecstatic,
and strays into the shadowy where "If not for the dark, / no /
spark." All of this is heightened by striking full-color
illustrations from the author herself. There are stories that come
and go in a couple of blinks, and stories that linger and juggle
their way from hut to the market, to the fair, on a "swaying
dappled mare," to get to all the good to be had or done. Mother
Goose, myth, folklore, chants, lyrics and narratives are
well-represented. Like NEVERTHLESS, Videlock's first collection
also from Able Muse Press, THE DARK GNU abounds with fun, quirks,
wit, and wisdom, but this time to enchant and enlighten children of
all ages."Wendy Videlock's poems contain laughing pears, rhyming
coyotes, and jaded wind. In reading this book, I found myself
laughing and gasping in equal measures. And cursing, as well,
because Videlock is so damn good and I'm so damn jealous of her
talent. She is one of my very favorite poets."--Sherman Alexie
"Let me introduce you, to a little girl called Hope. She didn't
want to start first grade until she could jump rope." Excited by
the skipping rope from her loving father, Hope tries to jump rope.
But soon realizes, jumping rope was harder than she'd ever
imagined. She tries and tries and tries but is ready to give up,
until ....Hope learns the secret to success. Her hard earned
success is utterly joyous, and serves as a positive and totally
enjoyable inspiration for readers of all ages. Hope Learns To Jump
Rope is a motivational story focused on the most basic of positive
character traits. She displays the ability to work hard, and
persevere. Hope overcomes the desire to give up, and ultimately
succeeds. "A timeless story told with perfect rhyme and gorgeous
vivid illustrations. This book is irresistible." ..". has written a
feel good, light hearted story that goes much deeper than it
appears. This is a short rhythmic story of a little girl named
Hope, and her overwhelming desire to learn to jump rope, through
practice, temporary failure and hard work."

illustrations are by Lauren O'Neill, winner of the Children's Books
Ireland Award for Illustration in 2016.
About the Book The book is titled: Life in the Unknown, and
sub-titled; Let the free thinkers speak. The title is taken from
one of my favorite poems in the book; it should be an interesting
read. This title wasn't the initial plan however, but it should
call for interesting conversation in book signing. A part from the
being a poetry book, there is no one classification or category
that can be placed on the materials, which might come across as;
controversial, edgy, insensitive, polarizing, funny, gritty, but
yet it should come across as honest, and possibly witty. This book
is aimed at challenging life and its imperfection, since we
ourselves are imperfect, then judgment is therefore minimal; one to
another respectively.
A pitch-perfect rhyming celebration of dads! Dads are all around!
But there's just ONE dad who gives the best hugs of all. Can you
guess who it is? A joyfully inclusive celebration of ALL dads -
perfect for Father's Day gifting!
An anthology by a well-known American poet grouped under such topical headings as "Wind and Sea," "Portraits," and "Birds and Bugs.".
Twenty-five rhyming poems invite children to believe in themselves,
learn from mistakes, cooperate, share, help others, solve problems,
be kind, tell the truth, make positive choices, and more. The short
poems are quick to read, easy to learn, and fun to recite making
them perfect for teaching social skills to young children. Children
can memorize their favorite poems, talk about them, act them out,
and get ideas for creating their own. Accompanying photographs show
children from diverse backgrounds in realistic settings, and back
matter provides adults with ideas for thought-provoking discussion,
activities, and learning. This charming update to a popular volume
of poetry for children is a book that adults and children will love
sharing again and again.
From U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, here are stirring
poems that read like music. Awarded the Pura Belpre Honor for this
book, Herrera writes in both Spanish and English about the joy and
laughter and sometimes the confusion of growing up in an
upside-down, jumbled-up world-between two cultures, two homes. With
a crazy maraca beat, Herrera creates poetry as rich and vibrant as
mole de ole and pineapple tamales ...an aroma of papaya ...a clear
soup with strong garlic, so you will grow & not disappear.
Herrera's words are hot & peppery, good for you. They show us
what it means to laugh out loud until it feels like flying.
